Perched on the banks of lake Yli-Suolijärvi in northern Finland, this recently-finished cabin is a wonderful place for a wintery escape. There are four pairs of snowshoes, as well as a bobsleigh, sledges and sliders available for guests to use to explore the immediate vicinity. Kirintövaara resort takes twenty minutes to reach in the car, as does Riisitunturi National Park. And then, once you've spent a few hours having fun in the snow, you can return to the home to warm up. This being Finland, there's a sauna in the house for you to take advantage of, but there's also underfloor heating and a hot tub outside, if you're feeling particularly brave. After a hearty dinner prepared in the minimalist kitchen, we can imagine no more satisfying end to the day than lounging about on the leather sofas and watching the snow fall through the window that takes up one side of the living room.
