We'd say the adjacent ground-floor bedroom isn't fully private, as it's a cubicle room with three-quarter-height walls – otherwise, this is a great home for couples, a family or business colleagues.

At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room and the main bedroom is located on the mezzanine level (with no door), but you’ll find all the essentials needed to make it your own. Outside, it’s just a short stroll to local tapas bars, shops and iconic sights like the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid. 


Madrid's Sky Loft

This apartment is within walking distance of an array of attractions, such as Parque Madrid Rio, Casa de Campo, the Royal Palace and La Almudena Cathedral. Of course, there are plenty of dining options to discover in the area, too. The apartment has a desk if you need to catch up on emails and a well-equipped kitchen for making some tapas. We have to say, we love the main bedroom with its dressing room and en-suite. This home is a great choice whether you’re here for leisure or work.

Metropolitan Magic

Simplicity is at the fore when it comes to Windcomb. The sense of space is not something to be taken for granted, either. Eight people, and not a sofa bed in sight. Unfortunately, it’s rather common for unscrupulous landlords to try to shoehorn people in, but that’s certainly not the case here. It’s a bit of a pain to have to climb up the steps, but that’s an occupational risk when you test so many homes in old buildings – it’s hardly a dealbreaker.


Windcomb

Boasting a privileged location on Madrid’s famous Gran Vía, this elegant apartment puts countless of the city’s most famous sights on your doorstep. It’s not just its incredibly central locale that caught our eye, however. Plasterwork ceilings, marble detailing and a whopping eleven Juliet balconies make this pad stand out from the crowd. Beautifully dressed bedrooms with bespoke wallpaper add to the luxe feeling here too. And did we mention the en-suite’s Turkish-style sauna shower? Of course, being in the beating heart of the capital means noise is to be expected. But we think it’s a small price to pay for a home as striking as this one. 


City Elegance

This elegant apartment situated between the Salamanca and Goya areas is a lovely base for a family or a group of friends visiting Madrid, offering all the comforts of home as well as a central location. 

Come inside and find a lovely open-plan living room, with a dining table and a well-equipped kitchen. There’s plenty of space for the whole party to snuggle up and enjoy an evening of movies and Spanish wine. Should you wish to rustle up a delicious supper, the kitchen has all you need to show off your culinary skills – but you may also opt to try one of the many excellent restaurants in the area. 

For a night of restful sleep head over to the cosy bedrooms, each offering a plush bed and sleek, minimalist décor. Wake up feeling restored and start your day with a cup of coffee out on the balcony. 

Outside your home, you’ll find yourself surrounded by upscale boutiques and gourmet eateries, with the historic centre and all its monuments (including the Prado Museum and El Retiro Park) within easy reach.

The terrace is the first thing that grabs your attention at this fabulous home, housed in a historic building dating back to 1919 – it's the perfect place for a glass (or a pitcher) of sangria. It really is a fantastic, south-facing outdoor space, with a sunshade – relax on the sun loungers or enjoy some alfresco tapas. There's an outside shower too to rinse off the suncream before going indoors. Inside, there's lots of light, and the huge living room is a wonderful space to entertain. We love the original artwork and colourful wallpapers in the bedrooms. This apartment is perfect for a group of friends, family or professionals on a business trip. We were surprised, as well, given its central, Calle Gran Vía location, how quiet it is here. Step out of the door, and you're on Madrid's most famous street, right in the centre of the capital. Here you'll find some of the city’s most iconic buildings, as well as boutiques, restaurants (let your lovely host make reservations) and bars galore. Take in the incredible views over Madrid from the roof terrace of Círculo de Bellas Artes, a cultural centre offering concerts and exhibitions, a five-minute stroll away. Or, get inspired at Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza with its masterpieces by Van Gogh, Caravaggio and Lichtenstein, nine minutes on foot. Architecture lovers, on the other hand, can admire Ayuntamiento de Madrid, or visit the exhibitions at Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos, both under a ten-minute saunter.

This sophisticated Spanish abode can be found on a quiet street in Madrid’s historic centre. The living room is bright and modern, with Scandistyle furnishings, boho cushions and a family dining table. We love the steel-framed glass wall, separating the living room from the master bedroom (with curtain for privacy of course) and the immaculate bathrooms with hotel-style extras (think fluffy towels and spa-like toiletries). The location is top-notch too. You’re within walking distance of many of the city’s highlights, including the Real Jardín Botánico, the Prado Museum and the Círculo de Bellas Artes. Spend your days trawling Madrid’s stylish boutiques, sipping coffee on bustling squares and visiting vibrant art galleries. In the evenings, it’s all about the tapas and bar culture – with more drinking establishments than any other city on the planet, you won’t know where to begin first.

Wine Cooler

Located in the north-most part of Salamanca, El Bodegón combines a sense of luxury and with a prime shopping destination of the nearby Calle Serrano (and the proximity to the sights). This is a luxuriously comfortable home that made us want to sink into the comfy sofa and rest, or enjoy a great book on the closed balcony. The master bathroom, as pretty as it is, feels a bit narrow, but it's still well-equipped and comfortable. 

El Bodegón

Perched high above Plaza de España in one of Madrid's tallest buildings, this stunning city-centre apartment is perfectly set up to spark your creative side. It's as if the host managed to condense their joie de vivre into the living room using nothing but a few carefully placed photos and artefacts that undoubtedly have great stories behind them. The bold prints and stylish furniture only add to the loud, proud and metropolitan ambience. The space itself is also absolutely stunning, with a large, light-filled kitchen/living/dining space that is the undoubted heart of the home. Large picture windows frame the views over the neighbourhood from your vantage point on the eleventh floor. When you want to get a little closer to the action, there's a balcony where you can sit out and enjoy your morning caffeine hit or pre-dinner aperitifs. Continue through to the en-suite bedroom, and the soothing neutral tones set you up for a restful night's sleep, with a spacious dressing area to try on outfit options for the day ahead once you've raised yourself from the comfy bed. The immediate area around the apartment is leafy and residential, so you're in for a more authentic Madrid experience than the usual tourist hotspots. However, the apartment offers the best of both worlds, as many of Madrid's main sights – including the Palacio Real and Plaza Mayor – are within a fifteen-minute walk, while the likes of the Museo Nacional del Prado are under half an hour away on foot.

Settle into the Spanish lifestyle with a stay at this fantastic apartment in the vibrant Malasaña district. With plenty of room for a family or group of friends, you can kick back and relax between adventures, making the most of this beautifully designed space. 

The living area is a haven of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's cloaked in soft pastel tones, and has plenty of comfortable seating where you can curl up with a glass of Rioja at the end of a long day. The kitchen is perfect for cooking up your favourite dishes, which you can serve at the chic dining space, complete with stylish pendant lighting and parquet flooring. And, there's even a breakfast bar where you can enjoy a quick bite to eat and a fresh coffee from the Newspresso machine before you get going in the morning. 

The surrounding barrio is full of indie coffee shops and market stalls lining the winding streets. It's a great place to while away a day as you browse the vintage boutiques, before enjoying a craft cocktail at one of the local bars. And, Madrid's grandest sights are within easy reach too – the Palacio Real de Madrid is just fifteen minutes away on foot, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is just over twenty minutes away.
