We love this studio apartment's location – it's steps away from Amager Strand. So, if you like to swim in the sea, kite surf or go for long walks on the beach, this is the place for you. The National Aquarium of Denmark is also just minutes away. The proximity to the airport and a metro station that takes you into the city centre in six minutes makes it ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Back at this home's development, there's a shared gym, or relax on the king-sized bed in the apartment (there's no sofa or living room here). Yes, the kitchen is quite compact, but it does have an oven and hob, so you can still cook some Danish delicacies.

With its enviable location on the beach trail to Amager Strandpark, you can breathe in the sea air in no time here. You’ll also find the Øresund metro station is five minutes away, allowing easy access to the city centre or airport in three stops. Of course, with such convenience, there’s the potential for some street noise – particularly given there’s a popular cafe on your doorstep. That said, given the apartment has a basic kitchenette, this will prove handy. An ideal base for four people, just be prepared for two guests to sleep on the sofa bed.

We think this home's location has the best of both worlds. It's just steps away from Amager Strand, perfect for a swim in the sea or long walks on the beach. Yet, the city centre can be reached in six minutes via Copenhagen's speedy metro system. Back at this home, there's a gym to keep up your fitness regime, or relax on the king-sized bed. While the bedroom is separate, this apartment is more like a studio as there's no sofa or living room here. The kitchen area is also quite compact, but it has an oven and hob. This place is the ideal base for a couple or solo traveller or those on business.

With its yellow and blue theme, Bumblebee & Sapphire definitely has a lively side. Yes, it’s small, but the space is used in a nice way that makes it seem a lot bigger than it actually is. The Vissevasse posters and decorative HAY pillows add a playful touch to the home, which we really enjoy. Amagerbro is calm and it's a short metro ride from Amager Strandpark and Amager Fælled, some of Copenhagen's most beloved nature spots.

A bohemian atmosphere meets Japanese zen in this striking home. We particularly love all the original features including the wooden beams, exposed brick walls (and even the creaky floors), which mix beautifully with the hosts’ collection of books and vintage furniture. Since the apartment was renovated in 2013, it has been featured in several lifestyle magazines for its charming design aesthetic. Spread across three floors, unique quirks include the rather rustic ladders that take you up to the second and third floors. Curl up in a cosy corner with a book in hand and live the scene of what seems like it could be a fictional dream. Alongside world literature, the host also supplies guests with access to gym equipment, should you wish to keep up with your fitness routine while visiting Copenhagen. Around the apartment, the immediate area feels very local – the Christianshavn canals are just two minutes away, and so are plenty of restaurants. All in all, it's safe to say that this home is perfectly out of the ordinary.

As expected for an 18th-century Copenhagen home, the layout of this large and oh-so-stylish studio is a little kooky. One bedroom with a handy desk nook is tucked into the eaves on a mezzanine, so it's not the most private of spaces. There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.

Locations really don’t get much better than this. It's rare to find a property this close by to the picture-perfect Nyhavn district, with its brightly coloured gabled townhouses. Find a sunny spot outside at a quayside café or hop on a boat for one of the many canal tours that start here. As the evening draws in, take a pre-dinner stroll along the waterfront, then duck into one of the many restaurants and bars that line the canal.  You could call in on the Queen too, she lives just around the corner. And when it’s finally time to retreat inside, you’ll find a contemporary place that invites you to be social. The communal area is the heart of the home, offering plenty of space for your tribe to hang out, cook, and eat. The industrial-style windows flood natural light through the apartment by day, while the plush velvet curtains allow privacy at night when it’s time for some shut-eye.

Located in a quiet corner of Indre By but just a five-minute walk from the 17th century Nyhavn waterfront, this bright and welcoming apartment puts you right in the heart of Copenhagen’s action. We love the homey comforts on offer here, from the sheepskin throws to the inviting Scandi and vintage furnishings and the large windows proferring fourth-floor views over the city’s rooftops. Our favourite spot is the private balcony with its views of Christiansborg’s spire. Sit here with your morning coffee while soaking up the fresh air or gather at the elegant dining table with the French doors open to enjoy the warmth and cosiness of your home. With plenty of curios decking the shelves, original artwork, a record player to serenade your evenings and a beautiful antique bureau on which to catch up on work, you’re all set for a relaxing time here, whether for business or pleasure. Factor in the luxurious Hästens bed for a dreamy night’s sleep and you may never leave your comfortable home. When you do, however, you’ll be wowed by the countless sights within easy reach on foot, including the Kongens Nytorv (seven minutes), Strøget’s upscale shops and indie boutiques (twelve minutes) and the Tivoli Gardens (fifteen minutes).

For what it lacks in luxuriousness, it makes up for with its charming location – Christianshavn is a unique part of Copenhagen with local restaurants, bars and endless canals. To some, it might be a disadvantage that the bedrooms don’t have any curtains, but who could say no to enjoying the breathtaking views of the rows of colourful houses and picture-perfect Church of our Saviour at any time of the day?

Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

This Copenhagen bolthole may be pocket-sized, but it would work well for two friends or colleagues looking for a central base to lay their heads. There's little space for socialising, with no living room to speak of. But each bedroom has a cushy chair and the dining banquette in the compact kitchen is a cosy spot for breakfast, and the bakery nearby will keep the pastries flowing. Outside, Nyhavn's buzzy cafes and restaurants are just around the corner. Kongens Nytorv Metro Station is also within easy reach, ready for you to blaze a trail across the city.

Housed in a building constructed in 1958, this apartment is ideal for friends or family looking for an excellent location. It sleeps up to six guests with two people sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room at full capacity. We should also mention that your hosts also provide free access to the local gym if you want to keep up your fitness regime while away.

Danish Design

Centrally located and chicly styled, this apartment ticks all of our boxes. You'll be based in lively Indre By, just a short walk from Nyhavn's colourful harbour and Strøget's many shops. But even better than the location is the private roof terrace back home. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a Danish beer and admire the city views. Indoors, the pared-back interiors feature natural elements and lots of light. The kitchen isn't the biggest and there is some adult-themed artwork, but otherwise, it's a cosy option in the heart of the city.

Filled with personal artwork and trinkets, Science Fiction is extremely characterful. It’s the kind of home where you feel like you get to know the host, even though he’s not around. It also has high ceilings, beautiful stucco detailing, and a hammock for lazy days. The immediate area is full of things to do. Østerbro is incredibly family-friendly, especially if you’re looking for lovely green parks, artisanal bakeries, and charming restaurants.

Experience Denmark's capital like a true Copenhagener at this ultra-slick townhouse perched beside the city's South Harbour. Quietly removed from the inner-city hustle in a new waterfront development, you'll need to hop on the harbour ferry or buses when heading downtown. Or keep things local – there's a lovely café, playground and shops to pick up essentials within walking distance. At full occupancy, the last guest will have to make do with a sofa bed in the TV snug. But we're happy to let that slide for a home with such strong design aesthetics and private terraces to boot.

South Side

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.

Heritage Haven

If you’re searching for classic Scandinavian design in a fantastic location, this apartment delivers. Located on the third floor of a historic building without a lift, there is plenty of space for a group of nine to relax after a day of exploring. It’s worth noting there is only one bathroom here, but it's ideal for remote workers with dedicated desk space and families will appreciate the children’s amenities available for an additional fee. From here, it’s just a short stroll to the bars and restaurants of Nyhavn, while shops and historic sights are also within walking distance. 


Cityscape Sanctuary

Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

Family Haven

Split across two levels with a wooden ladder connecting the two, this two-bedroom home is ideal for younger travellers looking to be right in the centre of Copenhagen. Even though it lacks in entertainment options, you’ll not have to worry about finding things to do because The Conrad is situated in a repurposed office building on top of Strøget, Copenhagen’s busiest shopping street.

Do Copenhagen right and stay at this swoon-worthy Scandi apartment in the city centre. With light-filled rooms, an unbeatable location and the rare luxury of a private terrace, it doesn't get better than this modern home. 

The open-plan living area is the ideal hangout spot for your holiday downtown. Finished with bright furnishings and a touch of boho charm, the spacious room is lit up with not one, not two, but six windows. After preparing meals in the snazzy kitchen, you have a choice of places to dine – at the breakfast bar, the eight-person dining table, or outside in the sun (that's our pick, weather permitting). 

When it's time to explore the city, you won't have to travel far to take in Copenhagen's best sites. The cobbled Kongens Nytorv square is barely a five-minute walk away, and from here Nyhavn's colourful waterfront is another short hop. Enjoy lunch with a waterfront view, then meander through the characterful streets towards Christianshavn, a unique network of small islands. This is the place to be if you're a fan of street art and intimate music venues.

Begin your mornings wandering along the canal, coffee in hand as you bask in the picturesque scenery. Grab a pastry then stroll towards Christianhavn, one of the upbeat and flourishing hubs of the capital city. Here you'll find hip bars and eating spots to mingle with the locals. Stroget, Copenhagen's busy retail district, is the place to be if you want to immerse yourself in the city's shopping culture. This city-centre apartment is seriously chic – we absolutely loved its minimalist Scandi vibes. The communal area is open and bright, offering plenty of space for all six guests to hang out together. There are thoughtful touches like vintage illustrated posters hanging on the wall above comfortable furniture from New Scandinavian Design maestros, Bolia. The glass-walled bedrooms are definitely a novel touch and create a strong impact. They certainly won't be to everyone's taste, but all have velvet curtains to pull across for some privacy when needed. With views onto Copenhagen's main shopping street, Strøget, you couldn't be better placed to hit the luxury boutiques and independent shops when the mood takes you. Plus, you're not far from the colourful waterside bars and restaurants of Nyhavn or the high culture of the Royal Danish Theatre – a little over a five-minute walk away.

You are a five-minute walk from Nyhavn and all of its cultural attractions. If you feel like experiencing the city in a different way, you can also sit down on the sunny balcony with a cup of coffee and watch Copenhageners go about their day.

The quirky top-floor apartment includes a collection of books and board games instead of a TV – encouraging you to enjoy a cosy evening reminiscent of the good ol’ days. Situated in a residential neighbourhood, the apartment offers some peace and quiet, while a ten-minute metro ride takes you right into the bustling city centre. The bedrooms are among the most stylish we're seen, with forest green feature walls, eye-catching artwork and headboards held by leather straps. While the Crittal-style glass partition walls of the second and third bedrooms are certainly a conversation starter. On long summer days, a couple of French doors open out onto Juliette balconies so you can let the fresh air and that city buzz inside. As a bonus, this three-bedroom home is located along the Crown Prince's preferred cycling route, so you might catch a glimpse of him as he whizzes past on his bike. So if you're set on exploring Copenhagen on foot, by bike, or on the water, this is the ideal choice for you.

The Design Show

Situated just one street from The Lakes, this penthouse apartment is perfectly positioned for waterfront strolls, coffees and drinks. This modern Scandi-style apartment is ideal for groups wanting to maximise their time both out and in, with a central location and a contemporary sociable space. If you’re visiting as a group of eight, two guests will sleep on the living area sofa bed, so you might need to call it early some nights. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture. 

Lake Haven

You're right in the thick of things at this smart downtown apartment, perched along Copenhagen's shopping mecca of Strøget. The metro is just 100 metres from your door, though we doubt you'll need it with buzzy Nyhavn Harbour and countless happening restaurants and cosy cafes within walking distance. It's worth noting if four of you share, the last two guests will have to make do with the sofa bed in the living space. You'll also need to prepare for some street noise from time to time. But we'll take that for a home with such an unbeatable location.

Strøget Delight

In the heart of Copenhagen, this central pad is a great base for those exploring the city. The popular Strøget shopping district is on your doorstep, with restaurants, bars and boutiques within easy reach. And for sightseeing ventures across town, the Rådhuspladsen Metro stop is a five-minute walk away. Back home, the design is contemporary rather than charming, while the quiet courtyard is a nice bonus. The sofa bed adds flexibility for larger groups and the dining table doubles up as a handy workspace, but do keep in mind that some street noise should be expected here.
