Situated within a villa complex less than ten minutes' drive from Maspolamas, this recently renovated home will sing to those fond of contemporary design.

You're in Gran Canaria, after all – gorgeous weather is par for the course. When you aren’t bobbing over the currents in the warm waters – the ocean temperature fluctuates from 20-24 degrees year-round – head to the complex’s shared pool to rinse off the sea salt and mingle with the neighbours.

Inside, the tropical wallpaper reminds us that this island is just off the coast of Africa with a warm climate all year round. Another thing we love here is that you can step out of both bedrooms onto a terrace. There are fresh bread rolls delivered every morning for free, too – a nice touch. This small resort is situated a few kilometres from Playa del Ingles, and other nearby attractions include the dunes of Maspalomas.

Located in Salobre Golf Resort in the south of the island, this home feels like an oasis in the lunar-like landscapes of Gran Canaria.

The home itself is cosy and relaxing, with plenty of space and comfy furnishings on which to relax after your tee-off. Along the walls are huge floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to the verdant garden and also have the added benefit of inviting plenty of natural light inside.

What's more, the outdoor space is equally as impressive as the interior. You can take in views of the hilly landscape from the terrace with your morning coffee or opt for a dip in the heated swimming pool instead.

If paddling about gives you the inspiration to head to the beach, you don't have too far to go — it's only ten minutes' drive to Playa Las Mujeres, for instance. Closer to home, there's a golf course and restaurant within the resort, while there are some impressive vantage points and hiking routes to be discovered nearby.

Go off-grid for a while at this swoon-worthy casa perched amidst the hills of the charming town of Tejeda. Outside, this home may look like a traditional Finca. But step inside, and there’s nothing twee about this stylish abode. Creative types will love the boho feel about this place. Rustic, natural hues provide a subtle backdrop to those architectural picture windows, revealing blue skies and far-reaching mountains landscapes. Pad out across the cool wooden floors onto the sun terrace with your morning coffee. Come together for alfresco lunches beneath the dappled sun peeking through the bougainvillea vines. Cool off from the midday sun in the shared infinity pool. Or feel anew beneath the outdoor shower. Wherever you choose to while away the time, those views will be right there. As night draws in and the lights of nearby Tejeda begin to twinkle, take a seat beside the outdoor fire pit and prepare to be dazzled as a blanket of stars engulf the sky. And despite its tranquil setting, you’re closer to the action than you think. The charming town of Tejeda is just ten minutes on foot, with its traditional restaurants and the sublime pastry shop, Dulceria Nublo (prepare to join a queue). Or for something a little more adrenaline-pumping, there’s ecotours and rock climbing aplenty close by. Though it’s highly likely, you may never want to leave this place.

This home is a rare find – it has a peaceful and private setting, and yet it's just a few minutes walk from the historic city of La Orotava. Surrounded by a plantation of avocados, relax on the multiple terraces (five no less), cool off from the Tenerife sun in the infinity waterfall pool with its Atlantic Ocean vistas or unwind in the hot tub. 

We love the professionally designed gardens – our favourite spot is the yoga/meditation corner –  very zen. There's a fantastic outdoor kitchen, too – cook up a feast while you enjoy the fabulous views of Mount Teide, the forests and hills. As sunset arrives, pick some mint for your mojitos from the herb garden or feel free to pick a lemon for your G&T. As the light continues to fade, gather around the designer fire pit. 

Or, on cooler evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove indoors. Here, you'll find gorgeous beamed, vaulted ceilings, as well as original pictures and sculptures.

There's plenty to do out and about too. Hire a bike and explore the terrain (many professional cycling teams train here). If you prefer something a bit less energetic, there are three golf courses within easy reach, including one designed by Seve Ballestros. The nearest beach is 3 kilometres away, along with the popular resort beaches and Lido in Puerto de la Cruz, while La Orotava has an array of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.



Mount Teide Vistas

Perched high above the shores of Las Palmas' famous Las Canteras Beach, this apartment's terrace is a seaside show-stopper. Whether you're lolling about on the sun loungers with a cocktail and a good book, sharing alfresco tapas around the outdoor table or chilling out in the stylish living area with the windows wide open, the rolling tides and clear blue skies paint a postcard-worthy backdrop. 

It's downright dreamy – you can hear the waves crashing below you and feel the salt kiss your skin. And it's no surprise that the sunsets are unmissable. Better still, the communal swimming pool provides a refreshing place to relax when you don't fancy a dip in the sea – and it's got stunning panoramas to match.

When you're ready to venture out, the golden sands are a mere one-minute stroll away – spend your days lounging in the sand and splashing in the sea. Grab dinner and drinks at one of the waterfront restaurants or pick up some local produce and rustle up something tasty back at home. For a change of scenery (though who would want to leave that view behind?), Catedral de Santa Ana de Canarias in the historic district is a sixteen-minute taxi ride away.

Right on the beachfront at La Canteras, this home has a fabulous spot. Take in the fantastic Atlantic and La Canteras Beach views from this home’s sunny and dazzling whitewashed terrace. You can even spot Mount Teide in Tenerife in the distance. We love this outdoor space, it's ideal for an alfresco breakfast (whizz up a drink in the juicer to accompany some churros). Later, do some sunbathing on the sun loungers. Inside, there are more of those fabulous vistas through the large sliding doors.

In the afternoon, perhaps head to La Canteras  Beach, under a minute stroll away. It’s one of the best urban beaches in the world, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sample in the vicinity too. Or, for a bit of culture, Las Palmas Cathedral is a ten-minute ride away. It’s a couple of minutes more to Casa-Museo de Colón, which documents Columbus’ voyages. 


Somewhere on a Beach

Start your mornings at this Gran Canaria duplex with a café con leche on the balcony that is attached to the main bedroom, offering great views both day and night. Soak up some sunshine on the loungers on your private terrace or sit under the shade of the awning with a great holiday read. Then, why not take a dip in the complex’s swimming pool, which even has a children’s pool for your little ones?  

Spend days on the sandy beach – which can be reached in just twenty-one minutes on foot – or if you’re more adventurous, then rent a surfboard and hit the waves. Play a round of golf – a five-minute drive away, or keep your eyes on the horizon and go dolphin and whale watching – reachable within eight minutes by car.

In the evening, you could treat yourself to a massage, before unwinding in the soothing bubbles of your private hot tub, overlooking the pool below. Then, take advantage of the home’s barbecue and cook some delicious grilled tapas for dinner.

This eco-friendly studio apartment is situated just moments away from the Las Canteras beach, making it a good base for a couple or a solo traveller. Thanks to the central location, a car is not essential here, as you’ll have plenty of shopping and dining options to choose from within walking distance. Public transport options are also excellent if you want to explore further afield. The pad may be compact in size but there’s enough space here for two guests to be comfortable, and with good internet speed, you can also catch up on work during your stay – although you'll have to set-up shop around the dining table since there isn't a desk.

Sailing for Sights

A sophisticated studio in the heart of Las Palmas, this flat may be pocket-sized, but it's packed with style. Modern artwork, crisp cream walls, glossy wood floors – you definitely won't find any seaside kitsch here.

Start the day with a cup of coffee and a Spanish omelette prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen. If you need to attend to a few pesky work emails, pull up a chair and get down to business at the desk. Come evening, sprawl out on the white leather sofa with a glass of sangria and rest your feet after a day in the sunshine. 

And speaking of the weather, you won't find a sweeter spot to bask in the Gran Canaria rays than on Las Canteras Beach. And, even better, it's mere moments from your doorstep – about a minute's walk, in fact. The go-to place for surfing, sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling, chances are, you'll spend every moment with your toes in the sand. There's also an excellent selection of cocktail bars, beachfront restaurants and ice cream parlours nearby for those nights when you don't fancy cooking. What can be dreamier than that?
