If you’re looking for some sun, sea and sand, this spot is ideal as it’s just a one-minute walk to the nearby sandy beach. If you’re craving a little adventure or looking for activities to keep the kids entertained, you’ll find a waterpark, zoo and 18-hole golf course just a five-minute drive away. Of course, there’s plenty to do at home, thanks to the private heated pool and alfresco seating.

The vast minimalist spaces of the home overlooking the mountains and seas are both relaxing and theatrical in terms of aesthetics. And while we cannot get enough of the sophisticated kitchen and Al Fresco dining by the pool, there's a whole lot going on right outside your door. That's just one of the perks of living in the former fishing village of Puerto del Carmen, brimming with restaurants and places to explore. Walk through the town, stopping at the many markets on the way till you reach the stunning Old Town Harbour. Settle in for a feast of tapas and delicious local wines. Once you're through, explore the many beaches around, some bustling and others introspective. If you ever tire yourself out, escape with a taxi boat to Puerto Calero Marina, and uncover a more upmarket take on the beach life.

The location of this villa is unbeatable. Restaurants, shops, and Puerto del Carmen's kilometre-long beach are less than a ten-minute walk away, so exploring on foot is a piece of cake. On the days you want to take it easy, swap a dip in the Atlantic for a swim in the private pool. There's also a sunny roof terrace, where you can perch with a glass of wine and admire distant ocean views. The fuss-free interiors won't be winning any awards for style, but they're comfortable nonetheless. We think it's a convenient option for families wanting to be close to the action.

This Puerto del Carmen villa is situated a short drive from Old Town Harbour, waterfront eateries and sandy beaches. Inside may be traditional in style, but it doesn't lack space – and with all the bedrooms on the ground floor, it would work well for guests with limited mobility. On the lower level, a ping-pong table will keep kids entertained, while the beamed loft upstairs makes for a lovely reading nook. That said, it's the terrace that caught our attention. With its private pool, dappled dining area and comfy lounge chairs, it's no wonder you'll spend most of your time here outside, soaking up the Canarian sun.

An escape to the island of Lanzarote is made all the better when you choose to stay at this glorious holiday home. It sits in a peaceful spot in Los Mojones, close to the fun-filled resort town of Puerto del Carmen and within walking distance of the laid-back and lovely beach of Playa Chica.

The private gardens of this home are absolutely idyllic – the stunning outdoor pool provides views out to the ocean, so you can admire dreamy blue views while you float, swim and splash. Here, you'll find plenty of poolside loungers where you can rest in the sun with your nose in a good book. There's also an alfresco dining area where you can toast a glass of Cava to your wonderful getaway.

Inside, the home is contemporary and cool, with characterful artwork, modern spotlighting and glossy furniture – and the floor-to-ceiling windows here also mean you can enjoy the stunning surrounding views without setting foot outside. You can gather around the kitchen breakfast bar and tuck into delicious dishes of paella and tapas together, before heading to the lounge to watch the sunset over the ocean in the distance.

A gorgeous pool and a shaded alfresco area await guests at this large home in southern Lanzarote – perfect for that long-awaited friend reunion or family getaway. While the bedrooms and living room are perfectly functional, if a little light on colour and design, it's the outdoor area that'll get you excited. With plenty of sun loungers and shaded seating, sun lovers and the sun-phobic are equally catered for here. You can feed the troops at the barbeque, or head to one of the nearby eateries, while the nearest beach is less than a mile away.

After a busy day exploring the Puerto del Carmen coastline, the comfortable chaise leather sofa invites you to kick back and relax with a book and a glass of wine in the evenings, before you take your pick of bedrooms, each with terrace access, to settle down for the night. 

Sunny days will be spent poolside, soaking up the Spanish sun from the comfort of your lounger with a cocktail in hand. For a little respite from the heat of the day, sink into the refreshing water of the private pool where you’re afforded total privacy, courtesy of the lava rock wall encapsulating the garden. If you start to feel a little peckish, fear not – there’s a barbecue which promises a delightful alfresco meal, all you need is someone to take charge and get grilling.

When it’s time to head out to explore, a ten-minute stroll will see you wandering the quaint streets of the old town and harbour, or if you fancy a beach day, it’s just a fifteen-minute walk from your home-away-from-home.

You’ve also got a comfy balcony with views of the neighbourhood. On top of that, this home is a short walk from the beaches, bars and restaurants of Playa del Carmen.

There isn't a much better tonic for the soul than the combination of ocean views and sunshine. Wake up to precisely that every morning when you wander out to the balcony – here, you can eat breakfast alfresco or sit quietly with nothing but the sea salt breeze and a good cup of coffee. 

Make the most of the sunshine by lounging poolside, leaving your book behind to slip into the crystal clear water of the private pool whenever sunbathing gets a little hot. 

After a lazy morning, you might head out to explore the island. The beach is only a walk away, and if you're feeling particularly adventurous, you might even try your hand at the watersports on offer. There's also the potential for deep sea fishing and other island excursions that'll give you the full island experience, but be sure not to miss Puerto del Carmen. It still has the charm of an old fishing village, but with plenty of restaurants where you can get an authentic taste of Lanzarote. 

Make your way back home in time for sunset drinks on the rooftop bar and spend the rest of the evening chatting under the stars with a glass of wine.

Equipped with a brick-built BBQ, you can cook up a storm in the outdoor kitchen area, ready to enjoy a feast with your nearest and dearest in the lovely alfresco dining area. There is plenty to keep you entertained in Blissful Retreat, but if you feel like heading out, you're not too far from the beautiful sandy beach and the strip of shops and bars that line it.
