This bright and comfortable apartment is just a stone’s throw from the Royal Palace of Madrid. The official residence of the Head of State is open to the public, so you can explore the spot where centuries of Spanish history took place. The apartment is also just in front of the Sabatini Gardens, and 100 metres from Príncipe Pio train station. Plaza de España is only a five-minute walk away, too. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room, so things might feel a little crowded – you’re unlikely to be spending much time at home though.

The bold prints and stylish furniture only add to the loud, proud and metropolitan ambience. The space itself is also absolutely stunning, with a large, light-filled kitchen/living/dining space that is the undoubted heart of the home. Large picture windows frame the views over the neighbourhood from your vantage point on the eleventh floor. When you want to get a little closer to the action, there's a balcony where you can sit out and enjoy your morning caffeine hit or pre-dinner aperitifs. Continue through to the en-suite bedroom, and the soothing neutral tones set you up for a restful night's sleep, with a spacious dressing area to try on outfit options for the day ahead once you've raised yourself from the comfy bed. The immediate area around the apartment is leafy and residential, so you're in for a more authentic Madrid experience than the usual tourist hotspots. However, the apartment offers the best of both worlds, as many of Madrid's main sights – including the Palacio Real and Plaza Mayor – are within a fifteen-minute walk, while the likes of the Museo Nacional del Prado are under half an hour away on foot.

This home might not be the largest in our collection, but it more than makes up for its petite size with its fabulous location. Situated right on the Plaza de España, it puts you right in the heart of Madrid and makes the perfect place to begin your adventures. 

Step inside, and you'll find a sleek, modern space with parquet flooring and high ceilings. The sofa is great for relaxing in the evening and folds out into a bed, for flexible sleeping arrangements. There's also a little dining table and a chic green-tiled kitchen, where you can whip up tasty meals to refuel after a busy day. And, the stylish blue and mustard yellow colour scheme throughout the apartment creates a sense of calm that will make you feel right at home. 

The Plaza de España right outside the flat is a great place to familiarise yourself with the city – go for a stroll, and soak up the atmosphere of this popular meeting place. And, as this home isn’t the biggest, and the bedroom is separated from the open-plan living, dining room and kitchen with a curtain, we think it’s best suited to families or groups happy to share their space. The kitchen is fine for whipping up light bites, but for more extensive meals, we’d recommend dining out at a local Spanish eatery.

Drop your bags and settle into this Madrid apartment, ideal for families and friend groups alike. While there is space for up to eight, the maximum occupancy is six so you can guarantee there'll be room for everyone. The main bedroom enjoys an en-suite bathroom, and all the bedrooms have windows to an interior patio which provides natural light. The location is central, so while there is the potential for outside noise, you'll have hotspots like Parque del Oeste and Madrid's Royal Palace nearby, with public transport for easy exploration.

Keen to be in the hustle and bustle? This apartment, just a ten-minute stroll from Gran Vía, may be a great choice. It's easy to get to all the landmarks on foot or by metro, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Unsurprisingly it can get a tad noisy – but that's part of the city experience. We love the bright living area, and the two snug bedrooms channel Spanish sunshine with their yellow paint. Size-wise, it's rather compact but still comfortable – just note that it's on the second floor and lacks a lift.

We challenge you to find a prettier apartment overlooking the Royal Palace of Madrid. This place is a real showstopper, with twin Juliet balconies opening over Plaza de Oriente Gardens. A riot of elegant colours and patterns, it couldn't be further from modern minimalism if it tried.

Once you've arrived and stared out of the window for long enough to take it all in, choose between the two pretty bedrooms – one decorated in calming greens, the other in vibrant terracotta. There's a grand, open-plan living space to keep everything sociable, and a kitchen with everything you'll need for cooking at home. But we suspect you'll be eating out much of the time – it would be rude not to when surrounded by some of the best cafes and restaurants in the city. And with most of the major attractions on your doorstep too, you'll have plenty to see and do.

Located just outside Plaza Mayor’s arches, this ideally located apartment is the perfect base for those looking to soak up Madrid's vibrant, buzzing centre. 

Blending rustic charm with stylish modern accents, this home feels wonderfully Spanish. We love the exposed beamed ceilings and the wood floors, as well as the houseplants and colourful rug in the living area that add additional characterful flair. 
 
The bedroom is elegantly pared back, offering a comfortable night’s sleep, while the dining area invites celebratory homemade tapas feasts when you’re not out sampling the local dining scene. 
 
Our favourite spot, however, is the private balcony with its wide-sweeping views over the city’s rooftops. Enjoy an alfresco breakfast here while catching some morning rays or watch the sunset from your privileged position over an evening glass of Spanish wine. 
 
When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, you’ll find Plaza Mayor less than a minute’s walk away, while bustling Puerta del Sol is a four-minute stroll from your door. Elsewhere, the Royal Palace of Madrid is a ten-minute walk, the famous Museo Nacional del Prado is an eighteen-minute stroll, while leafy El Retiro Park is just over twenty minutes away on foot.

This is a well-executed home with curated artwork, where special attention has been given to the details. It might not be the biggest home in our collection, but it has a pleasant, bohemian chic vibe that fits in perfectly in the spirit of Malasaña.

After the plates are cleared, plan your itinerary at the dining table. We recommend starting with the Royal Palace, a mere ten-minute walk from your doorstep. If you’d like to stretch your legs a little further, it’s a thirty-minute stroll to El Retiro Park. Pause for a coffee on the buzzing Calle Cava Baja before picking a spot to bask in the sunshine beside El Retiro Lake.

Ten minutes from the alfresco drinking spots of Plaza Mayor, and just over fifteen from the lush greenery of the Parque de El Retiro, this apartment is a wonderful base in Madrid. Despite being so close to main attractions and located among the most vibrant streets, it’s a space where you can relax. This apartment is classy, colourful, and comfortable. The host has taken it upon themself to create a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, curating an eclectic look with antiques and flea-market finds. We love the living and dining room, complete with mid-century chairs and a chandelier to create an elegant glow for dinner parties. Another fabulous use of light comes from the shuttered windows to your private balcony. With three sets of rich, wooden folding doors, you can step out to the railings with a glass of tempranillo after supper to watch the city light up at nightfall. With decorative, gilded bed frames in the sumptuous bedrooms, you’ll even feel stylish while you sleep. Rest up well, because you’ve got some exploring to do the next morning – the three galleries of the Art Walk are all less than fifteen minutes away.

The Venetian

What a great location this apartment has in Madrid. The Royal Palace is just seven minutes on foot, while the Almudena Cathedral and the Plaza Mayor are within walking distance, too. As you'd expect from such a central location, you will hear some city noise while staying here. After all that exploring, you can sit in this home's shared courtyard and get your breath back. Inside, we love the living area's double-height ceilings and galleried landing, and there's a desk here if you need to catch up on work. We'd say the adjacent ground-floor bedroom isn't fully private, as it's a cubicle room with three-quarter-height walls – otherwise, this is a great home for couples, a family or business colleagues.

The City Butterfly

This chic and attractive apartment has everything you might need for a comfortable city break. It’s located in Chueca, one of Madrid’s liveliest neighbourhoods, full of cafes, boutiques, and bars. Despite its central location, this is a peaceful home-from-home, ideal for unwinding after busy sightseeing days and evenings spent feasting on tapas. It’s bright and welcoming, flooded with light, and has been beautifully decorated in muted tones. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room – if you’re hoping for more space, we’d recommend a maximum occupancy of two.

Boasting a privileged location on Madrid’s famous Gran Vía, this elegant apartment puts countless of the city’s most famous sights on your doorstep. It’s not just its incredibly central locale that caught our eye, however. Plasterwork ceilings, marble detailing and a whopping eleven Juliet balconies make this pad stand out from the crowd. Beautifully dressed bedrooms with bespoke wallpaper add to the luxe feeling here too. And did we mention the en-suite’s Turkish-style sauna shower? Of course, being in the beating heart of the capital means noise is to be expected. But we think it’s a small price to pay for a home as striking as this one.
