Its central location means you're surrounded by tempting tapas bars, charming neighbourhood cafes, and plenty of beautiful streets to wander down with no particular goal. So after a long day of adventuring, snuggle up on the cosy sofa and stream a classic Pedro Almodóvar movie before retreating to the serene bedrooms for a restful night's sleep. In the morning, sip on a cup of coffee as the colourful streets come to life below. Then, for blissful days out, take a stroll through the lush gardens of Jardines de Sabatini and Plaza de Oriente, mere minutes away from your home.

This is an elaborate home that impresses with the broad strokes as well as fine ones. An enviable structure with high ceilings and big windows is filled with custom-made furniture that leaves plenty of space to move around. We loved the use of space that puts desks, chairs and bold art pieces in unexpected places – against all odds, it works.

The entire home spreads across two floors, which exudes a cosy energy without being crowded. Once you've finished marvelling at your premium home, the magnetic energy of Madrid is just a moment away.

Major landmarks, such as the iconic Royal Palace, can be easily reached on foot. Embark on a day of sightseeing, fuelled by pit-stops at the authentic cafes and restaurants for fresh sangria and tasty paella. When the sun shines on the charming metropolis, there are an abundance of luscious parks to rest your legs.

If you'd prefer a low-key evening, you can rustle up some tapas in the kitchen and share food and conversation over the dining table.

You'll find this home in the heart of Madrid, close to the Gran Vía, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol. It's ideal for those in search of a central base from which to explore the city, but keep in mind that some street noise should be expected here. The apartment provides an open living area and a large dining table suitable for group feasts. You'll also find three en-suite bathrooms which will help to speed mornings along, plus a sleek bathtub in the main bedroom. And while there's no room for seating out on the balcony, we still think it's a pleasant spot to perch and gather your thoughts before heading out into the hustle and bustle of the Spanish capital.

Blending elements of Nordic minimalism with a few industrial elements, this is a home that knows a little can go a long way. The mostly white colour scheme lets all the small design elements express themselves well, while enlarging the space with the abundance of natural light. We loved the wire art pieces around this home and the minimalist kitchen.

If you love shopping, you’ll be happy to know that this apartment is just a few metres from Gran Vía. Other attractions a short stroll away include the Plaza de España and the Royal Palace of Madrid. This home is perfect for couples, single travellers and business professionals seeking an exceptional location. After all that retail therapy or exploring, there’s a terrace here to relax on, or on not-so-warm days chill out in the sunroom. We love the light and bright open-plan living room overlooking the outdoor space too.

This home is a prime example of rustic elegance – we could tell that the host had a vision and pulled all the stops in order to achieve it. The harmony of wood and wicker not only looks good, but also creates a warm atmosphere, working in partnership with the well-stocked kitchen and the soothing bathrooms. The Wickers Elephant is only a few minutes away from Plaza Mayor, which means you'll be just around the corner from Marid's most famous sights.

This apartment is within walking distance of an array of attractions, such as Parque Madrid Rio, Casa de Campo, the Royal Palace and La Almudena Cathedral. Of course, there are plenty of dining options to discover in the area, too. The apartment has a desk if you need to catch up on emails and a well-equipped kitchen for making some tapas. We have to say, we love the main bedroom with its dressing room and en-suite. This home is a great choice whether you’re here for leisure or work.

We love how shades of natural brown sit alongside elegant neutral notes here, while ample natural light pours in through the French doors in the living room. Open these up to enjoy the breeze as you kick back on the sofa with a glass of Spanish red, or perch by the Juliet balcony with your evening tipple as you people-watch from your privileged position. 
 
The dining table beckons sociable evenings over homemade dinners when you’re not out sampling the local tapas hangouts, while the bedrooms offer a comfortable night’s sleep leaving you feeling ready and relaxed for another day of exploring. 
 
Speaking of sightseeing, you’ve got plenty to see and do within easy walking distance, not least of all your own neighbourhood’s maze of narrow lanes filled with tapas bars and cantinas. What a great location this apartment has in Madrid. The Royal Palace is just seven minutes on foot, while the Almudena Cathedral and the Plaza Mayor are within walking distance, too. As you'd expect from such a central location, you will hear some city noise while staying here. After all that exploring, you can sit in this home's shared courtyard and get your breath back. Inside, we love the living area's double-height ceilings and galleried landing, and there's a desk here if you need to catch up on work. We'd say the adjacent ground-floor bedroom isn't fully private, as it's a cubicle room with three-quarter-height walls – otherwise, this is a great home for couples, a family or business colleagues.

Mirror Street was created with a sense of style – mixing minimalist furniture with a few ornamented elements works well and gives it a sense of sophistication. Their attention to detail is evident and is best reflected in the choice of high-quality glassware. This home is located a short walk away from Plaza Mayor, but the Royal Palace and other sights aren't much farther either.
