Set on a stunning country estate in the heart of Barbentane, this 18th-century house features an array of charming original features and modern amenities that guarantee a luxurious stay filled with memories. Wander around the hectare of grounds, where you'll find an abundance of fauna and flora amidst the rosemary and thyme gardens. Unwind on the surrounding lawns surrounded by Provençal plants, or better still, take a seat on the terrace shaded by the ancient trees.

The interior of the house has been sensitively restored. Classic features, including wooden beams, an open hearth and ornate tiles are maintained whilst modern finishes complement its original charm. There are plenty of spaces dedicated to relaxation inside the home - a serene living room with plush sofas or a calm master suite opening out to a Juliette balcony. We highly doubt a rainy day here, however, the pianist of the group can soundtrack evenings in front of the crackling fire if a shower does show.

Leisurely afternoons are best spent in the pool or lounging on the south-facing terrace. Come evening time, gather around the Mediterranean-style dining room for a chef-cooked dinner with the region’s best ingredients. End the evening with a few games of boules as the sunset unfolds.

Located around fifteen minutes from the centre of Avignon, you'll be within a short drive of an array of national parks and picturesque streets lined with boulangeries and local restaurants.

Behind the shuttered windows of this pretty farmhouse lies a cosy French home, with original stone walls, traditional fireplaces and wooden beams. But you'll probably want to spend most of your time outside in the gardens, swinging under a tree in a hammock or lounging around the swimming pool. That's when you're not hanging out in the beautiful outdoor seating area, drinking or eating with friends and family, of course. If you do manage to leave the beautiful surroundings, Avignon is only a fifteen-minute drive away, with the historic city of Nîmes just a little bit further.

With a loft apartment vibe – this home in Avignon is full of charm. We love the exposed stone walls and wooden beams, while the modernity of the stainless-steel kitchen and contemporary staircase blends well with the old. There's a Zen atmosphere here, too, thanks to the buddha artwork in the living space. Relax with a good book on the silver velvet sofa, then cook up a Provençal style lunch with ingredients from Avignon Halles, a mere three-minute walk away. However, there are plenty of eateries on your doorstep if you prefer to eat out. Later explore Palais des Papes – one of the most significant medieval Gothic buildings in Europe or watch a production at the Opéra Grand Avignon, both around ten minutes on foot. If nature is more your thing, go for a stroll around Barthelasse Island – there are 700 hectares of countryside to discover, and it's just ten minutes via the ferry. The iconic Pont d'Avignon, on the other hand, is a fifteen-minute saunter, while it’s the same walking distance to Rocher des Doms, a leafy hilltop park with a café.

Garden Escape is an old farmhouse that's been meticulously restored by the heritage-loving host. While plenty of period features remain, the interior is mostly furnished with high-end minimalist pieces that create a delightful hybrid atmosphere. Still, we don't expect you to be spending most of your time admiring the furniture — the outdoor parts of this home are far more exciting than the insides. From the alfresco spots and loungers scattered around the garden to the huge swimming pool that's perfect for  a morning swim, Garden Escape does its name justice. When you're ready to venture a little farther, the charming town of St-Remy where Van Gogh painted the famous 'Starry Night' is only a short walk away, but since you'll be staying in the heart of Provence, every road will take you to a beautiful market town. Bring back a nice bottle of wine and enjoy watching the sunset from the garden. Retreat to the breezy living room for a movie night, and prepare for another day of relaxation.

Within walking distance of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence's town centre, you'll discover restaurants, museums, and the region's grand market on your doorstep. Idyllic in every sense, the south-facing garden is perfect for sunbathing on the poolside terrace – although our favourite spot is the orangery, with its summer kitchen and light-filled living space. We love that multiple seating areas are spread across the main house, outdoor patio and a separate annexe, which is great for groups seeking to split off in their downtime.

Just two kilometres from this Provençal villa is the town depicted in a Van Gogh’s Starry Night. If that’s not enough to sell you on the scenic beauty of the green Avignon landscape surrounding the home, we’re not sure what is. Spacious enough for a family or group of couples and friends, the home is open-plan to adhere to sociable and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Start the day in the orangery with a traditional French breakfast and lounge in the shade under parasols by the pool. Find a place to hide in the secluded gardens, or get out and about for a hike in the nearby natural park for a rare bird sighting. Say au revoir to the day under the stars on the terrace.

Most likely influenced Provence's Romanesque monuments and rich history, the circular pool not only gives this home the "wow" factor, but also provides a place to cool down and re-energise after a day out in the sun.

Speaking of days out, you won't have any problems trying to fill your time here. Located just 1.5km from the Medieval town of Beaucaire, take a walk along the colourful, tree-lined marina, explore the castle and treat your tastebuds to a traditional French meal in this historic spot.

We particularly love the enormous, curved Orangerie style backdoor which paves the way to the magical garden setting featuring a shaded alfresco dining area, day beds and a crystal clear pool – divine for a refreshing dip during the height of summer in the south of France. Back inside, the stunning open-plan kitchen-living area ensures a sociable stay for the whole group to enjoy together. The kitchen in particular will excite guests who are fond of cooking as the large central island makes it perfect for group cooking sessions. Why not book for a private chef to come and give you French cooking lessons? You'll also find that the local area allows guests to experience French culture at its finest. Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

A thirty-minute drive from the red rooftops of Avignon, this home allows you to explore the depths of the Provence countryside. In this wonderfully organic landscape, it’s hard to believe you’re just an hour from the metropolis of Marseille. So if lush, verdant scenery is more your thing, this home certainly won’t disappoint.

Jade, forest, emerald, lime, olive, mint – you can use every single word for green to describe the charming exterior of this home. From tall leafy trees, to flowerbeds, to shrubs that flow onto the stone paths, this garden is a botanical marvel set over a hectare. Of course there’s a private pool, but we prefer the shade of the terrace and the boules court. You’ll love having meals at one of many alfresco dining spots, especially when you can cook in the fresh air of the outdoor kitchen.

As the cicadas come out by night, head into the main house. Its wooden doors and shutters are green, naturally. Traditional, rustic decor harks back to this home’s days as a farmhouse, but antique furniture and gilded frames create a luxury edge. Someone will be sleeping in the annexe – but its indoor hot tub might sway opinions a bit.

This beautiful home is what holidays in the south of France are all about. You’ll find shuttered windows and ivy creeping up the exterior of the soft-hued home, and two hectares of glorious green gardens. Whether you plan to doze in the shade of an ancient tree or swim laps in the tranquil heated swimming pool, you’ll feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. 

The farmhouse is located in the foothills of Les Alpilles a twenty-one-minute walk from Saint-Rémy. There you’ll find restaurants and cafes, as well as the fascinating archaeological site of Glanum. 

Les Alpilles is a great place to stay if you’re keen to be active on your holiday – don’t worry though, there’s still plenty of opportunity for eating pastries and sipping wine. Head to the pretty hilltop town of Eygalières – just seventeen minutes away – to ride bikes or take the children pony-trekking. The scenery is breath-taking. History buffs will enjoy a day trip to Avignon, where you’ll find two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The journey takes thirty-eight minutes and you’ll be rewarded with rich history, a lively art and culture scene and Michelin-starred restaurants. 

Back at the villa after a busy day, relax on the terrace with a book while the kids splash in the pool or play on the swings. Once they’ve gone to bed, spend some time in the Jacuzzi gazing up at the night sky.

We love the outdoors here – under the gorgeous sun, you can enjoy cocktails by the pool or play lawn games with the kids. When mealtimes roll around, you can get as much or as little sun as you like with one alfresco area in the sun and the other shaded. Indoors, the super-king beds in each room mean everyone gets a great night's sleep, while the bathrooms on each of the three floors are an excellent convenience.

This 18th-century farmhouse turned artist’s residence is a work of art in its own right and comes with everything creative minds might look for. Mosaic floors, intricate sculptures and whimsical paintings adorn the house and garden, while the communal spaces brim with all the modern comforts you could need. Personal flourishes are found in each bedroom; they come uniquely decorated (and fragranced). We’d recommend you pack your paint brushes, too - St-Rémy-de-Provence, an essential place of pilgrimage for any budding artist, is only a short drive away.

A sprawling and chic home just a five-minute drive from the pretty town of Saint-Rémy, La Piscine is a true Provençal home with terracotta tiles, patterned outdoor brickwork and exposed wooden beams in the master bedroom that create a relaxed and rustic vibe. The pool is the stuff of dreams, as is the bedroom in the pool-facing annexe, and there are plenty more activities to keep you busy, including boules, table football and ping pong. We loved the covered terrace – pretty and practical, it promises al fresco dining all year round.

Location-wise, you couldn't ask to be in a better spot if you're looking for a taste of Provence. The house is located in the Alpilles Regional Natural Park, just a short drive from the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, providing you with surrounding natural beauty and a charming commune to explore. Back home, the private lap pool is a real highlight, while the outdoor dining areas and manicured gardens add something special to this private home.

Perfect for a large group, this home is made up of a renovated stonehouse with three annexes offering independent access – just the ticket for groups who still value some privacy. Four bedrooms can be found in the main house, two of which are on the ground floor with outdoor access which will suit those with limited mobility but they're best avoided for younger children. With an outdoor kitchen, pool house, a selection of sun-kissed terraces and of course, the private pool, outdoor living is a must – the Provençal sun is impossible to resist, after all.

Striking the balance between old and new isn’t always easy when restoring a home, but if you ask us, the hosts of Rambling Laurels have got it just right. Antique architectural features combine with soft colours and modern textures to create a home that’s both contemporary and respectful of the original structure of this period building. Outside, the gardens are filled with the scent of climbing roses and blossoming fruit trees, perfect for children’s explorations and outdoor picnics. When you leave the home, you’ll find yourself in the quiet countryside just outside Saint Rémy de Provence, known for being the home of Van Gogh. Take a trip around the villages and fields and see if you can spot the settings of some of his masterpieces.

The Lemon Garden is a delightful farmhouse conversion with huge gardens, meadows, and olive orchards. You'll be able to smell the lavender as soon as you arrive and we highly recommend a daily walk just to take in the natural beauty that surrounds your holiday residence. The Provençal character in this home is extremely powerful — think rustic furnishings, period features, and plenty of outdoor hangouts with natural shade where you can enjoy a glass of local wine. Since you'll be staying only three kilometres from St-Rémy, we strongly recommend that you drive there at least once, finding clues of what inspired Van Gogh to pain some of his most powerful works here. We expect you'll stumble on a few shops along the way and bring back ingredients for a proper meal, then put them together in the well-equipped kitchen. If you have time in your busy schedule, go for a refreshing swim in the private pool and do a bit of reading before dinner. Watch the sunset together from the comfort of your garden and retreat indoors to watch a movie together.

After Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence shone a light on the laidback South of France lifestyle in the early 90s, it became almost impossible to find a simple, totally authentic French village that wasn’t already swarming with holidaymakers to visit. But we’ll let you into a secret. Saint Hilaire-d’Ozilhan is just that. And this traditional, honey-coloured home surrounded by gently swaying trees is the perfect retreat for your French countryside escape. Inside you’ll find a simple but elegantly furnished space, with white walls, exposed wooden beams and sparse but comfortable grey furniture. There’s both a table football and a pool table in the living rooms, plus a neat kitchen with striking chocolate marble countertops. The garden is spectacular, with a pool and jacuzzi, plus gorgeous views of the valley down below. The village is a short walk from your front door, and you'll find a smattering of shops, restaurants, and a very pretty church. Avignon, with its famous pont (that’s bridge, just in case you don’t know the song) is only a twenty-minute ride away, and Peter Mayle territory (aka the hill-top towns of the Luberon) is about an hour’s drive.

If you're looking for a French villa with true character, Here Comes The Sun is a great option. With typical rustic features that include exposed brick and beam contrasting the modern features, this home is a great place to help you relax and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. Wake up with a nice cup of coffee on the balcony, then pick up your local delivery of baked goods that can be brought right to your front door, then set up a little breakfast for the rest. If you're feeling rather adventurous, hike all the way to Pont du Gard or take the car if you want see as much as you can in a single day. When you're back, go for a relaxing swim in the pool and enjoy a nice glass of locally produced wine, then maybe visit the nearby town of Uzès and explore the local restaurants. The wider area is filled with stunning gold courses and plenty of activities, but there's absolutely no rule that says you can't just stay in your superbly cosy holiday residence and curl up with a good book.

On arrival, you’ll be impressed by the vaulted stone ceiling in the entranceway – and this is just the start. Up a narrow spiral staircase, you’ll find a cosy sitting room with a library among other attractive rooms equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Best of all, this townhouse has its own private heated pool for you to swim in. There’s also a roof terrace that’s ideal for sunset cocktails.

This villa is the definition of Provençal charm. This stone-walled home sits in the heart of the village, Vers-Pont-du-Gard, where one of France’s most visited ancient monuments lies and where we imagine you’ll want to spend some time kayaking. The town is fairly quiet, but nearby Uzès offers buckets of culture should you wish to spend a day out. At the villa, you’ll find plenty of space for guests to spend time together and moments for downtime solo – there’s a fully-equipped apartment for those seeking a little extra privacy. We love the authentic details here,  though you’ll need to mind your head on the beams – that aside, it’s a lovely place to call home.

At foot of the Mont Ventoux, in the heart of Vaucluse, nestled between centuries-old oaks and flowers, this charming home is perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all. First and foremost, with a pretty south-east facing garden, furnished terrace and private swimming pool, there's plenty of outdoor space to while away sun-soaked afternoons in the French countryside, with nothing but the sound of the chirping birds to interrupt your rest and relaxation. 

Inside the cottage, appealing artwork adorns the walls and a ruby-red colour palette runs throughout the open-plan kitchen, living and dining space to make for warm and welcoming interiors that will quickly have you feeling right at home. There's a different look in the bedroom with muted grey tones and palm-themed wallpaper to lull you into your restful slumbers with ease, ready for a day of exploring in the morning. 

Location-wise, you've struck gold. While the quaint commune of Carpentras, with its mini-markets, cosy bakeries, cafés, shops and restaurants, is right on your doorstep, you can also reach a number of interesting cities and tourist attractions within minutes. You're a thirty-two-minute drive from Avignon, forty minutes from Gordes, and only twenty-five minutes by car from the Grotte de Thouzon caves, just to name a few.

Outside there’s lots of greenery, with a plant-filled terrace and small, lawned garden to enjoy. While the swimming pool is on the small side, the pretty surroundings mean it’s still a pleasant place to cool off. Location wise, you’re close to the centre of Loumarin, often voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, where you’ll find cobbled streets, an array of cafes and restaurants, and a bustling, weekly market.
