Our favourite bit is the expansive roof terrace, the ideal place to gather for soaking up the Corsican sunshine. The well-shaded dining area has its own barbecue so you can sit down to eat alfresco at lunchtime. There’s also a relaxing chill-out area, with wicker furniture and beanbags overlooking the Mediterranean sea below. If you can tear yourself away from your home's many little luxuries, you're only a fifteen-minute walk from a sandy beach and the charming marina filled with bobbing yachts, while just outside your door, the Old Town offers up restaurants, bars and plenty of cultural attractions including the impressive Église St-Jean-Baptiste.

With an advantageous hillside position giving way to panoramic views of Palombaggia Bay, this home is all about tranquillity. You'll find a private swimming pool and alfresco dining table all positioned towards the scenery. Personally, we like the little observation nook. Not only does the interior design feel bright and modern, but being on the ground floor of the building means that the home has its own private terrace, too. What's more, guests get access to the complex's shared gardens and outdoor swimming pool, which is more than big enough for you to practise your breaststroke. The home's location has lots going in its favour too, with the centre of Porto Vecchio just over ten minutes away in the car and the nearest beach taking less than five minutes to reach on foot.

Grab an authentic taste of Sardinia life with a stay at this contemporary home perched along the seafront of the bustling port town of Olbia. Its central location, set close to the town’s historic centre crammed with wine bars and a restaurant-lined plaza, will come in handy as there’s no kitchen at this home. Spend the afternoon reading or reclining on the raised terracotta terrace or wander about the garden while inhaling the intoxicating scents of eucalyptus and maquis. Whatever you do, don’t forget to host a hammam session before grabbing a bottle of the estate’s fine wine and watching the sunset behind the mountains.

Alternatively, if you fancy a little light exploration, one of the island’s most idyllic beaches, Plage de Roccapina is just 14km away whilst the historic village of Sartène can be reached in 20 minutes by car.

With a private garden overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, this charming bungalow makes for a restful stay. The interiors are on the minimal side of things, but the space feels perfectly practical and inviting. Outside, you’ll find a dining table and barbecue to share alfresco dinners, and as night falls, you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of locally-produced Vermentino. Although there isn’t a swimming pool here, the sands of Quarta Spiaggia are just a few steps away, so after soaking up the sun, you can cool off in the crystal-clear waters.

While Luculumbu Beach is within walking distance, there’s not much else to do in the surrounding area, so a car is a must here. The home itself is well-appointed and the views of the Mediterranean Sea from the swimming pool speak for themselves. Just a heads up, bed linens and towels are an additional extra and will need to be booked before your arrival.

From the moment you step inside this home, you’ll be drawn out onto the terrace. Secluded and serene, it has the most stunning views across the bay of Ajaccio – a sight we’re sure you’ll never tire of. 

Wander back inside, and this home gives a very distinct nod to its surroundings. Pops of teal and blue are peppered throughout this apartment, mirroring the tones of the ocean outside, and with coastal decor adorning the walls and shelves. It’s compact but comfortable with that little touch of class, making it the ideal base for exploring the local area. 

Locally, you may want to visit the old town of Ajaccio or perhaps you long to feel the sand between your toes – if so, you’re in luck, as Porticcio beach is just a short four-minute drive away. After a day of adventure, return home, pour yourself a glass of wine, and head onto your terrace where you can snuggle up on the sofa. As the day draws to an end, watch as the sun sets over the Iles Sanguinaires (The Blood Islands) – named for their dark red colour. As the sky turns from its orange glow to black, look up at the blanket of stars above. With just the sound of the ocean and the feel of the breeze tickling your skin, you won’t find a better way to end the day.

If rest and relaxation are top priorities, look no further than this villa on Sardinia’s northwest coast. The place is unfussy but well-equipped and the separate bedroom and bathroom are ideal for those who’d like their own space. Just so you know, bed linen and towels aren’t included in the price and will need to be requested at the time of booking. Outside, there are plenty of spots to unwind in the sunshine and the private pool offers knockout views of the Mediterranean Sea. Location-wise, you’re a short drive from traditional restaurants and Li Cossi Beach.

Now that's what we call a view. Whether you're relaxing on the balcony, swimming in the pool or whipping up a feast in the kitchen, you'll be able to watch the waves rolling in the sea. Although bed linen and towels are an additional cost, each bedroom is comfortable and cosy – but, as there's only space for eight around the table, we think ten guests will be a squeeze. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

Serene Seas

You’ll find this unfussy villa in northeast Sardinia, around 500 metres from Le Saline Beach and 11 kilometres from the city of Olbia, home to the medieval San Simplicio basilica and a palm-fringed waterfront. Back at the abode, two living areas provide plenty of space for the whole group to stretch out and the garden is the ideal spot to relax in the sunshine or shade. Granted, there’s no swimming pool here, but with the coast so easily accessible we don’t think you’ll mind too much.
