The newly built townhouse is all about minimalist, chic style – think muted tones and dark floor tiles in rooms. The occasional string of fairy lights and intriguing fabric mask inject some colour into the space, but really it's the series of patios and terraces where you'll be spending most of your time. Set on two levels, the plot has several outdoor spaces for congregating. During the day, the front patio is flooded with sunshine, so take up your spot on the sun loungers to soak up some rays. As the evening starts to draw in, the private back courtyard is all set for an intimate night, starting with drinks on the corner grey sofa, before moving to the alfresco dining table next to the tree that's pushed its way through the floor slats. There’s also a relaxing chill-out area, with wicker furniture and beanbags overlooking the Mediterranean sea below. If you can tear yourself away from your home's many little luxuries, you're only a fifteen-minute walk from a sandy beach and the charming marina filled with bobbing yachts, while just outside your door, the Old Town offers up restaurants, bars and plenty of cultural attractions including the impressive Église St-Jean-Baptiste.

There are two stand-up paddleboards for you to use, which is a great way of exploring the coast a little further. There are plenty of beaches to explore aside from your own – why not drive seven minutes to Spiaggia dei Baracconi?

Rinse off the sand in the outdoor hot water shower, then start thinking about dinner. Maybe you’ll pop into town for some fresh seafood, or perhaps you’ll get to work in the outdoor kitchen? Fire up the barbecue for a family feast on the terrace. When the plates have been cleared, slip into the Jacuzzi to watch the sun go down.

From here you can explore the area's hidden coves and peaceful beaches on foot, and spend your evenings drinking in the spectacular sea sunsets. You’ll have a Jacuzzi to unwind in but no pool, so this home will really only appeal to those who enjoy sea swimming and the feel of sand underfoot. The twin rooms are ideal for children. Bedding and towels aren’t included in the price but can be provided for an additional fee.

Blooming bougainvillea frames the stunning views this Sardinian home has to offer. It’s a romantic home set in the hills above Costa Smeralda, with plenty of room for a large group. The outside space is dreamy, with lush gardens and a huge veranda – though the swimming pool is shared with the other guests on the development. You’ll need to pay for your bed and bath linens – or bring your own – and we think hiring a car is a good idea if you want to get out to see more of north east Sardinia – and with these sea views, you'll be dying to hit the beach.

Whether you’re a family or a group of friends, this villa provides a comfortable base from which to explore Sardinia’s northwest coast. While Luculumbu Beach is within walking distance, there’s not much else to do in the surrounding area, so a car is a must here. The home itself is well-appointed and the views of the Mediterranean Sea from the swimming pool speak for themselves. Just a heads up, bed linens and towels are an additional extra and will need to be booked before your arrival.

Inside the villa is crisp and modern, though you’ll have to pay for bed and bath linen (or bring your own). When you’re not at the beach, you can soak up the rays on the hiking and cycling trails of the Gallura area – it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore.

Inside provides a welcome respite from the heat of the midday sun, with cool terracotta floors, traditional furniture and local handicrafts. You’re 2km away from a string of white sand beaches, as well as the Marina di Portisco with its selection of waterfront restaurants. The characterful borgo of San Pantaleo is just inland and is ideal for picking up fresh produce for an Italian style feast come the evening. You’ll want to be back home before the sun goes down though, for an aperitif with a view.

When you’re on terra firma, you’ll enjoy the outside space here – the private pool and shaded terrace are where we’d be spending most of our time. Some of the decor is a little dated, but there’s also plenty of charm here – you’ll need to pay for bedding and towels though.

Elsewhere away from home, the crystal-blue waters of Golfo Aranci are 15 kilometres away and the beach of Liscia Ruja – one of the jewels of the Costa Smeralda – is 14 kilometres.

Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

When you fancy a beach day, hop in the car and drive over to Spiaggia di Marinella for a day on the sand. And, if you're feeling adventurous, head inland to hike through the epic landscapes – there's no place quite like Sardinia.

Stretch your legs with a stroll over to the Punto Panoramico, thirteen minutes away, for knockout views of the Mediterranean or jump in the car and take the five-minute drive to the small fishing village of Stintino – we couldn’t get enough of the pastel-hued buildings and charming cobbled streets.
