A short drive from the city of Montpellier, this villa offers fantastic views and plenty to do. We think it's a great choice for families and friend groups – it's bursting with amenities, including all-terrain bikes, a pétanque court, a heated infinity pool, and a gym and sauna. The dedicated office has a double sofa bed for two guests, and there are two EV chargers here for added convenience. We do recommend hiring a car here to make the most of your stay, whether it's exploring Montpellier or the village of Montferrier-sur-Lez, or spending a day at the beach.

With its secluded, heated pool, this elegant apartment housed in a 16th-century building in Uzès is the perfect French retreat. This charming restored home is full of character, from the remarkable circular stone staircase and wooden ceiling beams to the old stone floors. We love the gracious living room with its views over the fig and bamboo trees, the pool and the town's rooftops. There's a wood-burning stove, too, for cosy nights when the weather turns chilly and a desk for catching up on work as well. 

This place is ideal for a couple or family with two children. The icing on the cake here is the incredible hospitality from your lovely hosts. They can arrange all sorts of activities for you to do, including walking tours and cookery classes. 

When you're ready to explore the area, take a stroll around the town and admire the wonderful architecture or head to its renowned weekly market, then take a seat at one of its traditional restaurants. Further afield, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pont du Gard, under a twenty-minute drive away, or discover historic Nîmes, around thirty minutes in the car.

We think it's ideal for a romantic getaway – children aren't permitted here, so you can take advantage of the peace and quiet. With your own Jacuzzi on the terrace and a private pool heated between April and October, it's well-equipped for alfresco living. We highly recommend hiring a car here to make the most of this gorgeous location, whether it's a day trip to Sommières or the bustling Montpellier.

After Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence shone a light on the laidback South of France lifestyle in the early 90s, it became almost impossible to find a simple, totally authentic French village that wasn’t already swarming with holidaymakers to visit. But we’ll let you into a secret. Saint Hilaire-d’Ozilhan is just that. And this traditional, honey-coloured home surrounded by gently swaying trees is the perfect retreat for your French countryside escape. Inside you’ll find a simple but elegantly furnished space, with white walls, exposed wooden beams and sparse but comfortable grey furniture. There’s both a table football and a pool table in the living rooms, plus a neat kitchen with striking chocolate marble countertops. The garden is spectacular, with a pool and jacuzzi, plus gorgeous views of the valley down below. The village is a short walk from your front door, and you'll find a smattering of shops, restaurants, and a very pretty church. Avignon, with its famous pont (that’s bridge, just in case you don’t know the song) is only a twenty-minute ride away, and Peter Mayle territory (aka the hill-top towns of the Luberon) is about an hour’s drive.

You'll be blown away by the quaint, idyllic scenes found both inside and outside of this home. We particularly love the enormous, curved Orangerie style backdoor which paves the way to the magical garden setting featuring a shaded alfresco dining area, day beds and a crystal clear pool – divine for a refreshing dip during the height of summer in the south of France. Back inside, the stunning open-plan kitchen-living area ensures a sociable stay for the whole group to enjoy together. The kitchen in particular will excite guests who are fond of cooking as the large central island makes it perfect for group cooking sessions. Why not book for a private chef to come and give you French cooking lessons? You'll also find that the local area allows guests to experience French culture at its finest. Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

Tucked away in the ancient heart of Montpellier, this sophisticated home blends its period features with modern styling. Set in among the warren of narrow streets, close to the opera, the cathedral and museums, it's a surprisingly quiet retreat. Here you'll climb the stairs to your apartment, set within a traditional building dating from the 1700s. And although it's been thoroughly modernised, you'll still see plenty of character details like high ceilings, exposed beams and pretty windows.

The sociable space is painted all-white, with a smart wood floor and a pretty well-equipped kitchen. There's a Juliet balcony in the living room and a sofa bed which boosts the capacity to up to four guests. A comfortable, stylish home in one of the best locations in town, we think you'll love it. From the alfresco spots and loungers scattered around the garden to the huge swimming pool that's perfect for  a morning swim, Garden Escape does its name justice. When you're ready to venture a little farther, the charming town of St-Remy where Van Gogh painted the famous 'Starry Night' is only a short walk away, but since you'll be staying in the heart of Provence, every road will take you to a beautiful market town. Bring back a nice bottle of wine and enjoy watching the sunset from the garden. Retreat to the breezy living room for a movie night, and prepare for another day of relaxation.

Set on a stunning country estate in the heart of Barbentane, this 18th-century house features an array of charming original features and modern amenities that guarantee a luxurious stay filled with memories. Wander around the hectare of grounds, where you'll find an abundance of fauna and flora amidst the rosemary and thyme gardens. The interior of the house has been sensitively restored. Classic features, including wooden beams, an open hearth and ornate tiles are maintained whilst modern finishes complement its original charm. We highly doubt a rainy day here, however, the pianist of the group can soundtrack evenings in front of the crackling fire if a shower does show.
