Having undergone a recent renovation, the owners have taken great care to retain the house's historic charm whilst adding modern amenities creating a warm and welcoming holiday home. Whether travelling as an extended family or with a group of friends, The property's space is ideal for sociable living with a charming and well-equipped kitchen and dining area opening out to the terrace for al-fresco dining and relaxation overlooking the pool. That said, there is always somewhere to escape to whether you seek a little solitude in the music room, play table tennis in the former wine store or watch TV in one of the two living rooms. The enclosed garden features your very own swimming pool with a plage-style entrance ideal for youngsters to splash around in. Enjoy al-fresco feasts by the barbecue, savouring some of the delicious produce found at local markets (including nearby Pézenas' famous Saturday morning market which dates back to the 14th century). On Friday evenings in the height of the summer the town comes alive with live music, street food and lots of good local wine during 'Les Estivales'.Languedoc's fine coastline is easily reached with Marseillan Plage and the old town of Sète within half an hour by car whilst other highlights of this region include wine villages, vineyards, garrigue perfect for hiking as well as the bustling town of Béziers. Venture a little further afield to visit the picture-perfect pilgrimage stop, Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, or spend the day exploring the magnificent citadel of Carcassonne, both classified as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Place yourself just a short stroll from those cobbled streets and 16th-century buildings by staying in this modern villa with its own annexe. French chic gets a remix here where a penchant for minimalism and chrome is softened by some more homely and snuggly furnishings. We’re particularly taken by the mosaic tiling in the walk-in shower and the beautiful views glimpsed from almost every room. Walk to the nearby boulangerie each morning and return with the base for a shared lunch on the terrace or spend family-centric time around the barbecue on a warm evening. It’s pleasant to imagine an afternoon spent walking the vibrant Pézenas streets once known to Molière before heading home for a refreshing dip in the pool. A short drive from the city of Montpellier, this villa offers fantastic views and plenty to do. We think it's a great choice for families and friend groups – it's bursting with amenities, including all-terrain bikes, a pétanque court, a heated infinity pool, and a gym and sauna. The dedicated office has a double sofa bed for two guests, and there are two EV chargers here for added convenience. We do recommend hiring a car here to make the most of your stay, whether it's exploring Montpellier or the village of Montferrier-sur-Lez, or spending a day at the beach.

On arrival, you’ll be impressed by the vaulted stone ceiling in the entranceway – and this is just the start. Up a narrow spiral staircase, you’ll find a cosy sitting room with a library among other attractive rooms equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Best of all, this townhouse has its own private heated pool for you to swim in. There’s also a roof terrace that’s ideal for sunset cocktails.

You'll be blown away by the quaint, idyllic scenes found both inside and outside of this home. We particularly love the enormous, curved Orangerie style backdoor which paves the way to the magical garden setting featuring a shaded alfresco dining area, day beds and a crystal clear pool – divine for a refreshing dip during the height of summer in the south of France. Back inside, the stunning open-plan kitchen-living area ensures a sociable stay for the whole group to enjoy together. The kitchen in particular will excite guests who are fond of cooking as the large central island makes it perfect for group cooking sessions. Why not book for a private chef to come and give you French cooking lessons? You'll also find that the local area allows guests to experience French culture at its finest. Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

If you're looking for a French villa with true character, Here Comes The Sun is a great option. With typical rustic features that include exposed brick and beam contrasting the modern features, this home is a great place to help you relax and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. Wake up with a nice cup of coffee on the balcony, then pick up your local delivery of baked goods that can be brought right to your front door, then set up a little breakfast for the rest. If you're feeling rather adventurous, hike all the way to Pont du Gard or take the car if you want see as much as you can in a single day. When you're back, go for a relaxing swim in the pool and enjoy a nice glass of locally produced wine, then maybe visit the nearby town of Uzès and explore the local restaurants. The wider area is filled with stunning gold courses and plenty of activities, but there's absolutely no rule that says you can't just stay in your superbly cosy holiday residence and curl up with a good book.

Tucked away in the ancient heart of Montpellier, this sophisticated home blends its period features with modern styling. Set in among the warren of narrow streets, close to the opera, the cathedral and museums, it's a surprisingly quiet retreat. Here you'll climb the stairs to your apartment, set within a traditional building dating from the 1700s. The sociable space is painted all-white, with a smart wood floor and a pretty well-equipped kitchen. This lovely home can be found in Gruissan, a picturesque town in the south of France. If you’re hoping for white sand beaches and beautiful scenery, this is an excellent choice of location. Best of all, it’s home to this stylish abode. 

This home ticks every box when it comes to fuss-free holiday homes. It’s small but perfectly formed, with a cosy living room that’s the heart of the home. Children will love sleeping on the mezzanine level, where they can have their own space while still being close to the grown-ups. 

The outside space here is sure to win over everyone, though. You’ll have access to the shared swimming pool, which is a dream to dive into on hot, sunny days. You can sunbathe alongside the pool, dipping a toe in every now and then, or choose to soak up the sun on one of two terraces.
