Travel south in France until you’ve nearly reached the border to Spain and that’s where you’ll find this little home located in the coastal commune of Anglet. With a reputation for Atlantic surfing beaches – there are eleven to be exact – this is where you want to retreat to for a properly beachy holiday. The home echoes its location with hues of white and blue, and a particular crispness that’s definitely helped along by yawning balcony doors and the breeze entering through it. 

The kitchen is great for prepping cheese platters, or a quick omelette, but we recommend venturing out to one of the cafes for a breakfast before hitting the beach. For a different kind of adventure, you might also find yourself on a hiking path, playing a round of golf, or kicking back as you wait for fish to bite when you’re out fishing. 

Although there is a casino and a number of night clubs for evening entertainment, we do recommend catching the sunset from the cosy balcony first.

The open kitchen is equipped with all necessary appliances, including an oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, electric coffee machine (capsules not included), and washing machine. Guests have access to free WiFi and reserved parking (extra fee). Please note that smoking is prohibited in the apartment and a smoke alarm is installed.

Better known for its Atlantic rollers and camping sites, this stretch of the French coast is all about laid-back summer living. On the outskirts of Bidart, this home epitomises that with its clean lines and minimalist style. Using white walls, yellow sofas, and geometric light fittings, the apartment feels modern and new. Chill out on one of the Eames rocking chairs, soak up some rays on the deckchairs or watch what's cooking in the kitchen from the breakfast bar. A small balcony looks out over hills and other homes and is our favourite spot for assessing the conditions for the day's adventures. If surfing is on the cards, it's less than a 10-minute drive to Bidart beach, while Biarritz and its glamorous facade is just 15. Not in the mood for that much activity? We suggest padding down to the communal pool for lengths, before heading back to the terrace for a glass of something icy.

A four-minute walk sees you at the Grande Plage, the town’s horseshoe of golden sand lined with loungers and a calm spot for swimming. Closer to home, the classic indoor market of Les Halles de Saint-Jean-de-Luz is less than a minute from the apartment, where you can stock up on fresh, local produce to take back to the full kitchen. It's spacious, with plenty of room for ten guests to make the most of their stay in this charming area. The interior is simple yet stylish, with a huge fireplace, traditional wooden beams and tiled floors creating a welcoming atmosphere where you can really relax. There's a piano, should you feel like serenading your loved-ones, and a comfortable selection of seating in zesty tangerine and lemon tones. Budding chefs will love picking up some fresh produce from the local market, before heading to the kitchen or the outdoor grill to create some delicious dishes. The private garden has a grassy lawn along with an outdoor entertaining space, where the group can gather for alfresco feasts. Take a stroll down to the Central Beach of Labenne, or hop on your bike to arrive on the sand in just ten minutes. Nature lovers can explore Marais d'Orx National Nature Reserve, while those that prefer a more glamorous day trip can take a thirty-minute car-ride to Biarritz.

And, the Réserve Naturelle Nationale du Marais d'Orx is a wonderful place for a walk through the wetlands – it's just ten minutes away by car.

In this surfer's paradise, their tastes are well-catered for – you're far more likely to grab something healthy than anything with chips in the nearby eateries. We think the home is better suited to a family or firm friends, given any nighttime trips to the bathroom involve using the only bedroom's ensuite. And with free parking available, you're not only confined to the local beaches – drive to the forest at Landes, or the nearby city of Bordeaux.
