Crooklets beach, the nearest golf course and the town centre are all within a ten-minute walk, making this home a great base for exploring. While the interior is on the smaller side, it's plenty comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped for family meals. Kids can claim one of the two reception rooms as their own, and every bedroom has its own en-suite so there’ll be no queue for the shower. You can even rinse off in the outdoor shower after trips to Summerleaze Beach – it’s only a five-minute walk away, as is the centre of Bude. The location and delightful suntrap garden make this a great choice for summer getaways – and your four-legged friends can come too.

This holiday home just south of Bude is a great spot to spend some quality time with the whole family. It’s only a short walk to the beach, where you can take surf lessons or go for a hike with your four-legged friend along the Atlantic coast. The house has got three ensuite bedrooms and a large family bathroom, but it’s the garden with the sea view that we like best. There are a small local shop and pub nearby and the town of Bude is but a short drive away.

Throw in the super-king sized bed, a brand new bathroom (with bathtub) and kitchen, its location (snuggled away in ancient woodland), the fact that it’s just a five-minute drive to the nearest pub and beach at Crackington Haven, and you’ve got a rural retreat you’ll want to keep quiet about, so you can keep it for yourself.

Part of an old farmhouse that's been braving the Cornish weather for over seven hundred years. Sitting outside in the morning sun of the east-facing courtyard makes you appreciate the old rugged stone façade, especially compared to the sleek and cosy interior. You'll get a whole wing to yourself, complete with two dining spots outdoors and comfortable loungers in the garden. In the colder months, you'll be spending more time in the sitting room, surrounded by books and a large flat-screen TV with Technics cinema sound for an immersive experience. From here, the French doors open up to a cosy spot for two where you can admire the sunrise and plan your day. The nearest wild beach is well within walking distance, but the headline attraction is up the road in Bude. If you're up for some sightseeing, take the car down to Tintagel to see the ruins of King Arthur's mythical castle.

If you’re searching for a Cornish coastal holiday, it’s time to stop scrolling. You’ll find this homely bungalow nestled in the village of Higher Crackington and as the glimpses of sea view suggest, you’re not far away from the coast here. There’s a modern, well-equipped kitchen if your nominated cook fancies testing out their culinary skills, but if not, head the short distance to Crackington Haven where you’ll find a beach, bistro cafe and family pub serving delicious dishes using locally sourced produce.

This is one for the ramblers and the folk that love the great outdoors. The former barn has been turned into a country bolthole in the rolling landscape of Cornwall. Lace up your hiking boots and hit the South West Coastal Trail at Crackington Haven, a twelve-minute drive away. This stretch of coastline is home to secret sandy bays and stunning sea views from the tops of cliffs. 

From the windows inside, you’ve got a view of the verdant green fields and tumbling hills that make up this peaceful area. The old walls of the barn are on display in patches of exposed stonework amidst the otherwise pristine white walls. In the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room, the L-shaped sofa creates a snuggly nook for cosy evenings in. Should the weather stay fine, there’s a flower-filled private garden with a barbecue and patio dining to make the most of the Cornish sun.

The cabin is tucked away in a lush garden in a romantic setting that will make you instantly forget any of the worries of day-to-day life. It’s a studio-style cabin with one wall entirely made of glass, blending the interior and exterior. A skylight above the bed means you’ll go to sleep each night staring straight up at the stars. 

The cabin is based just outside of Launceston in Cornwall, close to the border of Devon. It’s brilliantly located for outdoorsy adventures, whether you’re keen on surfing or prefer to explore the countryside on foot. Dartmoor National Park is twenty-seven minutes away by car, with its wealth of wonderful hikes and cycling trails. You might take a day-trip to St Isaac to paddle in the sea and eat fish and chips and ice cream at the shore – it takes forty-three minutes to drive there, and it’s well worth the trip. 

After a day of exploring Cornwall and its gems, you can look forward to sipping wine on the terrace. Perhaps you’ll cook dinner on the barbecue before enjoying a relaxing bubble bath in the beautiful copper tub. Or to take the romance to the next level, you might soak in the hot tub under the stars. It’s impossible to leave here feeling stressed out.

Step into this achingly romantic wooden hut in St Kew, Cornwall, for a whirlwind getaway unlike any other. Decorated in an eclectic, bohemian style, you’ll want to fire up the stove and sink right into a pile of embroidered cushions with a mug of hot chocolate. You’ll also have your own private deck on which to drink tea with scones or enjoy hot Cornish pasties from the local bakery. The mezzanine bedroom area was made for sleeping to the sound of rain falling on the roof – just hope that it clears up quickly in the morning – or listening out for the call of a barn owl passing by. And the north Cornwall coast, with some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, is just a ten-minute drive away. Spend a day at charming Port Isaac, or hop on your bike to take on the Camel Trail – and don't forget to stop in at the country pub across the lane on your way home. 

A New Belonging

Fancy a romantic getaway with a twist? This upside-down home places a firelit living area above the bedroom, where the en-suite bathtub enjoys a framed view of the creek. Upstairs, we think the waterside terrace might inspire a paddle to Salcombe – made easy by the three-seater kayak your host provides. It's worth noting that there is a bit of a hike to the front door here (thirty-six steps, to be precise), so this home won't be the best option for everyone.

Families should note that child-friendly amenities aren’t available here and that little ones will need to be supervised in the communal garden. Still, it’s a fantastic location with easy access to East Portlemouth's beaches, as well as hiking trails through the surrounding countryside – not to mention private parking for adventures further afield.

Over in the first of two living rooms, butter-soft sofas placed beside the fire are more than inviting. As is the Gatsby-esque 1920's mini bar in the grown-up feel sitting room next door – playfully known as the Cocktail Room by the owners. And the shaker-style kitchen makes cooking and entertaining a joy – especially with it's handy opening out to the sitting room so that you can keep an eye on the rest of your troops.

When it's time for some coastal adventures, take a stroll down the hill towards Dartmouth's historic maritime centre (five-minute walk – a little longer when you're coming back up!), stopping at its smart shops, galleries, and boutique bistros along the way. Or for a dose of traditional seaside nostalgia, grab your nets and buckets for crabbing on the embankment before fish and chips down at the harbour's quayside – the views of the bobbing boats are delightful. And when the beach finally calls, hop in the car and you'll be on the glorious sheltered bay of Blackpool Sands in five minutes flat.

Just over a mile from the village of Stithians, down by the River Kennall, this stone cottage is set in the 7-acre land surrounding an old farmhouse. But despite its incredibly rural setting, staying here is far from the rustic experience you might expect. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Upon arrival, your host will warmly welcome you with a hamper full of luxury Cornish fare and home-baked goods to start your holiday right. While you nibble and sip, you can start exploring the cosy home.
