The hardest choice at this cosy home is deciding whether to stay and enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean from the attic room or to head out to explore the glorious Cornish coastline that sits mere metres away. As you can probably guess by now, this address is ideal for relaxation and the neutral decor throughout reflects that. However, there are enough quirky design touches to stop it from feeling too bland — we like the driftwood-style artwork and coffee table especially. 

When the desire to get closer to the sea gets too much, five minutes' walk will get you to Porthleven Harbour, where you’ll find plenty of arts and crafts shops, cafes, restaurants and galleries. Two minutes in the other direction will see you reach the beach and the cliffs behind.

The Helford River is Cornwall’s best-kept secret. The stunning scenery even inspired the author Daphne du Maurier to write her novel Frenchman’s Creek. There’s plenty to be explored in this area, from the tropical gardens of Trebah to the creeks and ocean; we’d recommend making the adventure by boat and luckily this cottage comes with its own all-tide mooring. This charming stone cottage offers delightful views of the river, quietly tucked away in a lush paradise but still close to the excellent Shipwrights Arms and ferry point. As much as we adore the lovely kitchen, our favourite spot has to be the rustic courtyard. As far as locations go, this home is close to everything – it's only a ten-minute walk to Gyllyngvase Beach and five minutes to the restaurants, shops and pubs along the waterfront. While there's private parking on-site, you won't need the car for much. Don your comfiest shoes and set off on foot instead, exploring Falmouth's coastal walks, art galleries and cafes with ease.
