A short walk from the pretty harbour, this home couldn't be more typical of Mousehole if it tried. Once declared 'the loveliest village in England' by Dylan Thomas, 'Mowzul' is an ever-popular place to visit with narrow streets lined with historic cottages. Set over three floors, this former fisherman's loft is Grade II listed and has just the right balance of character features and modern, coastal-inspired styling. On the ground floor, a modern, eat-in kitchen provides everything you'll need for cooking at home, while the comfortable living room upstairs has the home's main entrance, an electric fire and a charming window seat. The top floor bedrooms are pretty special and we particularly love the vaulted ceilings and clever internal porthole windows. From the master bedroom, you can even see across to St Clement's Isle and beyond – what could be better? Stroll to the nearby, shops, cafes and restaurants or drive to Lamorna Cove (ten minutes) or Penzance (fifteen minutes).

Stargazy Pie

In a tightly contested field, St Ives is one of the most idyllic coastal towns in all of Cornwall, a fact that you'll come to appreciate when gazing out the bay window in the living room of this home. From the comfort of a cosy chair, you can gaze out across the glistening bay and beaches in the distance.

Swivel around in your seat and you'll find a home that keeps it reassuringly safe and simple with the design, with white walls, wooden floors and the odd piece of nautically themed artwork making for a space that's instantly calming. The glossy kitchen is clearly influenced by the trend for all things minimalist, while the boxy bathtubs upstairs share similar traits – and offer a lovely way to finish the day.

When it comes to seeing the best of the locale, you're in an excellent position to do so. Porthmeor Beach is only a seven-minute walk away and the Tate art gallery sits close by, too. Even closer to home – three minutes on foot, to be precise – you can get a primer on the work and life of Barbara Hepworth at the museum and sculpture garden dedicated to her art.

Upstairs, the luxurious master bedroom boasts atmospheric views across Porthmeor Beach. And with cotton linen bedding, you’ll find yourself transported to a restorative state of bliss.

Outside, the sun-dappled terrace invites you to enjoy drinks whilst savouring the magic of coastal living. From here, it’s just a short refreshing stroll to the cafes, shops and award-winning restaurants of St Ives. Our highlights include wandering through the Tate Gallery, walking barefoot on the beach and watching the sunset with locals in the harbour. 

The Seadrift

With stunning sea views and a series of grand bedrooms, this Grade II listed 17th-century home is perfect for large families or groups of friends who are looking for a relaxing coastal retreat. Children and parents alike will enjoy the walled garden and homely interior, tastefully furnished to create a down-to-earth yet premium ambience.

The village setting is quintessentially Cornish, with the beach just five minutes down the road and lovely local pubs and cafes within easy reach (your closest is right around the corner). For travels further afield, guests can explore English heritage sites and well-preserved National Trust houses and gardens – we'd recommend bringing a car to easily tick the off the list. The local coastline provides excellent surf and beautiful hiking trails, adored by local lovers of the outdoors. 

Ye Olde Church House

Occupying a stunning position overlooking Mount’s Bay and St Michael’s Mount, this charming ‘upside down’ cottage offers a scenic and comfortable base to call home while exploring the beaches dotted around Cornwall’s shimmering coastline.
 
Beautifully styled, the upstairs living area stands out with its tall vaulted ceilings and stunning picture window giving way to breathtaking sea and Mount views. Kick back on the sofa with a glass of wine while gazing out onto the incredible vistas stretching out in front of you or gather around the dining table for a scenic meal cooked up in the sleek kitchen when you’re not out sampling the local restaurant scene. Downstairs, the snug bedroom offers yet more gorgeous sea views and a comfy bed promising a peaceful night’s sleep. 
 
When it comes to sightseeing and exploring nearby, make a beeline for Marazion Beach – a twelve-minute walk away – or head to St Michael's Mount which you can access on foot in twenty-three minutes by waiting for the tide to go out and walking across its causeway, or by taking a boat from Chapel Rock, fifteen minutes away on foot. You’ve got a bevvy of other beautiful beaches within easy reach too, including Perranuthnoe Beach (a five-minute drive), as well as dog-friendly ones too at Long Rock (a six-minute drive). Elsewhere, the charming village of Mousehole is a twenty-minute drive and Penzance is reachable by car in ten. 

Sea Shimmer

Positioned just above Praa Sands on Cornwall's south coastline, this home can't be accused of not making the most of this sensational location. The living area has a huge sliding door and the master bedroom an equally large window, and both gaze out towards an unblemished panorama of sea and skyline. There's even a terrace and a small garden so you can feel a breeze on your face while you take in the scenery. Back inside, the home is contemporary with a distinct boho edge thanks to the macrame, house plants, natural fabrics and soothing neutral colour scheme. In one corner, there's a wood burner, which can warm you up after a day of surfing and frolicking about on the beach. The South West Coast runs by the address and continues in either direction for plenty more stunning landscape, while Penzance only takes seventeen minutes to reach in the car if you want a day of galleries and restaurants.

Cornish Nightingale

Moments from the bustle of downtown Penzance and set conveniently above an award-winning local fish and chip shop, welcome to this light-filled, breezy getaway with sea views visible at every turn. The apartment has been set up with your needs in mind, and while you won't find the personal possessions and framed family portraits of a lived-in home, it wins top marks for classic English seaside vibes. You have endless coastal walks to choose from, and surfers will be in their element, plus you have excellent seafood dining options nearby. Back at home, the sofa can accommodate the whole team, and low-key luxury and barefoot relaxation are the order of the day, while meals outside allow you to take in the local atmosphere as you people-watch over the promenade. If you'd like to explore further afield, head east to Perranuthnoe Beach, Praa Sands and Porthleven Beach, or south-west to Pedn Vounder Beach and the stunning Minack Theatre – all within a twenty-five-minute drive of your home.

Atlantic Whispers

Just metres away from the waterfront of Porthleven's main harbour, soak up sea views from your front door when staying at this surfer's hideaway. Finished with modern home comforts and fun pops of yellow and blue through its furnishings – the space offers a serene spot to kick back between fun-filled days on the beach. 

And with plenty of natural daylight flowing through the living area floor-to-ceiling window, it's quite likely that you'll wake up here feeling refreshed and revitalised after just one night. So soak up the fresh sea air on the front patio with a coffee in hand, before heading down to the harbour or for a morning stroll around the town. 

The charming fishing village of Porthleven is bursting with coastal charm, scenic views and delicious seafood restaurants. Walk down to Porthleven beach's sandy shores to catch some surf, picnic in the sun and build sand castles until your heart's content.

Wonder of the Sea 

The tiny hamlet of Crowlas is home to this rustic stone cottage, located less than a five-minute walk from the village centre. Stepping foot inside this former hay barn, the interiors might surprise you. While the furnishings and the kitchen are wonderfully modern, the wooden stairs and the wood burning stove are gorgeous, rustic features which make the space feel warm and homely. After a windswept day at the beach, coming home will feel like bliss when you can curl up by the fire with a cup of tea. And the flames continue outside. With a fire pit and a barbecue, the kids can roast marshmallows while someone else handles the burgers on the grill. This garden is a stunning spot where you can let the little ones run around – and you can lie back in the sun loungers to enjoy the serenity of the countryside. For a day out of your sanctuary, hop in the car and head through the village to pick up picnic supplies. As the crow flies, you’re under two miles from the rugged coasts of Cornwall. However, we recommend checking out the fishing village of Padstow, about an hour away. Or St Ives is only a fifteen-minute drive from home, where you can visit high-end restaurants and visit the Tate Gallery.

Fireside Frolics

Cornwall is known for its laid-back vibe, and this home gives off just that. With neutral tones running through the home, traditional wooden beams, a cosy fireplace, and a flourishing garden, it's the perfect Cornish getaway. We love the nods to Cornish coastal roots, with oars on the walls adding a beachy feel to the home. It's twee and charming while being stylish and contemporary. 

Soak up gorgeous mornings in your lush garden, which spreads across two levels. Enjoy your morning coffee while catching up on your book, before getting ready to take on the day. You could easily spend your days lounging around this home, but the Cornish west coast is too beautiful to miss. The seaside town of Marazion is just a ten-minute walk away and upon reaching its beach, you'll be doing a double-take as to whether you're really still in the UK. With glistening clear blue seas and white sand beaches, spending the day here is easily done. And for the full experience, we highly recommend a classic Cornish pasty or fish and chips on the beach for a satisfying lunch. 

Return home and wash off the sand in your outdoor shower before enjoying a few drinks in the garden. The barbecue is ready to go to cook up a feast, or you could enjoy a homecooked dinner around the dining table inside if the weather starts to chill. There's nothing more homely than gathering around with family and friends in a Cornish cottage, while the traditional fireplace warms you up from the inside out.
