Tucked away in the charming streets of Padstow, this laid-back cottage blends a youthful personality with rustic roots. That's why wooden beams, flagstone floors and crates repurposed as tables rub shoulders with industrial-chic lighting, comfy furnishings in bold colours and dazzlingly white bathrooms complete with rainfall showers. 

After a long day by the seaside, put your feet up in front of the log burner with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. We also liked the large blue kitchen, where you can cook up a storm when you're feeling peckish – the pendant lights hanging above the island are actually made from old kilner jars – as well as the bedrooms with their antique French beds, which will add a sense of occasion to your nightly routine. 

Although the local neighbourhood feels residential, the town's lively harbour and the surrounding cafes, gourmet restaurants and seaside pubs can be reached in under five minutes on foot. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in North Cornwall either, with St George’s Cove a twenty-minute trek along the South West Coast Path and Hawker's Cove an eleven-minute drive away. All in all, it's a great place to call home on your Cornish getaway.

The house is just a seven-minute walk from the centre of Padstow and its pretty, characterful harbour. Perhaps you’ll stroll into town first thing for breakfast in one of the many cafes and restaurants, before making your way to the beach. Lower Beach is our favourite, and it’s just an eighteen-minute walk from the house. Take along your bucket and spade and make memories in this most picturesque part of the UK. 

When you make your way back to the house, sun-kissed and sandy, fire up the barbecue. Spend your evening in the garden, admiring the views of the Camel Estuary and watching the sun slowly set. The garden is the jewel in the crown of this lovely home, with comfortable seating and bi-folding doors than can be opened wide to give the living space a holiday feel.

A big family home in the ever-popular town of Padstow, this place has plenty of wow factors – from rare private parking to stunning views across the River Camel estuary. Set on a slope, its three floors make the most of its position with views getting better and better at the top of the house. Inside, it's a tasteful blend of period features and contemporary styling, with a subtle nod towards its coastal location in its palette of whites, greys and blues. The Edwardian home has been thoroughly updated to provide a perfect spot for a large family getaway. There are two living rooms to choose from (one for the youngsters to hang out in, perhaps?) and a big kitchen diner with an Aga and everything you'll need to cook on night's in. We particularly love the big bedroom on the top floor, with its panoramic estuary views all the way across to Rock, and the semi-covered patio at the back where you can barbecue on sunny afternoons. The garden goes up in steps from the house, finally reaching a raised deck with a dining table and chairs – the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and that famous view. Just minutes away on foot, Padstow's beautiful harbour and legendary dining scene offer all sorts of options, and it's just a short hike along the coast to the nearest beach. Or catch the foot ferry and paddle in the clear waters at Rock.

There's a refreshing simplicity to the design, with no risks taken with the white walls, smart wooden floors and mid-century-inspired furnishings. However, it all feels contemporary enough and is a suitably relaxing space to return to after outdoor expeditions. The dining room next to the glass door has a bright and airy ambience, but if the weather's on your side, you can opt instead to gather together in the hydrangea-filled garden.

When you want to see a little more of the locale, Padstow Harbour is only a quarter of an hour's walk away and there's a wide choice of seafood restaurants to be discovered nearby, too. This being Cornwall, you can rest assured that there are some beautiful beaches close by, too – Trevone Bay is just over five minutes' drive away, for instance.

Padstow is one of Cornwall's most famous towns, and this home is in the perfect position for exploring it. A five-minute walk away from the harbour, the home is the right size for a family or small group of friends planning to decamp to this sought-after postcode. In warmer months, the house's two terraces have got 'alfresco drinks' written all over them – indulge in some people-watching from the front patio, or soak up the rays in the south-facing back garden. The fenced-in garden also has a barbecue for cooking up a feast, though the kitchen has plenty of equipment if the weather isn't playing ball. Wooden floorboards and old fireplaces hint at the home's history, with cosy touches such as deep sofas and throws in the lounge for keeping warm come the evening. You could spend days admiring the boats floating in the harbour and eating freshly-caught seafood in the local restaurants, and there are also plenty of coastal walks and sandy beaches to explore close by. Camel Claw, positioned near the top of a hilly residential road, is a short walk down to the harbour, from where you can embark on fishing trips or hire a bike to cycle the Camel Trail down to the neighbouring town of Wadebridge. Then there's the National Lobster Hatchery, an award-winning centre dedicated to lobster conservation and research. Further afield, the Eden Project is a forty-minute drive away and an essential day out. Whatever you do, come home to this colourful cottage - and relax.

In the popular foodie town of Padstow, this terraced home is a 10 minutes’ walk away from the harbour and a 5 minutes’ walk from the popular hiking trails Saint’s Way and Camel Trail. Families will have plenty to entertain them – the lounge comes stocked with board games, books and Blu-ray DVDs as well as a DAB radio and Bluetooth sound system. Dinner is made easy by the electric oven and gas hob in the kitchen, though you’ll also want to check out the town’s famous seafood restaurants. On summer evenings when the light lasts until late, unwind on the terrace with a bottle of sparkling wine.

Glorious sandy beaches surround this town, and it's known for fishing and the high-end restaurants of celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth too.

Back at this home, whip up a Cornish cream tea in the modern kitchen with its metro tiles and breakfast bar and enjoy it at one of two outdoor tables (at the front or back) – our favourite is the front garden with its lawn and drystone wall. This lovely cottage is the perfect retreat for two.

After a day on the water, sailing or waterskiing, return to the cosy cottage to doze in front of the wood-burning stove. Though there are plenty of wonderful restaurants, you can also make use of the fully equipped kitchen and dine alfresco on the cobblestone patio.

It doesn’t get much more Cornish-fishing-village-vibe than this pastel blue cottage in Padstow. It’s just 100 metres from Padstow Harbour, where you can watch the catch of the day hauled in and delivered to the string of seafood restaurants and cafés along the seafront. If catching the sea air is your thing, you can join the South West Coastal Path from here, or head out to secluded bays and sandy beaches by car. Inside the cottage, you’ll find a breezy, open living area with bright white walls and lightwood floor. The old fireplace is now a sleek, minimalist feature in the living room, and the kitchen is spacious enough to handle the bustle of family breakfast time. The first thing to mention with this home has to be the marvellous location. Not only is it in the middle of one of Cornwall's prettiest villages, but it also has a superb view of the River Camel from the front garden. Here, it's possible to sit at the table eating a dinner fresh off the barbecue and watch the boats bobbing about in the water.

It seems that the interior designer was all too aware of this stunning scenery, as many of the windows have had their ledges converted into seating so you can take a perch with a book. All throughout, the decor is heavy on soothing neutrals and nautical-themed artwork, while the sleek white kitchen is contemporarily styled. The presence of a log burner is also sure to be appreciated after a day of swimming in the sea.

Rock Beach sits just below the home, with Daymer Bay Beach a thirty minute coastal walk from here, and Polzeath a further thirty minutes also. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants close to the home, as well as a sailing club. If you want to explore more of Cornwall, the passenger ferry to Padstow leaves from Rock just a few minutes walk from the home.

This is the sort of holiday home in which cherished memories are made. Located just ten minutes' walk from both Polzeath Beach and Daymer Bay Beach, there are plenty of ways to enjoy bursts of sunny weather in the local area, or without leaving the home at all. Out in the garden, for instance, there's an enclosed lawn complete with an alfresco table and a charcoal barbecue.

If the sun disappears behind the clouds at any point, you can take a seat in the conservatory and wait for it to reappear or — if the temperature really dips — play some board games in front of the log burner fire in the living room. Alternatively, the pastel blue kitchen and island is ready and waiting for when you want to cook up a feast.

Aside from the seaside, the South West Coast Path can be joined in twenty-five minutes' walk and Bodmin Moor sits half an hour's drive away. It's also a thirty minute walk along the beach to boating, shops and eateries in Rock and the ferry to Padstow. There's a renowned gastropub three minutes' walk down the road, and the 4-star St Moritz Hotel and Spa is around the corner should you fancy a spot of pampering.

Found in the quaint Cornish village of Trevone, this home is the key to unlocking the stretch of coast between the more popular options of Newquay and Polzeath. Start off at Trevone Bay and work your way towards Harlyn Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay and Pentire Steps Beach without driving more than twenty minutes out. Be sure to stop off at the beautiful Trevose Head Lighthouse along the way. 

Reflecting the beauty of its coastal surroundings, the inside of the home has a calm sense about it. Soft blues, crisp whites and wooden elements make the vibrant colours of the dining set pop, adding a quirky touch to an otherwise sophisticated space. Sit around the table to eat or take your meals outside for an alfresco experience around the picnic-style bench.

The mezzanine bedroom area was made for sleeping to the sound of rain falling on the roof – just hope that it clears up quickly in the morning – or listening out for the call of a barn owl passing by. And the north Cornwall coast, with some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, is just a ten-minute drive away. Spend a day at charming Port Isaac, or hop on your bike to take on the Camel Trail – and don't forget to stop in at the country pub across the lane on your way home.

The calming sea breeze fills this sun-trapped garden, which is perfectly sized for a kick about or game of rounders. Inside, we love the blend of rustic charm that works seamlessly with modern touches. Plush sofas, pops of colour, and contemporary artwork lives harmoniously next to a wood burner, driftwood floors, and a large country table. It’s a wonderful, cheery place for friends and families to gather and catch up. However, if the sun’s shining in Cornwall, there’s only one place you want to be. Trevone beach is particularly handy, as it’s a mere two-minute walk away! The sandy beach is tucked into a bay, where you’ll see sandcastles and buckets and spades aplenty. It’s also a great place to go surfing, whether you’re a beginner or advanced. If you want a longer stretch of sand to let the dog run free, St George's Cove is just beautiful and only an eight-minute drive away.

The village of Trevone itself has a thriving community, who loves to welcome visitors. During summer, there are plenty of Fetes and activities to get involved in. You can reach the village in under ten minutes by foot, where you’ll find a cosy pub, farm shops, and cafes. Cornish living at its finest. 

A stay here isn’t complete without visiting the quaint fishing town of Padstow. Surrounded by glorious sandy beaches, simply strolling these charming streets and tucking into some fish and chips is a great way to spend the day. Or, there are plenty of boats to take you out to spot marine life around the harbour or just whizz you away on a speedboat. If you want to see more of Cornwall, a regular ferry takes visitors over to Rock, where you can stroll around Polzeath and Daymer Bay. You could also rent bikes from the harbour and head out further inland. After all that exploring, you’re bound to be hungry. If you’re a foodie, you’re in luck. Padstow is home to some of Cornwall’s best and most loved restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant and Paul Ainsworth’s No 6.

Enjoy long walks on the South West Coast Path – the cliff tops at Park Head offer incredible views across to the sea stacks at Bedruthan Steps (a ten-minute ride away). Back at this wonderful barn – it's perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for a tranquil retreat. Inside, we were blown away by the rustic charm mixed with elegant modernism. We love the Delabole slate bathrooms, exposed stone walls and vaulted beams throughout this home. In fact, this place has been designed with socialising and entertaining in mind – it's a great space to spend quality time together. On chillier days, curl up in front of the cosy wood-burning stoves in the living room or den and settle in for an evening of board games with the family. There are four acres of grounds to explore here, including orchards and wildflower meadows. There's even an outdoor shower, so you can rinse off after visiting the beach – your lovely hosts have really thought of everything here.  Our favourite spot in the garden has to be the magical summerhouse – savour the spectacular views that stretch to the Atlantic Ocean or recline on the day bed and read a book. It's just one of the many fantastic features that make this home so very special.

This St Merryn home isn't far from the coast – just a five-minute drive, in fact – and there are hints to the seaside everywhere you look, from the beach hut blinds in the twin room to the pictures on the walls. The scent of lavender wafts in through the double doors on warm evenings, while the side patio is perfect for alfresco feasts as the afternoons draw to a close. Don't fancy cooking? Not a problem. You're never far from a great pub, with several to choose from in the village itself – including Rick Stein's The Cornish Arms – and an excellent bakery to boot. There are so many beaches nearby, you can sprawl out on a different one each day (the closest is Harlyn Bay Beach), but for a change of scenery, charming Padstow is just a ten-minute drive away.

You won’t quite have sole use of Constantine Bay, one of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches, but there is a path that leads directly from this home to the golden sands and it’s less than a ten-minute walk. 

The spacious, modern house is perfect for large family holidays, with six bedrooms and a wealth of games to keep the kids from squabbling on rainy days. Challenge your guests to a game of table tennis, or get cosy in the living room as you admire the countryside views. When the sun is shining, you can mix a G&T and head outside to the balcony for a better look, while the kids run wild on the grassy lawn. And, when it's time to eat, the whole group can gather for an alfresco feast freshly cooked on the barbeque. 

If you fancy a change from Constantine Bay, you can wander down to Treyarnon Bay in just fifteen minutes, or hop in the car to drive to Porthcothan Beach in ten minutes. Golfers will be delighted that the local course is just a seven-minute walk away, and if you're craving some adventure then there are plenty of activities to try – take your pick from hiking, surfing, and even cliff jumping.

Keeping the kids entertained has never been easier than at this holiday home on the beautiful Cornish coast. Decorated with artwork of all their favourite Disney characters, this modern three-storey house is ideal for large groups and family holidays, with plenty of space to run around. There’s a smart television and surround system in the first floor lounge, but we doubt it’ll get much use – not with the pool table, hot tub and barbecue keeping everyone occupied. What we like most though is just how close the home is to Trevone beach, with its golden sands and turquoise water visible from many of the windows. If you venture further out on foot, you’ll find plenty of walks along the spectacular North Cornwall coastline.
