Once a fisherman’s cottage, this cute Porthleven bolthole dates back to 1880. You can picture the relief on the weather-worn fisherman’s face, returning to this cosy abode with a fire crackling in the stove (it’s electric now) and stargazy pie steaming away on the farmhouse-style table in the kitchen. Your days in Porthleven don’t have to be so hard, meandering down to the harbourfront in just a few minutes where boats still land the fresh catch of the day, supplying a glut of independent restaurants. There’s a soft-sand beach here too, for days on the surfboard.

Speaking of which, if you want to hang your wetsuit out to dry and store your board, there’s a private backyard just for this. Inside, we love the exposed stone walls still on display – a nod to the home’s history. Sinking into one of the sofas is a delight after a day on a surfboard or walking the South West Coastal Path. Then there are the bedrooms with cushioned piled high on the beds – the epitome of cosiness.

The hardest choice at this cosy home is deciding whether to stay and enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean from the attic room or to head out to explore the glorious Cornish coastline that sits mere metres away. Nestled into Porthleven's famous Victorian terrace, Port View benefits from – you guessed it – breathtaking vistas across the inner and outer harbour. Relax in the garden and enjoy the fresh, sea air. Recently renovated, the space retains much of its original character, and we love the bespoke New England style shutters. Make yourself comfortable in the window seat and admire the seascape.

When you're ready to explore the area, you're just a two-minute walk from Porthleven Beach, while the local shops, and your host's favourite pub is around five minutes on foot. We highly recommend packing comfortable walking shoes because the coastal paths here are spectacular and not to be missed. Of course, there are also plenty of water-related activities available as well. Enjoy a boat tour to discover the area's wildlife,  go fishing or rent surfboards – there's plenty going on and this home sits in the very heart of the action.

Just over a mile from the village of Stithians, down by the River Kennall, this stone cottage is set in the 7-acre land surrounding an old farmhouse. But despite its incredibly rural setting, staying here is far from the rustic experience you might expect. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Upon arrival, your host will warmly welcome you with a hamper full of luxury Cornish fare and home-baked goods to start your holiday right. While you nibble and sip, you can start exploring the cosy home. Fluffy rugs, plush sofas, and wooden floors create a sense of warmth and softness in the living space, but floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in. And the great outdoors are particularly great in this case. Under the wooden decking, get ready to pop champagne and soak in the hot tub. Or perhaps you’d rather recline on the outdoor sofas by the wood-burner, have a barbecue, or play a few rounds of table tennis? As you’re just a fifteen-minute drive to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, you’ll also need to pack a picnic one day and head for the shore (don’t forget to grab the beach towels that your host kindly provides).

With sea views and serene interiors, this apartment in Marazion is ideal for a romantic coastal escape. The soothing colour scheme is as relaxing as a day at the beach, while the comfy furnishings provide plenty of spots to kick back and relax. And it doesn't lack charm, either – everywhere you look there are nods to the area's nautical roots, the star of which is the original ship window above the kitchen sink. The ocean outlook makes washing up something to look forward to, while the induction range stove will get your creative culinary juices flowing. But the real showstopper is the south-facing terrace off the bedroom. Wake up to the sight of Mount's Bay in the morning, then pull up a chair, pour yourself a glass of wine and watch the sunset each evening. When you're ready to venture out, you'll be spoilt for choice, whether you want to kitesurf and paddleboard, grab a bite to eat or sprawl out Marazion Beach (a ten-minute stroll away). And, of course, a trip to Marazion isn't complete without a visit to St Michael's Mount – when the tide is low, you can walk across the causeway to the famous castle in under twenty minutes, but you can always hop on a ferry when the tide rolls in.

Seafarers & Saints

The arched window in the living room is a little reminder that this granite cottage used to be a Methodist chapel. Set in the tiny hamlet of Rinsey, you’re surrounded by countryside on all sides, and you can join the South West Coast Path steps from your front door. 

Following the walking path along the coast, past old tin mines, for twenty minutes will take you to the sweeping beach at Praa Sands. Rinsey Cove, a secluded tidal beach, is a short stroll away. 

Elsewhere, you're just a ten-minute drive to the shops and galleries of Porthleven, where you can buy fresh seafood to cook in the fully-equipped country kitchen – best served outdoors in the private south-facing garden, which gets sunlight long into the summer nights. 

At the end of a busy day, slip off in the super-king sized bed and wake up each morning to sea views over the North Atlantic, with nothing between you and North America.
