With glorious views of St Ives, as pretty as the coastal paintings this artistic town is known for – you won't want to leave this amazing Edwardian townhouse. Situated in a private terrace, with no passing traffic, take in the turquoise ocean vistas from the beautiful, sunny terrace, surrounded by pink hydrangeas, with a glass of Cornish fizz. Or head inside, where you'll be greeted with large bay windows – admire the town, harbour and the sparkling sea from here. Our favourite spot has to be the plush velvet window seat in the bedroom. With two living areas and several outdoor spaces, this home is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to spread out. To top it all, there's parking for up to two cars, which is a rare bonus in St. Ives.

The vibrant town centre is a five-minute walk, where you'll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. It's the same walking distance to Porthminster Beach, one of St Ives's six beaches – the others are Porthgwidden, Harbour, Porthmeor, Lambeth Walk and Bamaluz – so you're spoilt for choice. For art lovers, the Barbara Hepworth Museum is a seven-minute saunter, while the Tate St Ives is eleven minutes on foot.

Back home, the outside space is the real star of the show with a comfortably furnished summerhouse filled with tasteful artwork and nautical adornments. We can think of nothing better than watching the sunset over Godrevy and beyond from here. In warmer months, take to the flower-bedded terrace for alfresco dining and ocean views or find a quiet enclosed patio for a relaxing read in the sun. Stepping inside, you'll find a well-presented interior with light wooden flooring, ornamental fireplaces and exposed brickwork. We also found there to be an industrial-chic styling around the home – from the cooper framed bed in the master bedroom to the low-hanging lampshades over the dining table. There is of course a freestanding bathtub for relaxing soaks after wandering the Cornish coast as well as an abundance of light and airy living space to sprawl out and unwind. There's a traditional country-house kitchen with all the basic appliances for cooking hearty meals, although we'd be tempted to wander into town for a spot of locally sourced and adored fish and chips.

Even though this home is only five minutes' walk from the golden sands of Cardis Bay, there's a heated swimming pool so you can take a dip without having to leave the address. Running alongside, there are loungers for catching some rays as well as a small outhouse with room for storing surfboards and beach equipment, plus a shower for washing off sand and sea salt from your skin. When the sun begins its final descent, head over to the verandah — a recent extension to the 1930s house — where a large alfresco table, barbecue and outdoor heating will see you through long summer evenings. You might have noticed that we're full of lovely words and we've not even touched upon what's inside the home yet. Rest assured, it's just as impressive as what lies outside. The original large rooms and bay windows add a sense of airy brightness, but a recent renovation has brought a contemporary interior with an especially modern kitchen. As well as the nearby seaside, the South West Coast Path lies four minutes on foot from the front door and Tate St Ives is eleven minutes away in the car.

For beautiful walks, we can highly recommend the coast path from here to St Ives, which showcases spectacular views over the bay, and the 1.9km walk has a gentle ascent meaning the whole family can enjoy the scenery and bracing sea air. Or, if that sounds like too much for you, the single-track railway of the St Erth line follows that same path along the coast offering passengers an incredible vantage point to see all of St Ives Bay and beyond.
