With glorious views of St Ives, as pretty as the coastal paintings this artistic town is known for – you won't want to leave this amazing Edwardian townhouse. Situated in a private terrace, with no passing traffic, take in the turquoise ocean vistas from the beautiful, sunny terrace, surrounded by pink hydrangeas, with a glass of Cornish fizz. Or head inside, where you'll be greeted with large bay windows – admire the town, harbour and the sparkling sea from here. Our favourite spot has to be the plush velvet window seat in the bedroom. With two living areas and several outdoor spaces, this home is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to spread out. To top it all, there's parking for up to two cars, which is a rare bonus in St. Ives.

The vibrant town centre is a five-minute walk, where you'll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. It's the same walking distance to Porthminster Beach, one of St Ives's six beaches – the others are Porthgwidden, Harbour, Porthmeor, Lambeth Walk and Bamaluz – so you're spoilt for choice. For art lovers, the Barbara Hepworth Museum is a seven-minute saunter, while the Tate St Ives is eleven minutes on foot.

As it’s a seaside town, you’ll likely spend much of your visit at the beach. Happily, you need only walk eight minutes to reach Porthminster Beach. Will you bring your bucket and spade and build sandcastles? Or do you prefer paddling in the shallows and skimming stones? 

You’ll instantly warm to the attractive apartment, which is spread over two floors so feels wonderfully spacious – you won’t be tripping up over each other’s belongings here. After a long day on the sand, you’ll be glad to soak in the bathtub with a glass of wine while dinner is sizzling in the modern kitchen. You’ll enjoy nestling up in the living space as the night darkens, and catching some sun out in the furnished courtyard. Located on a quiet street just a few minutes from Porthmeor beach (observable from the front-facing windows) and St Ives’ town centre, this home is perfect for those seeking a respite from city life. 

Head down to the beach and dip your feet into the Celtic Sea, or take a walk out to the Island (don’t worry, it’s a peninsula). Grab an ice cream or some fish and chips and take a walk along one of Britain’s most beautiful beaches, with the gulls gliding jealously overhead and the waves lapping rhythmically against the sand.

And for those who fancy a swim in the sea, the underfloor heating on the ground floor, radiators on the upper floors and heated towel rails mean you have everything you need to warm up after.

In warmer months, take to the flower-bedded terrace for alfresco dining and ocean views or find a quiet enclosed patio for a relaxing read in the sun. Stepping inside, you'll find a well-presented interior with light wooden flooring, ornamental fireplaces and exposed brickwork. We also found there to be an industrial-chic styling around the home – from the cooper framed bed in the master bedroom to the low-hanging lampshades over the dining table. There is of course a freestanding bathtub for relaxing soaks after wandering the Cornish coast as well as an abundance of light and airy living space to sprawl out and unwind. There's a traditional country-house kitchen with all the basic appliances for cooking hearty meals, although we'd be tempted to wander into town for a spot of locally sourced and adored fish and chips.

Even though this home is only five minutes' walk from the golden sands of Cardis Bay, there's a heated swimming pool so you can take a dip without having to leave the address. Running alongside, there are loungers for catching some rays as well as a small outhouse with room for storing surfboards and beach equipment, plus a shower for washing off sand and sea salt from your skin. When the sun begins its final descent, head over to the verandah — a recent extension to the 1930s house — where a large alfresco table, barbecue and outdoor heating will see you through long summer evenings. You might have noticed that we're full of lovely words and we've not even touched upon what's inside the home yet. Rest assured, it's just as impressive as what lies outside. The original large rooms and bay windows add a sense of airy brightness, but a recent renovation has brought a contemporary interior with an especially modern kitchen. As well as the nearby seaside, the South West Coast Path lies four minutes on foot from the front door and Tate St Ives is eleven minutes away in the car.

This elevated cottage offers breathtaking views of Carbis Bay, Godrevy lighthouse, and the North Cornwall coastline that will leave you speechless for days. This home has a rustic feel to it, with reclaimed local stone and natural cedar cladding that blends seamlessly. Open the panoramic windows and make your way down to the south-facing garden for a cup of coffee and fresh air while the kids play on the grass. Returning inside, you'll notice that the living room is flooded with natural light as you take a seat on the Tetrad Sofas and place your second coffee refill on the reclaimed oak coffee table. 

Carbis Bay is a charming seaside town known for its stunning stretch of white sand, turquoise waters, and sheltered conditions. Sunbathe on the beach before indulging in some local fish and chips, or if you're feeling more athletic, go kayaking. Take the twenty-nine-minute walk to St Ives Farmers Market, which is held at The Guildhall every Thursday until 2 p.m. throughout the year. If you appreciate art, visit the Barbara Hepworth Museum in St Ives before wandering through the cobbled streets of a traditional seaside town to reach the lighthouse.

Recently renovated to the highest of standards in 2021, this architectural masterpiece is a picture of solid slatted wood, glass and white stone. The home is set within a sought-after postcode, only ten minutes (on foot) from the stunning Carbis Bay Beach – it's well worth a visit here – we couldn't believe we were still in the UK with its glorious stretch of sand and turquoise waters. Back inside, the living space is as light and airy as possible with high-vaulted ceilings, crittall windows and an abundance of skylights overhead. We adored the sleek three-oven island kitchen, benefitting from navy blue cabinets, chic chandeliers, dramatic spotlighting and a sociable breakfast bar to sit down and enjoy your morning avos on toast. For beautiful walks, we can highly recommend the coast path from here to St Ives, which showcases spectacular views over the bay, and the 1.9km walk has a gentle ascent meaning the whole family can enjoy the scenery and bracing sea air. Or, if that sounds like too much for you, the single-track railway of the St Erth line follows that same path along the coast offering passengers an incredible vantage point to see all of St Ives Bay and beyond.

The fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need for preparing a hearty meal later in the day. For now, spill out into the garden for your morning constitutional and cup of fresh coffee. 

And once you're ready and raring to hit the Cornish shores, pack your seaside essentials and head to beautiful Carbis Bay for sandy beaches and shallow waters, just a five-minute drive away or twenty-seven minutes on foot. A great family beach, there's a host of activities to try from surfing to rock climbing. When you've worked up an appetite, we recommend hopping on the small train to St Ives for picturesque views and great restaurants. 

Back home, end the day with a couple of drinks in the cosy conservatory, complete with comfortable sofas, stone walls and tiled flooring. On chilly evenings, warm up by the wood-burning stove in the cosy living room, before heading upstairs for a restful night's sleep in one of the charming bedrooms.

The tiny hamlet of Crowlas is home to this rustic stone cottage, located less than a five-minute walk from the village centre. Stepping foot inside this former hay barn, the interiors might surprise you. While the furnishings and the kitchen are wonderfully modern, the wooden stairs and the wood burning stove are gorgeous, rustic features which make the space feel warm and homely. After a windswept day at the beach, coming home will feel like bliss when you can curl up by the fire with a cup of tea. And the flames continue outside. With a fire pit and a barbecue, the kids can roast marshmallows while someone else handles the burgers on the grill. This garden is a stunning spot where you can let the little ones run around – and you can lie back in the sun loungers to enjoy the serenity of the countryside. For a day out of your sanctuary, hop in the car and head through the village to pick up picnic supplies. As the crow flies, you’re under two miles from the rugged coasts of Cornwall. However, we recommend checking out the fishing village of Padstow, about an hour away. Or St Ives is only a fifteen-minute drive from home, where you can visit high-end restaurants and visit the Tate Gallery.
