The lounge is the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day – pour yourself a glass of wine, throw a log on the fire and snuggle up on the sofa for a cosy evening at home. When you're in the mood to whip up a homecooked meal, the stylish blue kitchen has everything you'll need – on warm days, take your dinner into the enclosed garden and enjoy it in the evening sun, or if you'd prefer not to cook, end the afternoon with a pint at the pub down the road. Wadebridge town centre is about a twenty-minute walk (or a five-minute drive) away and home to an array of eateries, bars, coffee shops and boutiques to pass the time in. And there's plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy, be it cycling along the Camel Trail, roaming Cornwall’s famous coast or lounging on the sand at Rock Beach, just twenty minutes by car.

Do bucket-and-spade breaks in luxury at this family-friendly, Edwardian townhouse in Wadebridge. The careful planning of the interior design to meet guests’ needs and the meticulous sourcing of furnishings and fittings took nearly a year to complete, with the subsequent renovations completing towards the end of 2022.

Upstairs, each bedroom is as beautifully styled as the next, though the main en-suite bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and balcony trumps them all.  With a suntrap garden for morning coffees and two sitting rooms to curl up in with the newspapers in winter months, what’s the big rush to leave the house? Although location-wise this home's also great – North Cornwall’s beaches are just a short drive away. Or keep things local with a mooch about Wadebridge or a dog walk along the River Camel Trail – just five minutes from your door.

And the north Cornwall coast, with some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, is just a ten-minute drive away. Spend a day at charming Port Isaac, or hop on your bike to take on the Camel Trail – and don't forget to stop in at the country pub across the lane on your way home.

The first thing to mention with this home has to be the marvellous location. Not only is it in the middle of one of Cornwall's prettiest villages, but it also has a superb view of the River Camel from the front garden. Here, it's possible to sit at the table eating a dinner fresh off the barbecue and watch the boats bobbing about in the water.

It seems that the interior designer was all too aware of this stunning scenery, as many of the windows have had their ledges converted into seating so you can take a perch with a book. All throughout, the decor is heavy on soothing neutrals and nautical-themed artwork, while the sleek white kitchen is contemporarily styled. The presence of a log burner is also sure to be appreciated after a day of swimming in the sea.

Rock Beach sits just below the home, with Daymer Bay Beach a thirty minute coastal walk from here, and Polzeath a further thirty minutes also. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants close to the home, as well as a sailing club. If you want to explore more of Cornwall, the passenger ferry to Padstow leaves from Rock just a few minutes walk from the home.

This is the sort of holiday home in which cherished memories are made. Located just ten minutes' walk from both Polzeath Beach and Daymer Bay Beach, there are plenty of ways to enjoy bursts of sunny weather in the local area, or without leaving the home at all. Out in the garden, for instance, there's an enclosed lawn complete with an alfresco table and a charcoal barbecue.

If the sun disappears behind the clouds at any point, you can take a seat in the conservatory and wait for it to reappear or — if the temperature really dips — play some board games in front of the log burner fire in the living room. Alternatively, the pastel blue kitchen and island is ready and waiting for when you want to cook up a feast.

Aside from the seaside, the South West Coast Path can be joined in twenty-five minutes' walk and Bodmin Moor sits half an hour's drive away. It's also a thirty minute walk along the beach to boating, shops and eateries in Rock and the ferry to Padstow. There's a renowned gastropub three minutes' walk down the road, and the 4-star St Moritz Hotel and Spa is around the corner should you fancy a spot of pampering.

The Longest Day

Tucked away in the charming streets of Padstow, this laid-back cottage blends a youthful personality with rustic roots. That's why wooden beams, flagstone floors and crates repurposed as tables rub shoulders with industrial-chic lighting, comfy furnishings in bold colours and dazzlingly white bathrooms complete with rainfall showers. 

After a long day by the seaside, put your feet up in front of the log burner with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. We also liked the large blue kitchen, where you can cook up a storm when you're feeling peckish – the pendant lights hanging above the island are actually made from old kilner jars – as well as the bedrooms with their antique French beds, which will add a sense of occasion to your nightly routine. 

Although the local neighbourhood feels residential, the town's lively harbour and the surrounding cafes, gourmet restaurants and seaside pubs can be reached in under five minutes on foot. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in North Cornwall either, with St George’s Cove a twenty-minute trek along the South West Coast Path and Hawker's Cove an eleven-minute drive away. All in all, it's a great place to call home on your Cornish getaway.

A big family home in the ever-popular town of Padstow, this place has plenty of wow factors – from rare private parking to stunning views across the River Camel estuary. Set on a slope, its three floors make the most of its position with views getting better and better at the top of the house. Inside, it's a tasteful blend of period features and contemporary styling, with a subtle nod towards its coastal location in its palette of whites, greys and blues. The Edwardian home has been thoroughly updated to provide a perfect spot for a large family getaway. There are two living rooms to choose from (one for the youngsters to hang out in, perhaps?) and a big kitchen diner with an Aga and everything you'll need to cook on night's in. We particularly love the big bedroom on the top floor, with its panoramic estuary views all the way across to Rock, and the semi-covered patio at the back where you can barbecue on sunny afternoons. The garden goes up in steps from the house, finally reaching a raised deck with a dining table and chairs – the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and that famous view. Just minutes away on foot, Padstow's beautiful harbour and legendary dining scene offer all sorts of options, and it's just a short hike along the coast to the nearest beach. Or catch the foot ferry and paddle in the clear waters at Rock.  

Rock Eye

Quaint Cornish living and refined elegance come together in this stunning home. It’s in a wonderful location in beautiful Padstow, and has been recently redesigned to guarantee that guests have the most luxurious stay possible – it ticks every box. 

The house is just a seven-minute walk from the centre of Padstow and its pretty, characterful harbour. Perhaps you’ll stroll into town first thing for breakfast in one of the many cafes and restaurants, before making your way to the beach. Lower Beach is our favourite, and it’s just an eighteen-minute walk from the house. Take along your bucket and spade and make memories in this most picturesque part of the UK. 

When you make your way back to the house, sun-kissed and sandy, fire up the barbecue. Spend your evening in the garden, admiring the views of the Camel Estuary and watching the sun slowly set. The garden is the jewel in the crown of this lovely home, with comfortable seating and bi-folding doors than can be opened wide to give the living space a holiday feel.

Neatly tucked away on an estate of more than a hundred acres of lush woodland and landscaped gardens, Hustyns Cabin is part of a larger resort. This means you won’t only have a lovely, private home but you can make use of the fabulous shared amenities here, including an indoor heated pool, gym, steam room and a Jacuzzi.

Spend your days exploring the area’s beautiful country walks or drive to either the southern or northern coast for a day at the beach. That’s the benefit of this home’s inland position – both coasts are easily accessible. Keen surfers may wish to visit Polzeath Beach, a mere twenty-minute drive north and boasting some of Cornwall’s best waves. After a long day at the beach, visit the famous harbour and restaurants in Padstow or just head home to sit back and relax on the terrace or in the cosy living room. With a private garden, a bedroom balcony and a private sauna, you may not want to leave.

Arriving at Slates By The Shore, you might not be expecting the good-looking cottage that awaits behind the front door. You'll be struck by its swanky style, a mix of authentic stone walls and flooring with the centrepiece of a modern spiral staircase. Put your feet to good use and explore the town of Padstow and, venturing further, take to the Camel Trail, an eighteen-mile hiking (or cycling) trail that takes you through glorious coastal scenery. Back in Padstow, speedboat rides, cobbled souvenir shops, and a good old serving of fish and chips await.

Nestled in the village of Rock, this home is an ideal choice for a coastal family getaway. Inside, the traditional style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s well-equipped and has everything you’d expect in a home-away-from-home. The outdoor space is a treat, with plenty of room for younger family members to burn off a little energy while the grown-ups light the pizza oven to prepare an alfresco feast. And with the tranquil waters of Rock beach just a short distance away, there’s plenty of fun to be had for families and water sports enthusiasts alike. 

A Nest Of Sails

Found in the quaint Cornish village of Trevone, this home is the key to unlocking the stretch of coast between the more popular options of Newquay and Polzeath. Start off at Trevone Bay and work your way towards Harlyn Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay and Pentire Steps Beach without driving more than twenty minutes out. Be sure to stop off at the beautiful Trevose Head Lighthouse along the way. 

Reflecting the beauty of its coastal surroundings, the inside of the home has a calm sense about it. Soft blues, crisp whites and wooden elements make the vibrant colours of the dining set pop, adding a quirky touch to an otherwise sophisticated space. Sit around the table to eat or take your meals outside for an alfresco experience around the picnic-style bench. 

Bookworms will delight in the little library on offer here – select whatever draws you in most and curl up on the sofa next to the wood-burning stove to read whilst nursing a freshly brewed coffee from the cafetiere. 

The conservatory makes for a great social space, so gather together after dinner to enjoy a bottle, or two, of wine before taking a soak in the tub before doing it all again the next day.

This Must Be the Padstow Place

Popular fishing town Padstow is one of North Cornwall's finest areas, where cyclists, walkers, sun seekers and lobster enthusiasts meet. Camel Claw, positioned near the top of a hilly residential road, is a short walk down to the harbour, from where you can embark on fishing trips or hire a bike to cycle the Camel Trail down to the neighbouring town of Wadebridge. Then there's the National Lobster Hatchery, an award-winning centre dedicated to lobster conservation and research. Further afield, the Eden Project is a forty-minute drive away and an essential day out. Whatever you do, come home to this colourful cottage - and relax.

Camel Claw

Padstow is one of Cornwall's most famous towns, and this home is in the perfect position for exploring it. A five-minute walk away from the harbour, the home is the right size for a family or small group of friends planning to decamp to this sought-after postcode. In warmer months, the house's two terraces have got 'alfresco drinks' written all over them – indulge in some people-watching from the front patio, or soak up the rays in the south-facing back garden. The fenced-in garden also has a barbecue for cooking up a feast, though the kitchen has plenty of equipment if the weather isn't playing ball. Wooden floorboards and old fireplaces hint at the home's history, with cosy touches such as deep sofas and throws in the lounge for keeping warm come the evening. When browsing for holiday lets, one often has to sacrifice living space for proximity to attractions. Not with this three-bed, six-person apartment in the well-known Cornish fishing town of Padstow. Just a minute’s walk from the harbour, and Rick Stein’s world famous fish and chips, it also has generous living rooms, a large patio garden and ample parking. Other highlights include a spa bath, 65” smart TV with Bluetooth speakers and modern furniture which gives the whole space a fresh, clean feel. Take a short foot ferry across to Rock for great beaches and more great seafood restaurants - or bring the catch of the day home for home-cooking.
