But it’s not a complete escape from nature either – just a minute walk from this quaint cottage, you’ll also find the sandy shores of Lyme Regis beach.

Only 50 yards from the seafront, beach, and eateries, this cottage is well-placed to discover all Lyme Regis has to offer. You're in the heart of the action here – you can wake up in the morning and be sunbathing on the beach in less than ten minutes. The cottage dates back to the 1600s, so expect lots of character inside – we're talking wooden beams, exposed stonework, and a toasty log burner in the dining room to make your dinners feel extra cosy. There's also a quaint gravel garden – it's not the biggest, but it works well for sundowners on summer evenings.

It’s a rural setting close to the coast, so you can look forward to long walks, beach trips, and visiting traditional pubs. Charmouth Beach is ten minutes away by car and is the perfect place for a paddle. Hunt for fossils and skim stones, marvelling that this little haven is in the UK. The farm is only five miles inland from the sea, tucked away in between Dorset and Devon’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – keen walkers will be in heaven. 

After a long day of hiking and paddling, it’s a real treat to watch the sun begin to set over the cow meadow. Pour a glass of wine and admire the views that stretch all the way to Somerset. Later on, sitting around the fire pit, you’ll spot bats swooping through the trees above you. House martins and swallows nest around the farm, too, and you may also spot foxes, hedgehogs, badgers and roe deer. Rare orchids and meadow flowers bloom in the pastures surrounding the home, adding a sweet aroma to the country air. 

This is a perfect sanctuary for two – you’ll never want to leave.

When you're ready to set off and explore, you'll find Bridport (6 miles away), West Bay (a twenty-minute drive) and Lyme Regis (thirty minutes by car) all within easy reach.

Located in the centre of Lyme Regis, it offers the perfect seaside retreat for families and friends alike. Surrounded by shops, bars, museums and coastal eateries, there’s something for everyone here – and the Cobb Harbour is not to be missed. And while you’re near the Cobb, take a stroll along Front beach or splash about in the sea – what’s not to love about this location?

The beach is quite literally on your doorstep at this thatched cottage in Lyme Regis. It's not often you can pad out the front door and swim in the sea in seconds, but that's exactly what's in store here. Restaurants, shops, and activities like kayaking are also nearby. Back home, sweeping sea views can be seen from nearly every room – the best viewpoint is the living area's big bay window. Some design choices are a little dated, but given the location and the scenery, we think that's a fine compromise.
