Inside, it’s cosy and charming – we loved the soft natural colour scheme and sumptuous furnishings that guarantee relaxation. Begin your mornings at the dining table with a cooked breakfast before finishing the last of a pot of tea on your private balcony. When the sun is shining, wander around the grounds – follow the Woodland Nature Trail through open fields or enjoy a moment of stillness by the lake. Should rain threaten, head to the games room for a round of table tennis. 

You’ll find your home a ten-minute drive from the surf-lashed Hive Beach. Look for fossils as you pick your way across the sand then enjoy a brisk paddle in the water. In the late afternoon, appease grumbling tummies with some proper pub grub at The Three Horseshoes in Burton Bradstock – it’s only 3.5 miles away.

Blending modern decor with many of its original Elizabethan features, this home is a celebration of comfort and style. The thick stone and flint wall running the length of this home lets you see the age of the building, alongside a timber-gabled ceiling and flagstone floor. It’s in the style of a super spacious studio, with sliding barn doors separating the bedroom from the living area. Keeping the whole space open means you can enjoy the warmth of the wood-burner in the bedroom on chilly evenings too. If it’s sunny, there’s a private patio with a barbecue to make the most of the evening light. Plenty of bridleways, cycle routes, and public footpaths are all on the home’s doorstep and the Jurassic coastline is just five miles further south. A traditional pub and a village shop are both within walking distance. For days out, we recommend Dorchester (home of Roman ruins and a thriving high street) or heading further afield to discover the Jurassic Coast.

It's a sweet blend of old and new, with a wood-burning fireplace ideal for winter nights and steep traditional stairs. The kitchen oozes country chic and has all the bits and bobs you need, though the pub next door is rather tempting. Outside, the enclosed garden makes the perfect pet-friendly spot to enjoy a tipple in the sunshine. When you're ready to set off and explore, you'll find Bridport (6 miles away), West Bay (a twenty-minute drive) and Lyme Regis (thirty minutes by car) all within easy reach.

The original details of this converted hayloft hark back to bygone times, and its farming heritage is still very much evident. But what was home to farming tools and animal feed has been cleverly converted to make what can only be described as a love nest. Step inside the larger barn structure and head up your own staircase to the front door. It's bright, with windows built into the walls at a low level, and skylights in the roof and the old timber rafters leave you in no doubt about the building’s former purpose. A cheerful rainbow of colourful kitchen tiles livens up an otherwise pristine white and wood motif and stable-style doors are pure country-chic. For sunny days, there’s a barbecue patio just outside the barn and your hosts encourage you to use their farmhouse garden, to pick apples in season or use the swingset. If you’re lucky, they’ll gift you with some freshly-grown veg straight from their raised beds. If you manage to drag yourself away from your well-deserved morning lie-ins, the local pub and village shop are just a short walk away and provide excellent food. Dorchester is only ten minutes away by car, and you'll reach the stunning beaches and coastal walks of the Jurassic Coast in around fifteen.

Perfectly positioned for exploring the nearby Jurassic Coast – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – you’ll find beaches and coastal walks within easy driving distance. The home itself is compact, but it has everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay, including a shared garden. Taller guests may find the ceiling a little low in the twin bedroom, and the stairs throughout the house are steeper than average. But if that’s not a problem, we think this this home is a great choice for a family or small group of friends wanting a convenient base while exploring the Jurassic Coast.

The Jurassic Coast is nearly on your doorstep at this cosy cottage in Charmouth. A great option for families, the open-plan living area has relaxation written all over it. It's a traditional townhome spread across three storeys, so expect steep stairs – especially the set leading up to the top-floor twin bedroom. The fireplace is ideal for chilly evenings, while the private garden is perfect for sundowners at dusk. Keen to dip your toes in the sea? Charmouth Beach is a ten-minute walk away. Or jump in the car and explore all Dorset has to offer.

Overlooking the Marine Parade, this apartment is a great option if you’re looking to experience the vibrant heart of Lyme Regis. It’s worth noting you may hear some street noise during your stay, but you will have private parking as well as access to a garden. Inside, the rooms are simple, cosy and well suited to couples and solo travellers in search of an easygoing coastal getaway.

Set on the popular Marine Parade in Lyme Regis, this home is an ideal base for a small family or group of friends. You’ll need to take care with the steps and uneven ground here, and because of the desirable location, you may hear a little noise during your stay. But, we think you’ll be too busy soaking up the fresh sea air to notice. The key thing that caught our eye here is the secret passageway to the beach – so stroll down to the sea, after which, a plethora of beachfront eateries await ready to serve up an authentic coastal dinner.
