This Southbourne home is a bit special. The beach is just a short walk away, which also means you can enjoy wonderful views here – there are 180-degree panoramas of the Isle of Wight, Sandbanks, and Swanage, which can be enjoyed from the balcony. If you’re not a fan of sandy feet, you can cool off in the private pool instead – and there’s a hot tub for relaxation. Kids will love the games room, which has an eaves room above it equipped with beanbag beds for fun sleepovers. There’s plenty of parking, which makes staying here all the more convenient.

With fabulous sea views and two balconies, this gorgeous apartment is right on Southbourne Beach (accessed via the Fisherman's Walk zig-zag path and a cliff lift, a two-minute walk away). Southbourne Town centre is a five to ten-minute saunter – here, you'll find an array of restaurants and bars, while Bournemouth is an eight-minute drive and Poole is thirty minutes by car.

When you're not on the beach basking in the sun or exploring nearby, relax on this home's balcony with a glass of wine from the complimentary bottle – the vistas over the beach are stunning. Then whip up a seafood dinner in the modern kitchen with its granite surfaces. Afterwards, take in the seascape from the comfy sofa. We just couldn't tear ourselves away from the windows.

Stylish, compact and only a fifteen-minute walk from Southbourne Beach, this studio apartment is the perfect place from which to explore England’s south coast. Incorporating a mix of modern and traditional elements, warm your toes on the underfloor heating while planning your seaside agenda at the antique writing desk. When it’s time for something to eat, the kitchenette is equipped for light bites. Should you fancy something a little heartier, catch the Wick Ferry to Christchurch and treat yourself to a slap-up feast in one of the many traditional pubs that cluster around the High Street. Spend sunny days picnicking by the nearby River Stour or take the short fifteen-minute stroll down to Southbourne Beach for paddling in Poole Bay and long walks along the endless sands. In the evening, nip across to Bournemouth, a seventeen-minute drive away, to watch a mesmerising sunset from the famous pier.

This luxurious home has starred in magazine and TV ads but there's no need to worry, there's as much substance as there is style. A home built to be lived in, it perfectly blends opulent furnishings and on-trend design with everything you might need to make for a comfortable stay. The high-end kitchen is the heart of the house, with sliding doors opening up onto an outdoor terrace – just perfect for an evening soiree. The living room has an open fire at each end, and the host has provided plenty of logs to keep you toasty during winter stays. Upstairs, the master suite is a delightful space, with a free-standing tub, powerful shower and cloud-like bed. The guest shower room doubles up as a steam room for that 'spa-at-home' feeling. But our favourite spot is the basement, playfully kitted out and complete with a comfy, oversize sofa and TV screen. Outside, there's even a small pool to dip in and out of on hot summer days. But we guess you're likely to be headed to the beach. It's just a seven-minute walk to Southbourne's, or a fifteen-minute drive to Bournemouth's main sands.

This home’s location is hard to beat, we think. The River Stour is just 100 metres away, with a public slipway from where you can launch kayaks and boats. Bournemouth’s Blue Flag beaches are a short walk away, too. That’s if you can tear yourself away from the gardens which extend to half an acre. There’s a pond, a large lawn, a barbecue and a patio area, as well as a trampoline. Inside, there are several sitting rooms (one with an open fire) and a garden room. This place is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to get the most out of Dorset. 

The River Stour

This Grade II listed home has bags of charm and a super slick and contemporary feel. In the heart of quaint Christchurch, the home has rich, inviting rooms, with modern and period features in equal measure. Everything about it feels luxurious, from the colour palette to the flawless bathrooms, complete with a freestanding bathtub and gorgeous showers to recharge in. The bedrooms are kitted out with hotel-level beds and superior linens. With its two log burners and plush sofas, the home is set up for cosy winter break and evenings spent together in the lounge with a film, or around the grand dining table with a feast. Head to the balcony in the warmer months and relax on the sofas with a round of cool beers. Spend days on the local Blue Flag beaches, or rent a small boat which you can moor right outside the home seeing that you'll be based on the River Avon. When the sun is out, spend mornings in your garden with a cup of tea, determining today’s walking trail - the Christchurch Coastal Path spanning between Highcliffe and Mudeford Quay is a real highlight and only fifteen minutes by car. Stop in at The Bear of Burton for a refined pub classic before heading home for a movie night in front of the log burner.

Forget about beach life for a second and head further up into town, where you’ll find this luxurious flat just ten minutes from Bournemouth train station on foot. In an Edwardian building, this refurbished home is a distinguished and elegant base for exploring the delights of Dorset. We love the fabulous living space – antique and vintage furniture meets modern, industrial pieces in this eclectic room. The brick fireplace features a funky mirror in its hearth, the Ziegler rug plays host to a mid-century leather Barcelona chair and footstool, the white Chesterfield sofa and regency chaise longue are perfect for relaxing, and the reflection of the black wire chandelier can be seen in the ornate gilded mirror. You’re sure to be charmed by this home of sophisticated and exquisite contrasts. On a sunny morning, wake up to light from the huge, bay windows and head out for a wander. You’ll hit the beach in under thirty minutes, but we recommend taking the long way through town to discover cool local shops and great restaurants on Charminster Road. Further afield, the scenic New Forest is half an hour away in the car, and the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula can be reached in twenty.

Only a couple of blocks from bars and eateries, this modern home places its guests beside Bournemouth Beach. You'll receive a thoughtful welcome hamper upon your arrival, offering slippers and teatime treats. Don't fancy sipping sundowners on the decking? Hang out in the games room instead. There's even Netflix and a PlayStation here. As for practical bonuses, the twin beds can be set up as doubles. With an EV charger, Dorset road trips are on the cards via the easily accessible A338 dual carriageway.

Where do we start with this home – both the apartment and the location are excellent. Firstly, it’s just a 50-metre stroll across West Cliff Green to the beach steps making this the perfect base for a family-friendly holiday by the sea. There are an array of restaurants and bars within walking distance whilst Bournemouth Pier and the town centre are also accessible by foot. We love the sea views from this place’s private garden and who wouldn’t want to dine or relax in the light-filled conservatory? If you’re a group of eight, then two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, but it’s a spacious room. What a great find this is.

This former hotel sits in the heart of Bournemouth. Perfect for large groups and events, there’s plenty of space for entertaining across the large living and dining room. The bedrooms offer a quiet space to rest and recharge and they all come with en-suite bathrooms. There’s also a wonderful garden with a hot tub and outdoor seating – perfect for lazy summer afternoons. By day, you can stroll to the nearest shops, cafes and restaurants. It’s also just a short drive to the New Forest National Park and Purbeck Hills.

If the view of the sea from this beachy Bournemouth home doesn’t grab you, then perhaps the ten-minute stroll to the beach and promenade will. It’s also a short walk from the town centre, where you’ll find seafood restaurants, shopping streets and beachside cafés galore. The entire ground floor is dedicated to open-plan living and socialising in a light and breezy fashion. Driftwood sculptures and duck-egg accents complement the otherwise pristine white design. Gather the group for breakfast in the big kitchen where bench seating offers an informal place to dine. Squashy armchairs and a huge sectional sofa provide a place for the whole family to hang out in the evening. On the lower ground floor, you’ll find a second, smaller kitchen and another living room for the group to spread out. Bedrooms are split over the first and second floors where pastel hues and beachy flourishes are sure to send you off to sleep dreaming of the sea.

With plenty of space to spread out, this ground-floor apartment in an Edwardian home near Westbourne is a fantastic base to return to after a day at the beach. Having a private entrance and garden ensures you have all the privacy you need here, plus private parking is a real premium in this area during the summer months. Although there's room for six, we think the main bedroom is better suited to two adults and two children, while the second bedroom is ideal if you're travelling with another couple. When it's time to explore, you'll find the beautiful sandy beach of Alum Chine just 350 metres away, whilst a 15-minute walk will get you to the eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes and bars of Westbourne and its beautiful Victorian arcade.

This home is just a five-minute stroll from Bournemouth's town centre and ten from the beach and pier – now that's convenient. With such a wonderful location, we don't blame you for spending your days exploring. But for those seeking a bit of R&R, this house is the ideal choice. As soon as you walk through the door, you'll notice the relaxed ambience and seaside-inspired design. It's spread across three floors, so there's space for everyone. The kitchen is well-appointed for family dinners, while a small garden out back has sundowners and barbecues covered. Topping it all off, your host can arrange a hot tub for an additional fee – the perfect ending to a day on the coast.

Bournemouth town centre is a twenty-minute walk away, where you'll find plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés to try out. Refuel and continue your walk down to the water's edge – it takes around forty minutes to arrive at the iconic pier and sandy beach. Golfers will be happy that the local course is just a ten-minute drive away, while nature lovers can stroll through Upton Country Park, just fifteen minutes away by car.

A fifteen-minute walk from the sea, this light-filled apartment is an excellent place to recharge after a day out and about in Bournemouth. There are plenty of entertainment options to keep you occupied when you're not exploring – strum a tune on the acoustic guitar, put a record on the vinyl player, curl up with a well-thumbed book or sprawl out on the sofa and watch a Netflix movie. With crisp white walls and clean-lined furniture, the vibe here is minimal and modern. And we like the little extras, too, like the slow cooker in the glossy kitchen, Crabtree & Evelyn soaps and a lavish rainfall shower. 

Another thing we love? The location. A fifteen-minute stroll through the woods takes you straight to Alum Chine Beach, while countless pubs, restaurants and shops are just around the corner from the apartment. This is an ideal spot to discover the best of Bournemouth and Poole, with many family-friendly activities and sun-kissed beaches either within walking distance (including Bournemouth Pier, thirty minutes on foot) or a quick drive away.

Just steps from Charminster High Street, this ground floor flat is brimming with Victorian character. It's a lovely red-brick townhouse, with plenty of historic charm to admire – think high ceilings and picture rails, ornamental ceiling roses, tall skirting boards and large bay windows flooding the rooms with light. Though it's on the smaller side, it's been well-designed to maximise the space – we think it's perfectly suited to a couple after a romantic escape. Read the morning paper in the plush armchair, help yourself to a selection of cereals and teas at the rustic breakfast bar or unwind after a busy day with a movie night in the cosy living room. The kitchenette is more suited to light bites than extravagant meals, so in the evenings you may want to dine out – there's an array of cafes, pubs and restaurants in Charminster to choose from. Bournemouth town centre and its sandy beaches are a twenty-five-minute walk (though we recommend driving), or venture a little further and enjoy a trip to the Jurassic Coast, famous for its fossils – you can be there in under an hour.

A short walk from the vibrant village of Ashley Cross, which offers a variety of local bars, restaurants and coffee shops, this modern apartment has a convenient address. There's a south-facing balcony to soak up the Dorset sun, while inside, there's a well-equipped kitchen for cooking some local seafood. There's also a parking space within the development's underground parking bay. This place is ideal for families or two couples looking for a comfortable and base in Poole.

It’s not all about watersports, boat trips, and beachside bars (although you can certainly still experience these delights, just two miles from the shore). A convenient three-minute walk from Parkstone train station, this apartment is located in a quieter, residential area where you’ll feel more like a local. But don’t be fooled – this is a VIP experience. Whether you’d like to arrange for the in-house chef to come over, spend the afternoon paddleboarding, or head out on a boat trip, your host will make sure your stay is memorable. As you arrive, enjoy delicious tea and biscuits, or a glass of wine, from your generous welcome hamper. While you savour nibbles in the lounge, admire the sophisticated interiors – dark blue feature walls, plush grey sofas, and a woven standing lamp are just a few elements we love. We love the private terrace, which overlooks the Sea Music sculpture and is a wonderful spot for watching the boats coming and going from the harbour. The sandy beaches of Sandbanks and Branksome are a fifteen-minute drive, and Sandbanks can also be reached by boat.

This is elegant, country living at its very best. Set in the heart of the New Forest National Park, this charming cottage is just a five-minute drive from the pretty village of Burley with its quirky shops, pubs, and tea houses and a twenty-minute drive to the coast. Inside this home, a wash of soothing sage and neutral tones blends with slate flooring and quality furniture to create a house full of character and style. Fully kitted out with families in mind, the hosts have thought of every last detail. There's a playroom brimming with toys and books to keep the kids amused, and they'll love the bunk beds upstairs in the light-filled bedrooms. For the adults, a slipper bath is waiting to unwind in, and there's a wood-burning fire for curling up beside in the evenings. The welcome basket is impressive, too – with a cheeky bottle of wine ready to enjoy once little ones are tucked up in bed. Outside at the bottom of the charming garden, there's a gate leading you into the woods with a babbling brook for splashing about with fishing nets. You may even spot wild ponies trotting by. Could anything sound more idyllic? We don't think so.

Whilst the beach isn't completely private and secluded, it maintains a peaceful ambiance at all times. Lay your towel on the golden sands and enjoy an afternoon of sunbathing, punctuated by refreshing dips in the sea. If you wanted refreshments, many bars, restaurants and shops line the coastline. 

When you're out for the day, make sure to pick up some meats, vegetables and drinks to enjoy on the terrace. Sizzle the food on the BBQ and share your tipple of choice for a romantic evening. The experience is made more magical if it's illuminated by the gorgeous tones of sunset.
