Second Nature is the best of both worlds. Found on the edge of Cheltenham, it’s only a short drive from the city, while still feeling incredibly idyllic and rural because of its immediate surroundings. Ideally placed for countryside walks, the Cotswold Way passes right behind the home, along with several other walking paths. We loved the attention to detail – the handmade, one-of-a-kind four-poster bed is truly something else. And let’s not forget about the views… We particularly enjoyed gazing at the green fields from the living room window.

Located on a quiet street yet just a minute's walk from Cheltenham's high street, this home is the ideal base for those looking to be in the heart of the town's action. From the dazzlingly bright white kitchen to the art-framed dining area and plump sofa in the sitting room, chic meets comfort in this home’s eclectic contemporary decor. We love the large glass doors that lead out onto a private patio garden – the ideal spot to begin sunny mornings with a cup of Earl Grey and toast to good times over sundowners. The two bedrooms, meanwhile, are pared back and sophisticated (you've even got a choice of pillows to suit your preference) but it’s the master bathroom that really steals the show with its freestanding tub under a beautiful fanned mirror. Treat yourself to a long soak after a day of exploring  – a glass of bubbly in hand – and relish the quiet of your garden-facing locale. Speaking of sightseeing, you’ve got a plethora of restaurants, shops and wine bars on your front step, while Montpellier Gardens is an eight-minute stroll away. Pittville Park is also walkable in twenty minutes, the Promenade is six minutes away on foot and the iconic Cheltenham Racecourse is a nine-minute drive from your door.

And your apartment, overlooking Clarence Square, slots in seamlessly. There’s an understated elegance to the interiors – the tones are muted and well-considered to create a space that’s both sophisticated and inviting. While you already have everything you need to ensure a blissful stay – the kitchen’s fully equipped and the super king size bed is absurdly comfortable – your host is on hand to make it that bit more special with a choice of optional extras. Perhaps you’ll pick the breakfast hamper, or if your team’s in the playoffs, go for the Sky Sports package. When it’s time to explore, Pittville Park is a ten-minute walk away for morning strolls that clear the cobwebs and picnics when the weather is nice. Montpellier, the smartest part of town, with tasting menu restaurants and farm-to-table eateries, is only a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep.

This Cheltenham pad has a lot to write home about, but our favourite is the attention to detail. You're in good hands with host Bren – everything you could possibly want or need is taken care of, which means all you need to worry about is relaxing. And there's no better place to do just that than in the cosy living area. Sink into one of the soft sofas, cuddle up with quirky throw pillows and put on your favourite Netflix show when you crave a chilled night at home. When the weather is nice, enjoy the bottle of wine and treats from the welcome basket in the private courtyard – it's a great spot to soak up the sunshine. We also adore the bright blue kitchen – complete with all kinds of crockery and culinary gear for stress-free self-catering – as well as the characterful bedrooms. If you need to do some work, there's a private study with a desk and bookshelves. Best of all, this home is in an excellent spot for exploring. You're just a ten-minute walk from Cheltenham centre, where you'll find boutique shops, local restaurants and plenty of cultural attractions. Or, hop in the car and visit the charming towns in the Cotswolds – many are a twenty-minute drive away.

The apartment itself has a fuss-free interior on the ground floor. But as for a prime location, we love that you'll be within walking distance of Pittville Park and the town centre. While the garden is shared with your neighbours, the decked terrace is all yours for sipping sundowners after touring the nearby sights.

Rather aptly for an apartment on a street called Queen's Circus, this home is really rather regal. Some of that is down to the tall ceilings, period features and tall sash windows looking out over Imperial Gardens, but it's all the little design touches, too — the chandeliers and oversized, ornate mirror frames add a touch of class in the living space and bedrooms, while the rainfall shower and elegant free-standing tub bring spa-level amenities to the bathrooms. The kitchen is both large and dazzlingly white, perfect for any culinary experimentation you have in mind. Alternatively, you're more than welcome to leave it completely unused, as there's a wide array of restaurants available in the surrounding Montpellier neighbourhood. If the weather's kind during your visit, Sandford Parks Lido can be reached in fifteen minutes' on foot, while you can be in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in ten minutes' drive.

But now and again there’s an opulent flourish – we loved the chandelier and gold-framed mirrors in the living space. From seasonal British fodder in an old Art Deco cinema to international fare by the leafy Montpellier Gardens, you’re spoilt for choice for places to eat. Begin your mornings with a cup of tea in the courtyard before strolling through Pittville Park, a thirty-minute walk away, or time your stay right and experience one of the town’s famous events – you’re less than fifteen minutes from Imperial Gardens the annual Music Festival is held.

Consisting of a main house and a studio annexe for two, there's plenty of space here to relax together or enjoy some private time away from the group. We love the garden most of all – little ones can let loose in the play area while grown-ups enjoy a tipple around the outdoor dining table. Location-wise, Cheltenham town centre is less than a mile away, and plenty of parks in the local area are ideal for dog walks. You'll have to pay for parking, but a car isn't really necessary with so much in walking distance.

Each room is as comfortable as the next (although some are a little dated), and the fireplace in the living area makes the whole home feel even cosier. With a whole town of Regency architecture to admire, Cheltenham is full of listed buildings and has an altogether regal air. While it might be well known for the races, you don’t need to don your best hat when staying in this funky, modern home, eleven minutes from the town centre. With classic features like large Georgian windows in every room, but a playful and colourful decor, there’s a certain delight in the contrasts. We also love the mirrored dressing table in the bedroom, which feels more LA than Gloucestershire, but certainly adds to the VIP vibe. Its large bathroom boasts a huge freestanding tub as well as a separate rainfall shower – much better than the famous English drizzle. And if you're lucky enough to be here during a sunny spell, you’ve got your own private patio with a cute dining set – perfect for an alfresco glass of pinot grigio. If you’re in need of some more lush greenery, pack a picnic full of local deli goods and head out to Montpellier Gardens, a seven-minute walk from home.

You’ll be close to Cheltenham’s Regency architecture, parks, shops, and restaurants, but it’s easy to think you’re in the middle of nowhere. The studio is small but perfectly formed, with a petite dining area and cosy lounge – there’s even a charming private patio and courtyard garden.

The ground floor of this new-build in the Montpellier neighbourhood is a great example of how to execute open-concept design successfully. Upon entrance, there's a zone for socialising, with a green velvet sofa and a chic glass dining table. This moves onto the minimalist kitchen, which has plenty of surface space and a sleek island for morning coffee. Carry on and you'll reach a glass door that opens out onto a large patio, decorated with conifers, loose stone and potted plants — a lovely spot for soaking up the sunshine. If you've been blessed with good weather, Montpellier Garden is only five minutes' walk away. Similarly, the famous Devil's Chimney, along with hiking routes in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty can be reached in ten minutes in the car.

If you’re seeking a true taste of Regency glamour, look no further than this wonderfully elegant apartment in the heart of Cheltenham. Grand and luxurious, it exudes the kind of decadent charm for which the town is known, transporting you to a bygone era of romantic sophistication with its period details and offering all modern comforts for a relaxing stay. An elegant, imposing home fit for a special gathering of family and friends, this place is a real showstopper. With room for twenty-four guests in the main house, and the possibility of adding another two in the annexe, it's so big you may have trouble finding your way around. We suggest you begin your day with coffee in the huge kitchen, with doors out to either side of the home's one-acre gardens. Contemporary and bright, its high-spec appliances will make cooking for such a large group a breeze, with two ovens and a gigantic island. 

After breakfast, head to your enormous indoor pool for a swim, before a stroll to the nearby deli to pick up some things for lunch. The rest of the day can be whiled away in luxury, with games of table tennis, pool and table football indoors, or a football match in the garden. In the evening, screen a movie in the cinema room, whip up a barbecue for a lazy meal in the garden or even hire a private chef for a special meal in the incredible dining room, where vast walls of bi-folding doors open it right up to the outside space.

Around the house, there are numerous comfy bedrooms and bathrooms, and there's a cosy sitting room with enough sofas for everyone to sit and chat over evening drinks. And if you're heading into town, it's just an easy ten-minute drive or taxi ride to all the bars, cafes, restaurants and shops that Cheltenham is famous for.

A neutral palette of colours in the living space brings a sense of calm, with a plush, pale-peach sofa and sand-coloured walls contrasting beautifully with dark wooden floors. Of course in this historic place, there would have to be some original features to admire in the home. Our favourites are the Georgian sash windows, ornate ceiling rose, and green tiled fireplace. Imagine cosying up around this striking hearth with a glass of pinot noir in hand – bliss. Another excellent spot to enjoy sipping wine would be in the freestanding bathtub, just for an extra feeling of spa-like luxury. In the morning, after a cup of Earl Grey, hop in the car and explore the Cotswolds half an hour away. Or if you’re looking for a more local green space, Montpellier Gardens are just a seven-minute walk from home.

This charming home is perfect for a couple seeking a romantic escape in the Cotswolds. It’s a self-contained home with a private garden at the bottom of Leckhampton Hill, between Cheltenham and Gloucester. From here, you’ll be perfectly placed to take in the sights of the Cotswolds. We love the simple style of this cosy home, which has a practical kitchen and pleasant dining space. You’ll be able to relax here. 

Village Treasure

This period home is ideal for a chic Cheltenham stay. Downstairs, the white and cream colour scheme exudes sophistication. Upstairs, you'll find three comfortable bedrooms, with the fourth on the lower ground floor. Some are smaller than others, and there's only one bathroom for six people, although it does have a roll-top bath perfect for unwinding. That said, the private garden is our favourite feature, where you can enjoy a tipple or two in the sunshine. Fancy getting out and about? You're close to Cheltenham's main attractions, including the historic centre with ample shops and eateries.

This gorgeous apartment couldn't sum up Cheltenham any better. Set in a typical Regency terrace (Grade II listed, no less), it's in a great location on the outskirts of town with easy access to the independent eateries of Montpellier and a pub restaurant at the end of the road. Smart and comfortable, it's got all the character of a period home plus modern luxuries like en-suite bathrooms and stylish furniture. Open the shutters and the home floods with natural light. There's a sociable living area with a comfy L-shaped sofa and a dining table for four, and there's a fully kitted-out kitchen just off it – complete with retro serving hatch. Both bedrooms are bright and spacious, and we love the master bedroom's twin windows. Deep in the heart of the Cotswolds, we found this idyllic home to be an ideal setting for a romantic escape. Both Glouster and Cheltenham are a short drive away, but beautiful nature, picturesque villages, and country pubs accessible via cross-country walks are the main draw here. As it's an annex, you won't be completely secluded outside, but the home is yours alone and has a private entrance. While there are plenty of welcome authentic touches – especially the wooden lintels and exposed brickwork – the sloping ceiling in the bedroom might inconvenience taller guests.

Tranquil Nature Escape

Only a mile from Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle, this pocket-sized hideaway is a perfect fit for two. We love how cosy and bright the living space is. Whether you're preparing breakfast in the mint green kitchenette, unwinding with a glass of wine on the comfy sofa or snuggling up in the sumptuous bed adorned with a William Morris duvet, you'll feel right at home here.
