Dating back to the 1880s, this former barn now provides a beautiful countryside cottage experience for families exploring The Cotswolds. Though it's since undergone renovations, it takes pride in the stone floors, exposed walls and beams, adding character and charm to the space, even if the sloped ceilings mean taller guests have to watch their heads. At least there's no ducking outside where an expansive garden gives you more than enough space. You'll also find the seasonal swimming pool, fire pit, alfresco dining table and, if requested, a hot tub out here. As for location, you're within easy driving distance of Cotswolds treasures such as Tetbury, Malmesbury and Cirencester.

The bed configuration here is super flexible, with both bedrooms able to be set up as twin or king rooms. This along with the sofa bed in the living room makes this home a great little nest whether you're travelling with kids or as a group of friends or couples.

Located in the charming market town of Cirencester, this Grade II listed cottage is the perfect base for a couple or close-knit group of friends looking to spend some time in the capital of the Cotswolds. Inside, it’s modern yet characterful – we loved the original timber beams, log-burning stove and charming spiral staircase that leads to the cosy second bedroom. Should you have some work to attend to, there’s an office space for you to set up your laptop. 

Wake up with a coffee in the quiet living space before putting together a tasty breakfast in the farmhouse-style kitchen. If the weather is on your side, spill out into the garden and finish cups of tea at the bistro set in the warm sunshine. 

Pull on your comfiest shoes and get to know your surroundings. You’re a seven-minute walk from the indie shops that cluster around Market Place and five minutes from the Barton Lane entrance of Cirencester Park – an excellent place to stop for a picnic. Take a dip in the spring-fed, open-air pool in the heights of the summer, follow bridleways that snake through the unspoilt countryside or jump in the car and spend an afternoon in pretty Bibury, a fifteen-minute drive away.

This isn’t the best option if you’re seeking seclusion and privacy, but it’s ideal for family fun and relaxation.

A first-floor flat found in a Cotswold Holiday Park, this functional home is ideal for families. While the decor is a bit too minimal for our liking, the balcony is a nice spot for a barbeque, and the two bathrooms make morning routines seamless. We were also pleased with the kitchen, which offers everything needed for extended stays. What booked this home's place in our collection though was its family-friendly activities – from the spa to indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts to nature trails, children and adults alike won't grow restless here.

This cute-as-a-button cottage in the beautiful village of Poulton is the ultimate Cotswolds hideaway. Think honey-brown stone walls with an A-frame doorway, and a private garden bursting with bloom fit for the Chelsea Flower Show. Spend sunny days gathered together on the lawn, listening to birds sing and breathing in the fresh and flowery scent of the cottage garden.

Inside, it’s an ode to cottage-core living, with wooden beams running along low ceilings and the old stone bread oven in the living room harking back to the cottage's 400-year history. Plush sofas are made all the more cosy with Angora throws, and there’s a small selection of books at the ready for those quieter moments. In the dine-in kitchen, a wood-burning stove and flagstone floors whisper of a bygone time. 

Your hosts take great pride in their home, and it shows, with a high level of attention and care evident down to the last detail. Upstairs you’ll find two tastefully coloured bedrooms alongside a gorgeously bright bathroom with a tadelakt finish. Downstairs to the rear of the cottage, inspiration has been drawn from the Japanese onsens, manifesting in a garden spa bathroom complete with cedar shingles and exposed brick, which opens out onto a private courtyard. Outside, your hosts’ passion shines through even more, with handmade willow fences and sunshade. To the front of the cottage is a herb and flower-filled garden in which you can spend summer days dining alfresco or lazing about on one of two deck chairs.

Set in the centre of the Cotswolds, you are perfectly positioned for exploring the north and south of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at your leisure. The picturesque town of Bibury is just a ten-minute drive away, while Roman ruins lie six minutes in the other direction in Cirencester. Closer to home, why not take a stroll to The Gilbertine for a spot of brunch, or try out the Village Inn at Barnsley, or The Crown at Ampney, both just a five-minute drive away.

Picture this: a beautiful Costwolds cottage with roses round the door and idyllic views over the neighbouring countryside. Set over three floors, this historic home retains heaps of character, with exposed stone walls and ancient wood beams, alongside contemporary alterations like a sparkling new kitchen and a glass panel staircase. Cosy and smartly furnished, the living room's feature fireplace has a log burner for warming up on winter evenings and leads through to a stylish dining space with log storage built into the wall. Equipped with everything you could need to cook at home, the kitchen is lit by a huge ceiling lantern and a big window. Bedrooms are classic country style and we particularly love the freestanding bathtub in the main bathroom and the pretty bedroom on the top floor. The house shares a rear courtyard with some neighbouring properties but a large, private garden lies across the lane to the front.

A homely lakeside retreat, this two-storey home is an ideal base for a family who wants to be close to endless outdoor activities. What stood out to us was the deck – from breakfast to supper, you'll want to have all your meals alfresco here (weather permitting), overlooking the lake. In colder months, the fireplace and indoor dining table are nice touches, and the bedrooms are small but cosy. You can't grow bored here, either – the home provides access to the spa facilities in the nearby holiday park, along with its pools. There is also a wide selection of other recreational activities available for a fee – from bike rentals to paddle boarding.

Nestled on the shores of Howells Mere Lake and sitting within a Cotswolds holiday park, this home benefits from access to an array of shared facilities. You’ll be able to indulge in the outdoor eco pool, a spa with a range of treatments which can be booked in advance, as well as a gym and tennis court, among other features. The home has a private upstairs balcony, perfect for alfresco meals with lake views, in addition to a ground-floor deck. Huge picture windows are a nice touch too, allowing you to take in the lake views from the inside. Bear in mind that a car is recommended here to make the most out of your stay, although a bike is also a great way to discover the local area.

The holiday park is surrounded by acres of nature reserve and offers plenty of outdoor activities such as biking and paddle boarding, plus shared facilities like a swimming pool and spa. Stepping through glass sliding doors, you’re on the terrace by the waterside with lounge furniture and a barbecue. The highlight is the rooftop terrace which is a real sun trap during the day and has views over the lakeside estate.
