We think it's ideal for families – for an additional fee, furry friends are welcome and your host can provide a travel cot and high chair. The glass wall at the back of the house offers great lake views and natural light, but it does mean that some privacy is lost if you're spending time outside in the hot tub, or if you have the light on in the evening. You'll enjoy access to a range of onsite facilities though, from a spa and pool to a restaurant and shop, and you can explore the area by bike, on foot or even by canoe.

Dating back to the 1880s, this former barn now provides a beautiful countryside cottage experience for families exploring The Cotswolds. Though it's since undergone renovations, it takes pride in the stone floors, exposed walls and beams, adding character and charm to the space, even if the sloped ceilings mean taller guests have to watch their heads. At least there's no ducking outside where an expansive garden gives you more than enough space. You'll also find the seasonal swimming pool, fire pit, alfresco dining table and, if requested, a hot tub out here. As for location, you're within easy driving distance of Cotswolds treasures such as Tetbury, Malmesbury and Cirencester.

You'll find yourself immersed in local dining, shopping, and entertainment in the town centre a light stroll away, while the surrounding countryside is peppered with scenic walks and beautiful views for the more nature-inclined. The bed configuration here is super flexible, with both bedrooms able to be set up as twin or king rooms. This along with the sofa bed in the living room makes this home a great little nest whether you're travelling with kids or as a group of friends or couples.

Sitting on the edge of Lake Pochard, you’ll be treated to beautiful views, a private terrace and a barbecue for outdoor dining. Inside, there’s a wood-burning fire for cosy evenings and all the home comforts you could need to settle in and unwind. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you and there are a range of extra services available – including massage treatments and organised experiences. Guests can also enjoy private coarse fishing on the lake and there’s plenty to explore in the surroundings. Plus, the nearest restaurant is just a short walk away.

Set over three floors, this historic home retains heaps of character, with exposed stone walls and ancient wood beams, alongside contemporary alterations like a sparkling new kitchen and a glass panel staircase. Cosy and smartly furnished, the living room's feature fireplace has a log burner for warming up on winter evenings and leads through to a stylish dining space with log storage built into the wall. Equipped with everything you could need to cook at home, the kitchen is lit by a huge ceiling lantern and a big window. Bedrooms are classic country style and we particularly love the freestanding bathtub in the main bathroom and the pretty bedroom on the top floor. The house shares a rear courtyard with some neighbouring properties but a large, private garden lies across the lane to the front. 

The Vintage Room

A homely lakeside retreat, this two-storey home is an ideal base for a family who wants to be close to endless outdoor activities. What stood out to us was the deck – from breakfast to supper, you'll want to have all your meals alfresco here (weather permitting), overlooking the lake. In colder months, the fireplace and indoor dining table are nice touches, and the bedrooms are small but cosy. You can't grow bored here, either – the home provides access to the spa facilities in the nearby holiday park, along with its pools. There is also a wide selection of other recreational activities available for a fee – from bike rentals to paddle boarding.

Nestled on a private estate bursting with amenities, this charming home is surrounded by acres of nature reserve and hiking trails. You'll have access to the on-site spa and communal pools, plus a gym, restaurant, and activity centre. The furnishings here are simple, with everything you need for whipping up family meals and relaxing in front of the wood-burning fireplace. The bunk beds, while too small for adults, are ideal for children, and you can rent extra childcare equipment during your stay. You might want a car for exploring the nearby villages and towns in the Cotswolds, but there's plenty on the estate to keep you entertained, from tennis courts to watersports out on the lakes.

Come to an activity-driven nature reserve, where kayaking and bike rides await on private grounds. A minute's walk from Somerford Lagoon, this home sits amid a row of cottages sharing an orchard. While the living area is great for fireside relaxation, be careful not to bump your head on the sloped ceilings upstairs. A shared pool and tennis courts are a stone's throw away, and more facilities are to be discovered. Off-site, the Cotswolds promise so much in the way of romantic villages, rich history, and rural pleasures.

Located in the charming market town of Cirencester, this Grade II listed cottage is the perfect base for a couple or close-knit group of friends looking to spend some time in the capital of the Cotswolds. Inside, it’s modern yet characterful – we loved the original timber beams, log-burning stove and charming spiral staircase that leads to the cosy second bedroom. Should you have some work to attend to, there’s an office space for you to set up your laptop. 

Wake up with a coffee in the quiet living space before putting together a tasty breakfast in the farmhouse-style kitchen. If the weather is on your side, spill out into the garden and finish cups of tea at the bistro set in the warm sunshine. 

Pull on your comfiest shoes and get to know your surroundings. You’re a seven-minute walk from the indie shops that cluster around Market Place and five minutes from the Barton Lane entrance of Cirencester Park – an excellent place to stop for a picnic. Take a dip in the spring-fed, open-air pool in the heights of the summer, follow bridleways that snake through the unspoilt countryside or jump in the car and spend an afternoon in pretty Bibury, a fifteen-minute drive away.

Situated on a historic private estate in the heart of Gloucestershire, this dreamy cottage is the perfect setting for your next family getaway to the Cotswolds. 

You’d be hard-pressed to find a cosier base than this – boasting a snug living room complete with soft throws and a toasty fireplace, this is the kind of place we all dream of coming home to after a chilly day in the English countryside. Warm up with a cup of tea on the sofa or head upstairs to the family bathroom for a relaxing bubble bath before drifting off to sleep in one of the cottage's quiet bedrooms.

The next morning, start your day with a breakfast of locally produced organic goodies from the local farm shop or – if the weather’s on your side – head out to the garden and soak up some sun. This is the perfect place for little ones and four-legged friends to roam but there’s plenty to explore in the local area if you fancy a change of scenery. Breathe in the sweet scent of lime blossom as you travel down the 800-metre private road leading out of the estate – with Westonbirt Arboretum, Berkeley Castle, and The Cotswold Water Park all within striking distance, you've got plenty of destinations to choose from so why not ditch the GPS and see where the day takes you?

A first-floor flat found in a Cotswold Holiday Park, this functional home is ideal for families. While the decor is a bit too minimal for our liking, the balcony is a nice spot for a barbeque, and the two bathrooms make morning routines seamless. We were also pleased with the kitchen, which offers everything needed for extended stays. What booked this home's place in our collection though was its family-friendly activities – from the spa to indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts to nature trails, children and adults alike won't grow restless here. 

The Reed Hunter

Nestled among a nature reserve in the Cotswolds, this home provides a great family getaway. The home boasts a lovely wooden terrace and private balcony, but the real highlight is its private cinema room complete with vintage chairs. As the house is located on a large estate, privacy may be lacking a bit though there are numerous activities here to keep you busy. Guests can make use of the on-site swimming pools, spa facilities, as well as the restaurant. To explore the surroundings a bit better you can also hire bikes or water-sports equipment for the day. 

The Wooden Frame

Set within a 1,600-acre farm, this renovated stable is a slice of peace and a pop of colour in the Cotswold countryside. When you arrive you'll be greeted by a picture-perfect dream cottage, filled with the original oak beams, chic country flair, and a pretty master bedroom with a view and French doors into the garden. Your nearest neighbours are another stable, so the home is perfect for switching off all communication and settling in for a stay of walking, reading, and eating. The open-plan kitchen and lounge space is ideal for cooking together, as well as a comfy sofa in front of a log-burner, perfect for cuddling up after a day exploring. On sunny days, we love opening the French doors and letting in the fresh air, before wine and nibbles on the south-facing patio. If it gets cold, you can light the fire pit - which is also great for roasting marshmallows. The huge farm is open for exploring, with walks over fields, as well as to the farm's shop, where we love to stock up on food produced on the home's doorstep. The spot is in an excellent location for exploring some of the area’s most picturesque villages, while Cirencester and its smarter restaurants are only a 20-minute drive away.
