Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

There's bucket loads of character at this historic home in Deal's pretty Middle Street Conservation Area. Set along a row of pastel-coloured terraced houses, this unique space was once an Ale House, and thanks to its Grade II-listed status, it has maintained plenty of its original features including exposed brick chimney breasts, beamed ceilings and a charming façade with gold leaf signage. Inside, a quirky layout awaits with two separate buildings connected by a central courtyard and a Moroccan-tiled hallway, with two bedrooms in the main house and the living area and a further bedroom in the mezzanine building. It’s a brilliant home for families as the kids will love the multiple levels, the playful attic bedroom and the comfy sofas to curl up on for movie nights. Georgian features mixed with colourful vintage details make it a cheery space to come home to after fun at the beach or days exploring the coast (a five-minute stroll away), and when you’re not out tasting the fresh fish and seafood on offer at one of the nearby restaurants, the cottage-style kitchen and dining room are great for gathering around for meals at the old oak table. There’s also space for getting some work done at the kitchen bar overlooking the courtyard or in the courtyard itself, and if you’re in the mood for a change of scenery, you’ll be just a short walk from the town's great local pubs, shops and cafes.

From the outside, it's a quintessential fisherman's cottage, but that's where the olde-worlde vibes end. Sensitively and lovingly restored by a London power couple – a chef-restaurateur and a landscape designer – the home has been transformed into a light-filled, modern space full of creative touches. While those all-important original fireplaces, sash windows, and wooden floorboards remain, everything else has been reimagined. Downstairs, there's a pitched roof dining space with a contemporary free-standing kitchen made for action, leading into a bijou but perfectly formed garden crammed with exotic palms. Upstairs, there are three surprisingly spacious bedrooms spread out over two floors and a modern shower room. And when it's time to hit the beach, you won't have far to go – it's just a one-minute amble away - as is the bustling high street for cream teas and local antique browsing. Or, for a hefty dose of nostalgia, stroll along to the promenade to buy fish and chips, gamble two-pence pieces in the arcades, and treat yourself to a double cone at the ice cream parlour – it would be rude not to.

After a long day on the coast, snuggle up in front of the electric fire for a cosy night at home. If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. With the rest of the White Cliffs Country easily accessed by car, it's the ideal spot for a romantic retreat by the sea.

This light and bright home is the perfect place to socialise with your family and friends. The soft pink-themed master bedroom, with its roll-top bath and stunning sea views, is a wonderful romantic space – pour a glass of wine and relax. Located on the promenade at Walmer – this home is primed for idyllic days on Deal Castle Beach, just 20 yards away. There's a fish and chip shop a 30-second saunter, while there's a café and pub within a one and three minute wander respectively. For the little ones, Walmer Paddling Pool is a mere two-minute amble. Or take a pleasant seafront walk to Deal (ten minutes on foot) in one direction and Walmer Castle, just over a twenty-minute stroll, in the other.

We absolutely love how the host's personal style shines through this home, but it's so beautifully done that anyone can appreciate it. It's clear that a lot of love has gone into this, from the wallpapered panels in the cosy living room to the toys in the third bedroom. Even the bathrooms are an interior design marvel. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

You'll love mornings in your bright cottage. For an extra special breakfast, why not take the short two-minute walk to the High Street and pick up pastries from the bakery, maybe even some sausages and bacon from the butchers? Take them back home for a beautiful spread out in the fabulously decorated courtyard, feeling the morning sun on your face as you sip your fresh coffee. Then, when it's time to explore, just walking around the colourful streets of Deal is a treat. You could take the short fifteen-minute walk to Deal Castle before eating classic fish and chips on the beach. We think the host of this home quite clearly has an eye for design. Inside, the living room has been painted a bold shade of teal and the walls have been adorned with an arty selection of colourful prints. Add to this a couple of antique furnishings and a collection of quirky mementoes peppered about the shelves, and you have a lively space that would liven up any Instagram grid. The rest of the home is far simpler in design, although finished to the same high standard — the marble bathroom comes with both a rainfall shower or a bathtub, for instance. The Deal seafront sits two mintues' walk around the corner, while the town's striking circular castle can be reached in seven on foot. Further afield, the White Cliffs of Dover are just over twenty-five minutes away in the car.

Nestled between Dover and Ramsgate on the Kent coastline, Deal is often overlooked – but it’s the getaway destination of choice for those in the know. There’s a buzz about the place, with a smattering of intimate wine bars, indie galleries and casual-contemporary restaurants to keep you occupied when you’re not sunning yourself on the beach. Despite its emerging artsy identity, Deal hasn’t lost its seaside charm. You’ll find amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and a Saturday market that has existed since 1699. And your pretty home is less than a ten-minute walk from it all. Inside, it’s bright and comforting, with muted tones and a curated selection of modern and shabby chic furnishings. Out the back, there’s a quiet courtyard with seating area for drinks at sundown and a fire pit to keep you toasty. On wet and windy days, leaf through the kitchen’s recipe books and cook up a warming supper. Speaking of venturing out, Deal Seafront and Pier are a stone's throw away, while the nearby High Street invites you to explore its independent boutiques and quirky shops, before stopping in at a local deli or cafe for a bite to eat. Deal Castle is also a short stroll away – built in the shape of a Tudor Rose it's well worth a visit for its rich history and sea views.

Its indoors are just as tempting too with plenty of bespoke details, including heritage paint, a terrazzo worktop in the kitchen, a cosy wood burner and underfloor heating to keep your toes toasty all year round.   In this eco-conscious household all hand washes and shower gels are refillable, natural and organic. Little ones will enjoy sharing the bunk beds in the third bedroom, while we’re certain grow-ups will relish a soak in the tub – perhaps with a glass of wine – after a busy day spent on the coast.

Tucked away on a quiet road, this delightful cottage welcomes a small family or group of friends to embrace coastal living. The owners have carefully designed this home to take inspiration from its surroundings without being overstated. The sandy wood tones, the touches of azure blue, and the bright white walls blend together to create a coastal sanctuary. It's also packed with charm and character, from the vaulted ceilings to the homely kitchen – you'll instantly feel at ease with its soothing decor. 

We love this home's thoughtful interior, but it's the delightful roof terrace that's stolen our hearts. The whitewashed walls and beach chairs might not be what you expect from an English getaway, but this is the seaside after all. 

This cottage is so tucked away on a lovely quiet road that you might forget you're just steps away from Deal's buzzing promenade. It's easy to embrace the artsy vibe of this buzzing town – take walks along the pier, explore the craft shops, pick up local goods in the delis, and enjoy a craft beer in the pubs. Deal is wonderful, but this charming part of Kent has lots to offer – the coastal towns of Walmer and Kingsdown are within easy reach and the historic city of Canterbury is well worth the visit, as is Sandwich. 

However you spend your days, you'll love coming home to your quaint cottage. Whether you're soaking up the last of the sun and enjoying a barbecue on the terrace, tucking into family meals around the dining table, or catching up on your book on the plush sofa, it's easy to make this warm space feel like home.

Back at your pad, the nautical interior design feels inviting and uplifting – we loved the deep blue hues and maritime knick-knacks. Kick off your shoes and make yourself comfortable in the living space. If it’s chilly out, bundle up on the sofa in front of the roaring wood-burning stove before sitting down to a plate of hearty, home-cooked grub in the kitchen. But if the weather is on your side, we recommend a barbecue and a pitcher or two of Pimm’s on the patio.

But for all the provocative design choices, this home is wonderfully liveable - style has certainly not been prioritised over comfort. This charming home was once a favourite pub for weary fishermen at the end of their shift, right on the pebbles of Kingsdown Beach. If you fancy a real ale or cold pint after a day on the beach, don’t worry, the current local pub is just two doors down. If you want a bit more choice, head to the seafood restaurants and swanky bars of Deal, an hour’s walk along the seaside promenade, or an eight-minute drive.
