Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

Tucked away on a quiet pedestrianised lane just off the winding streets of Deal, the flower-adorned way to the front door will feel like a hug for your soul. Stepping inside the home, you’ll notice a homely blend of traditional exposed beams and a brick fireplace that now houses a little wood-burning stove, alongside more modern furnishings.

With the beach minutes away, you might spend days sunbathing or walking the pier and promenade with soft serve in hand, but we recommend time at home to simply unwind with a good book as you curl up on the sofa. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

Set along a row of pastel-coloured terraced houses, this unique space was once an Ale House, and thanks to its Grade II-listed status, it has maintained plenty of its original features including exposed brick chimney breasts, beamed ceilings and a charming façade with gold leaf signage. Inside, a quirky layout awaits with two separate buildings connected by a central courtyard and a Moroccan-tiled hallway, with two bedrooms in the main house and the living area and a further bedroom in the mezzanine building. It’s a brilliant home for families as the kids will love the multiple levels, the playful attic bedroom and the comfy sofas to curl up on for movie nights. Georgian features mixed with colourful vintage details make it a cheery space to come home to after fun at the beach or days exploring the coast (a five-minute stroll away), and when you’re not out tasting the fresh fish and seafood on offer at one of the nearby restaurants, the cottage-style kitchen and dining room are great for gathering around for meals at the old oak table. We'd describe the aesthetic as contemporary coastal – rattan lighting fixtures, leafy houseplants and plush furnishings bring a beachy bohemian air, while the sleek kitchen and crisp, clean lines are elegant and modern. After a long day on the coast, snuggle up in front of the electric fire for a cosy night at home. If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. We absolutely love how the host's personal style shines through this home, but it's so beautifully done that anyone can appreciate it. It's clear that a lot of love has gone into this, from the wallpapered panels in the cosy living room to the toys in the third bedroom. Even the bathrooms are an interior design marvel. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

You'll love mornings in your bright cottage. For an extra special breakfast, why not take the short two-minute walk to the High Street and pick up pastries from the bakery, maybe even some sausages and bacon from the butchers? We think the host of this home quite clearly has an eye for design. Add to this a couple of antique furnishings and a collection of quirky mementoes peppered about the shelves, and you have a lively space that would liven up any Instagram grid. The rest of the home is far simpler in design, although finished to the same high standard — the marble bathroom comes with both a rainfall shower or a bathtub, for instance. The Deal seafront sits two mintues' walk around the corner, while the town's striking circular castle can be reached in seven on foot. Further afield, the White Cliffs of Dover are just over twenty-five minutes away in the car.

Or take a pleasant seafront walk to Deal (ten minutes on foot) in one direction and Walmer Castle, just over a twenty-minute stroll, in the other.

We love this home's thoughtful interior, but it's the delightful roof terrace that's stolen our hearts. The whitewashed walls and beach chairs might not be what you expect from an English getaway, but this is the seaside after all. 

This cottage is so tucked away on a lovely quiet road that you might forget you're just steps away from Deal's buzzing promenade. It's easy to embrace the artsy vibe of this buzzing town – take walks along the pier, explore the craft shops, pick up local goods in the delis, and enjoy a craft beer in the pubs. Deal is wonderful, but this charming part of Kent has lots to offer – the coastal towns of Walmer and Kingsdown are within easy reach and the historic city of Canterbury is well worth the visit, as is Sandwich.

Kick off your shoes and make yourself comfortable in the living space. If it’s chilly out, bundle up on the sofa in front of the roaring wood-burning stove before sitting down to a plate of hearty, home-cooked grub in the kitchen. But if the weather is on your side, we recommend a barbecue and a pitcher or two of Pimm’s on the patio.

Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac in Deal's conservation area, this studio is one for the artists. Belonging to Steve Thomas, who created Big Biba and was Sir Paul McCartney’s personal designer, the walls are adorned with Steve's work. Bold and inspiring, it's also cosy for a stay along Kent's coast. The beach and pier are only minutes away on foot, with The Royal St George's Golf Club a short drive from your front door. Though there is no garden, you can always sit out in front of the studio and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Set one street back from the sea - and a five-minute walk to the pier - this converted loft is a romantic bolthole in the heart of the Kent town. It's undeniably small, but good things come in little packages here: with a black metal bed, cosy two-seater sofa, and kitchen all brightened by sunshine from the skylights. There's some Riviera chic in there too; we love the aqua marine bathroom, with a deep tub for soaking, while in the lounge reclaimed wooden furniture and French posters sing of the sea. For sunny days, Deal's beach is a two-minute skip, as are the adorable pubs and restaurants.

Nestled in the Middle Street conservation area in Deal, it’s the ideal spot for a seaside stay for family and friends alike. This charming home was once a favourite pub for weary fishermen at the end of their shift, right on the pebbles of Kingsdown Beach. Then there’s the secret sauna, tucked down an old alleyway. The pretty little sunroom is furnished with floral armchairs and a vintage-style radio to listen to the Shipping Forecast while gazing out to sea. We love the kitchen and living room, which is packed with vintage pieces and has the air of an old fisherman’s cottage. Poking about through the extensive vinyl collection and browsing the cookbooks is a particular delight.

If exploring is on the agenda, Dover is a fifteen-minute drive south and trendy Deal takes no more than ten, due north – you could walk it in just over an hour if you fancy stretching your legs.

Once inside you'll find it hard to believe this was once a 19th-century fisherman's cottage - the owners have done an extraordinary job transforming in into an East London-style design palace with statement House of Hackney-style wallpaper, taxidermy animals, sculptural lighting and artwork that you'd expect to see in the Saatchi Gallery (we're talking Tracy Emin and Peter Blake originals). But for all the provocative design choices, this home is wonderfully liveable - style has certainly not been prioritised over comfort. In the bedrooms, King-sized beds are perfected with exceptional Egyptian cotton bedding. In the living room, we loved the butter softness of the velvet sofas - they're an absolute dream to relax on. And that zinc bathtub next to the lioness guarantees the most luxurious - and memorable - soak of your life. With so much going on inside it's easy to forget that this home has an unrivalled location right on the beach at Kingsdown (the sea views from the master bedroom are divine), but for an unforgettable beach escape, this dramatic home is impossible to beat.

This period property was built in the style of a South African homestead, so if you’re a fan of unusual features and are looking for a sizeable home, this one’s for you. The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.
