Almost everything is within walking distance, be it the Royal Harbour and the beach or seaside restaurants and shops. Sure, the interiors aren't the most modern, but you'll have space to spread out across the cosy sitting room, eat-in kitchen, and four comfortable bedrooms – though it's worth noting that there's only one bathroom. The cherry on top is the small patio, perfect for morning coffees and alfresco sundowners.

Tick off all of Kent’s coastal hotspots from this apartment set in the East Cliff neighbourhood of Ramsgate. The sea, high street, and harbour are footsteps from your door, and when it’s time to cast your net further to Margate and Broadstairs, there’s free street parking outside. Rather leave the car at home? The coastal bus route stops nearby. A great option for a family stay, the second bedroom sleeps three in a bunk bed made up of a double and single – perfect for little ones sharing. If we were nit-picking, the open-plan living area might feel snug at full occupancy. But those Regency ceilings and windows of grand proportions make all the difference.

Tucked away beneath the scenic clifftop promenade, this top-floor pad offers unmatched access to the golden sands of Broadstairs' horseshoe-shaped beach and the independent boutiques, charming cafes and fantastic restaurants that line its narrow streets.

Wake up to stunning sunrises in the main en-suite bedroom before brewing yourself a coffee and sitting out on the private balcony as the seabirds circle overhead. If it's a little chilly, you can still enjoy the vistas from the comfort of the leather sofa or elect to stay in bed and enjoy a slow start to the day.

Plan your afternoon over breakfast at the Ercol dining table and chairs, backed by a large mirrored wall that reflects the already ample daylight into the room. Elsewhere, a chic baby blue kitchen contains all you might need to make homemade meals. However, with everything from fuss-free fish & chips to fine dining to choose from on your doorstep and in nearby Margate, you might not be spending much time in it.

While Margate is a short drive away, we'd suggest taking your time and following the Viking Trail along expansive beaches and steep chalk cliffs all the way to its sheltered harbour. From here, you're perfectly placed to visit the Turner Contemporary and wander the quaint Old Town, where you can take your pick from several outstanding eateries (though we'd recommend booking ahead) before boarding a bus or catching a taxi back to Broadstairs.

Style meets comfort in this wonderfully located apartment in Margate. Designed in a chic, boutique-style manner, the whole space feels brilliantly modern while retaining a sense of vintage charm that so aptly reflects Margate’s seaside fame. We love the bright living room with its large windows that provide the most spectacular sunset views across the Winter Gardens and out towards the sea, best enjoyed on the sofa with a glass of wine or through the handy telescope provided. Full of fun decorative details that subtly nod to the coast, this space is made for relaxation and easy-going socialising. Our other favourite spot for sea-sighting is in the beautiful master bedroom where an armchair invites you to curl up on it with a good book and enjoy the rolling of the waves from yet another angle. Factor in the sunny kitchen and the sparkling blue and white bathroom and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful coastal break. Outside of your home, you’re just a six-minute walk from the Turner Contemporary art gallery, an eight-minute stroll from the Main Sands beach, while the Dreamland Margate amusement park is fifteen minutes on foot from your door.

Located just a two-minute saunter from Viking Bay, this home is as close to the beach as you can get without getting your toes sandy. Interiors are bright and funky, with a couple of nautical nods to remind you of your enviable location. Breathe in the salty air from one of two outside spaces – there’s a cosy courtyard with twinkly lights at the back and a dinky patio to the front. When the afternoon comes to an end, tuck into a fish supper in the living space or take it to the seafront for a sweeping coastal sunset. Wet your whistle at any one of a number of pubs and bars along the High Street, a five-minute walk away, or tuck into creamy gelato at Morelli’s famous parlour – it’s only 250 metres from your doorstep.

This charming cottage sits on a chalk headland within the grounds of a lighthouse above Broadstairs. You'll be glad to know this lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so there'll be no jumping out of your skin. You may leap for joy, though, when you see the shared one-acre lawned garden and patio (all set well away from the cliffs, so the property is child-friendly too). Inside the home, there are some lovely views from upstairs, but we'd say the kitchen is quite narrow in areas, though it's well-equipped. Or if you prefer to eat out, there's a pub within a ten-minute stroll. Nearby, Broadstairs has sandy beaches and an old town to explore too.

Mesmerising sea views are what steal the show at this fabulously located Margate apartment. Any closer to the water and you'd be swimming in it – at least, that's how it feels from the comfy seats in the big bay window. It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and watch the tides change – or, if you're in town on business, you'll find it makes an excellent desk, although, with vistas like that, we'd definitely focus more on the scenery than our work.

As impressive as the panoramas are, they're not the only reason this apartment caught our eye. It's filled with light and boasts sleek, contemporary decoration inspired by the coast. Unwind on the blue sofa after a long walk along the shore, rustle up a hearty meal in the stylish kitchen and, come bedtime, retreat to the cosy bedrooms (two of which face the seaside) and fall asleep to the gentle lull of the waves.

As for location, it's as ideal as can be. You're just five minutes on foot from Walpole Tidal Pool, ten from Palm Bay Beach and twenty-two from Margate Main Sands. Northdown Road has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants – it's a ten-minute stroll away – with plenty more eateries and activities to choose from in the centre, also within easy reach.

Stroll through the entrance gate and into the front garden to take in beautiful sea views (there’s a telescope here too for stargazing), then step inside your home where quirky artistic touches create the perfect beach-vibe welcome. From the anchor ornaments to the roaring fireplace and the dining room’s window-side seat that begs to be sat in with a good book, this cottage has been set up to provide a picture-perfect seaside escape. The master bedroom is a delight with its perfectly positioned bed to let you sit up and watch the waves, while the second bedroom’s holiday prints and whitewashed floorboards provide a happy backdrop for a dreamy night’s sleep. With a backyard too equipped with a table and chairs for alfresco meals, there’s no end to the fun and relaxation on offer. When you’re not chilling out at home in your charming cottage, go out and sink your toes in the sand at Kingsgate Bay Beach (a two-minute walk) and Joss Bay (an eight-minute walk) or drive eight minutes to explore Margate and its beach. It's not just the mid-century furniture and muted colour palette in this home that takes influence from the Scandinavians. Once you've finished flitting between the two, you can rest up in the cosy summer house. The host has put together a list of local therapists and this private space is perfect for treatments. Back inside, there's plenty of equipment to keep those particular about their coffee happy, including an espresso machine, milk frother, percolator, grinder and fresh beans from a local roaster. When you're feeling suitably caffeinated, the charming seaside town of Margate is waiting to be explored. The main beach takes about a quarter of an hour to reach on foot, as does the Dreamland Amusement Park, which often hosts concerts, club nights and events.

The design swaps twee coastal curios for sleek, contemporary touches. Some rooms are snug – particularly the lounge when the sofa bed is in use – but it works for short trips. A tasty meal can easily be rustled up in the kitchen, while the tiny courtyard is ideal for a dog to get some fresh air. But the biggest bonus is the rooftop terrace. Accessed through one of the bedrooms, it boasts sea views in the distance and a bar to boot – that's sundowners covered.

Ideally located in the old town, just a two-minute walk from the beach and the Turner Contemporary, this home has the very best of Margate within easy reach. When you’re not strolling along the promenade or perusing the trendy shops, we imagine you’ll be digging into fish and chips on the home’s private patio. Inside, you’ll find a sociable living space for spending quality time together and a kitchen for easy self-catering. If we had to be picky, we’d say the bathroom could do with an update, but everything works as it should.

This period property was built in the style of a South African homestead, so if you’re a fan of unusual features and are looking for a sizeable home, this one’s for you. The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.

Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Get your fill of fresh coastal air at this welcoming cottage in Deal. An idyllic seaside getaway, it has everything you need for a relaxing stay. From its wood floors to its cosy fireplaces and contemporary decor, it’s all set to invite you into its warm and comfortable embrace. The farmhouse-style kitchen is where you’ll want to begin your days over hearty breakfasts and hot cups of coffee before catching some rays in the courtyard garden. Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

We absolutely love how the host's personal style shines through this home, but it's so beautifully done that anyone can appreciate it. It's clear that a lot of love has gone into this, from the wallpapered panels in the cosy living room to the toys in the third bedroom. Even the bathrooms are an interior design marvel. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

You'll love mornings in your bright cottage. For an extra special breakfast, why not take the short two-minute walk to the High Street and pick up pastries from the bakery, maybe even some sausages and bacon from the butchers? Take them back home for a beautiful spread out in the fabulously decorated courtyard, feeling the morning sun on your face as you sip your fresh coffee. Then, when it's time to explore, just walking around the colourful streets of Deal is a treat. You could take the short fifteen-minute walk to Deal Castle before eating classic fish and chips on the beach. Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too.
