This blue bungalow is the perfect getaway for two, with high A-frame ceilings, sand-coloured wooden floors and bright living spaces. We'd describe the aesthetic as contemporary coastal – rattan lighting fixtures, leafy houseplants and plush furnishings bring a beachy bohemian air, while the sleek kitchen and crisp, clean lines are elegant and modern. After a long day on the coast, snuggle up in front of the electric fire for a cosy night at home. If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. With the rest of the White Cliffs Country easily accessed by car, it's the ideal spot for a romantic retreat by the sea.

Have you ever had a bath under the watchful eye of an albino lioness? Well, us neither, but that's about to change because we can't wait to book a stay at this outlandish beachside home. Once inside you'll find it hard to believe this was once a 19th-century fisherman's cottage - the owners have done an extraordinary job transforming in into an East London-style design palace with statement House of Hackney-style wallpaper, taxidermy animals, sculptural lighting and artwork that you'd expect to see in the Saatchi Gallery (we're talking Tracy Emin and Peter Blake originals). But for all the provocative design choices, this home is wonderfully liveable - style has certainly not been prioritised over comfort. In the bedrooms, King-sized beds are perfected with exceptional Egyptian cotton bedding. In the living room, we loved the butter softness of the velvet sofas - they're an absolute dream to relax on. And that zinc bathtub next to the lioness guarantees the most luxurious - and memorable - soak of your life. With so much going on inside it's easy to forget that this home has an unrivalled location right on the beach at Kingsdown (the sea views from the master bedroom are divine), but for an unforgettable beach escape, this dramatic home is impossible to beat.

Set on a sleepy shingle shore on the Kent coast, this modern seaside home is calming and generous. Everyone gets space to breathe over four floors, with outdoor areas and balconies, cinema and games rooms, and en-suite bathrooms (almost) for all. In summer, the beach on the doorstep blooms into a stony carpet of wildflowers. At low tide you can explore rock pools, on clear days you can see France, and on Saturdays, you can cycle an easy fifteen minutes to Deal market for fresh flowers, coffee and a treat or two. There are also three nearby pubs (with the Zetland Arms located right on the beach). Stay put on cooler days with board games, toasty underfloor heating and listen to the sound of the sea or the integrated Sonos speaker system.

We love the 180-degree sea views from this gorgeous apartment housed in a Victorian seafront property in Walmer, Deal. This light and bright home is the perfect place to socialise with your family and friends. The lovely open plan living space with its large dining table is ideal for entertaining – cook up some fresh seafood or let your hosts organise a private chef to cater for you. The soft pink-themed master bedroom, with its roll-top bath and stunning sea views, is a wonderful romantic space – pour a glass of wine and relax. Located on the promenade at Walmer – this home is primed for idyllic days on Deal Castle Beach, just 20 yards away. There's a fish and chip shop a 30-second saunter, while there's a café and pub within a one and three minute wander respectively. For the little ones, Walmer Paddling Pool is a mere two-minute amble. Or take a pleasant seafront walk to Deal (ten minutes on foot) in one direction and Walmer Castle, just over a twenty-minute stroll, in the other.

The rustic style won’t be to everyone’s taste, of course, but we love the sea views, the log burner, and the mini cinema room in the snug – it’s a delightful spot for cosy evenings. When you’re not spending time on the beach, or strolling fifteen minutes to Deal, you’ll likely spend most of your time in the courtyard garden.

Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

This charming home was once a favourite pub for weary fishermen at the end of their shift, right on the pebbles of Kingsdown Beach. If you fancy a real ale or cold pint after a day on the beach, don’t worry, the current local pub is just two doors down. If you want a bit more choice, head to the seafood restaurants and swanky bars of Deal, an hour’s walk along the seaside promenade, or an eight-minute drive.

The home itself is packed with little treats and surprises. There’s the beachside garden out the back, where you can pad barefoot from the outdoor dining terrace straight onto the shingle of Kingsdown Beach for a paddle in the sea. Then there’s the secret sauna, tucked down an old alleyway. The pretty little sunroom is furnished with floral armchairs and a vintage-style radio to listen to the Shipping Forecast while gazing out to sea. We love the kitchen and living room, which is packed with vintage pieces and has the air of an old fisherman’s cottage. Poking about through the extensive vinyl collection and browsing the cookbooks is a particular delight.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

With so much to discover about the rich history and nature of Kent, it would make sense to base yourself in a somewhat historic setting. A twelve-minute walk from Martin Mill train station, in a tiny village of the same name, this home is not only ideal for history buffs, but anyone who is a fan of a tipple. Built in 1610, this traditional boozer hosts locals every evening, but can also play host to four guests in its private apartment. Above this working pub, pick up a pint of English ale to sample before making your way around this striking abode. You’ll find rich leather sofas, vintage upholstered armchairs, a gramophone, Persian rugs, and cabinets and shelves full of curios. A truly unique stay, this home really transports you back hundreds of years, steeped in British tradition and exactly the eclectic vibe you’d hope for. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

We think the host of this home quite clearly has an eye for design. Inside, the living room has been painted a bold shade of teal and the walls have been adorned with an arty selection of colourful prints. Add to this a couple of antique furnishings and a collection of quirky mementoes peppered about the shelves, and you have a lively space that would liven up any Instagram grid. The rest of the home is far simpler in design, although finished to the same high standard — the marble bathroom comes with both a rainfall shower or a bathtub, for instance. The Deal seafront sits two mintues' walk around the corner, while the town's striking circular castle can be reached in seven on foot. The living room is the heart of the house, with its rustic brickwork hearth and a wood-burning stove to spend cosy nights curled up next to. The wooden dining area leads through to the kitchen, and out into an enclosed garden. Here you’ll find a table for alfresco dining in the summer months and a deck chair where you can soak up the sunshine on balmy spring evenings. 

The bedrooms, meanwhile, have characterful nautical touches that echo the neighbouring sea, while the family bathroom is a luxurious space with its rainfall shower and gorgeous freestanding tub – the ideal way to unwind in the evening (a glass of bubbly in hand) after an exciting day by the coast. 

Speaking of venturing out, Deal Seafront and Pier are a stone's throw away, while the nearby High Street invites you to explore its independent boutiques and quirky shops, before stopping in at a local deli or cafe for a bite to eat. Deal Castle is also a short stroll away – built in the shape of a Tudor Rose it's well worth a visit for its rich history and sea views.

Not only is it close to the seafront, beach and pier but it’s got a private  south-facing garden complete with subtropical plants and two seating areas to enjoy. Its indoors are just as tempting too with plenty of bespoke details, including heritage paint, a terrazzo worktop in the kitchen, a cosy wood burner and underfloor heating to keep your toes toasty all year round.   In this eco-conscious household all hand washes and shower gels are refillable, natural and organic. Little ones will enjoy sharing the bunk beds in the third bedroom, while we’re certain grow-ups will relish a soak in the tub – perhaps with a glass of wine – after a busy day spent on the coast.

Steeped in fairytale charm, this stone brick cottage is a gorgeous choice for a family or friends getaway. Tucked away in a vast field, this Victorian home is encircled by whimsical trees with plenty of land to enjoy. 

You'll love the peace and seclusion of this home as much as its quaint interior. It's wonderfully cheerful, with a mix of traditional and modern touches. The stone brick decorative fireplace and patchwork sofa blend harmoniously with the contemporary artwork and funky coffee table. While this home might hold onto its rural Victorian charm, modern preferences brighten up the house beautifully. 

Around the house, the vast gardens provide a setting for familial joy. Nestled between Dover and Ramsgate on the Kent coastline, Deal is often overlooked – but it’s the getaway destination of choice for those in the know. There’s a buzz about the place, with a smattering of intimate wine bars, indie galleries and casual-contemporary restaurants to keep you occupied when you’re not sunning yourself on the beach. Despite its emerging artsy identity, Deal hasn’t lost its seaside charm. You’ll find amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and a Saturday market that has existed since 1699. And your pretty home is less than a ten-minute walk from it all. Inside, it’s bright and comforting, with muted tones and a curated selection of modern and shabby chic furnishings. Out the back, there’s a quiet courtyard with seating area for drinks at sundown and a fire pit to keep you toasty. On wet and windy days, leaf through the kitchen’s recipe books and cook up a warming supper. Retreat to the cosy lounge afterwards, with a warm mug of tea and a slice of the county’s own Canterbury Tart.

Stepping into this cottage immediately makes you feel at home. Exposed wooden beams, soft neutral colours, and cosy furniture give this home an easygoing but cheerful feel. When you enter the ground floor, you'll find the warm living room with an impressive book collection. Pick one out for the trip, perfect for curling up on the sofa or when you're catching some rays on the beach, which is just a seven-minute walk away. The French doors open up to a Juliet balcony, inviting in a beautiful natural light. Breakfasts around the dining table are particularly lovely as the morning light glows over you, not to mention the beautiful garden view you have. 

Steps take you down to the lower ground floor, where you have a twee and colourful kitchen. The patio doors lead out to the enchanting garden, covered in bright foliage. In the warmer months, or whenever if you wrap up warm, the garden is a beautiful place to enjoy meals, drinks, or simply just to sit and enjoy the peace. Despite being just a three-minute walk away from Deal High Street, this home is away from the hustle and bustle and remarkably quiet. Ideal for a quaint seaside getaway. And you're mere steps away from the French deli, perfect for picking up indulgent breakfasts. When it comes to dinnertime, Deal has an array of local and international restaurants right on your doorstep. Or, fire up the barbecue at home for a relaxed evening in.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips.

This period property was built in the style of a South African homestead, so if you’re a fan of unusual features and are looking for a sizeable home, this one’s for you. The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.

Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.
