The seaside theme naturally sweeps through the home with cobalt blue furniture and natural woods, leading to the star of the show, the mural. We love the bright living room with its large windows that provide the most spectacular sunset views across the Winter Gardens and out towards the sea, best enjoyed on the sofa with a glass of wine or through the handy telescope provided. Full of fun decorative details that subtly nod to the coast, this space is made for relaxation and easy-going socialising. Our other favourite spot for sea-sighting is in the beautiful master bedroom where an armchair invites you to curl up on it with a good book and enjoy the rolling of the waves from yet another angle. Factor in the sunny kitchen and the sparkling blue and white bathroom and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful coastal break. Outside of your home, you’re just a six-minute walk from the Turner Contemporary art gallery, an eight-minute stroll from the Main Sands beach, while the Dreamland Margate amusement park is fifteen minutes on foot from your door.

Mesmerising sea views are what steal the show at this fabulously located Margate apartment. Any closer to the water and you'd be swimming in it – at least, that's how it feels from the comfy seats in the big bay window. It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and watch the tides change – or, if you're in town on business, you'll find it makes an excellent desk, although, with vistas like that, we'd definitely focus more on the scenery than our work.

As impressive as the panoramas are, they're not the only reason this apartment caught our eye. It's filled with light and boasts sleek, contemporary decoration inspired by the coast. Unwind on the blue sofa after a long walk along the shore, rustle up a hearty meal in the stylish kitchen and, come bedtime, retreat to the cosy bedrooms (two of which face the seaside) and fall asleep to the gentle lull of the waves.

As for location, it's as ideal as can be. You're just five minutes on foot from Walpole Tidal Pool, ten from Palm Bay Beach and twenty-two from Margate Main Sands. Northdown Road has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants – it's a ten-minute stroll away – with plenty more eateries and activities to choose from in the centre, also within easy reach.

This charming cottage sits on a chalk headland within the grounds of a lighthouse above Broadstairs. You'll be glad to know this lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so there'll be no jumping out of your skin. You may leap for joy, though, when you see the shared one-acre lawned garden and patio (all set well away from the cliffs, so the property is child-friendly too). Inside the home, there are some lovely views from upstairs, but we'd say the kitchen is quite narrow in areas, though it's well-equipped. Or if you prefer to eat out, there's a pub within a ten-minute stroll. Nearby, Broadstairs has sandy beaches and an old town to explore too.

If it's a little chilly, you can still enjoy the vistas from the comfort of the leather sofa or elect to stay in bed and enjoy a slow start to the day.

Plan your afternoon over breakfast at the Ercol dining table and chairs, backed by a large mirrored wall that reflects the already ample daylight into the room. Elsewhere, a chic baby blue kitchen contains all you might need to make homemade meals. However, with everything from fuss-free fish & chips to fine dining to choose from on your doorstep and in nearby Margate, you might not be spending much time in it.

While Margate is a short drive away, we'd suggest taking your time and following the Viking Trail along expansive beaches and steep chalk cliffs all the way to its sheltered harbour. From here, you're perfectly placed to visit the Turner Contemporary and wander the quaint Old Town, where you can take your pick from several outstanding eateries (though we'd recommend booking ahead) before boarding a bus or catching a taxi back to Broadstairs.

Interiors are bright and funky, with a couple of nautical nods to remind you of your enviable location. Breathe in the salty air from one of two outside spaces – there’s a cosy courtyard with twinkly lights at the back and a dinky patio to the front. When the afternoon comes to an end, tuck into a fish supper in the living space or take it to the seafront for a sweeping coastal sunset. Wet your whistle at any one of a number of pubs and bars along the High Street, a five-minute walk away, or tuck into creamy gelato at Morelli’s famous parlour – it’s only 250 metres from your doorstep.

Set in Cliftonville, a smart pocket of the seaside town just a two-minute walk from the seafront promenade, it's easy to see the draw of this neighbourhood.

Grab a coffee to go from one of Cliftonville's buzzy cafes, then mooch along to the fantastic Walpole Tidal Pool (nine minutes away) or a smidge further in the opposite direction, the silk-sanded shores of Margate Beach (eighteen minutes on foot). For a hefty dose of seaside nostalgia, the kitsch amusement park, Margate Dreamland (a twenty-five minutes walk), is just the ticket. Or, for something a little more highbrow, the Turner Contemporary Gallery will do nicely (an eighteen-minute walk). As will the Old Town's wander-worthy lanes –⁠ its vintage shops and happening restaurants is an afternoon well spent.

Back at home, you'll love how quiet this apartment feels, set out across the top two floors of a Victorian property. Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

Steeped in fairytale charm, this stone brick cottage is a gorgeous choice for a family or friends getaway. Tucked away in a vast field, this Victorian home is encircled by whimsical trees with plenty of land to enjoy.

The house is colourful and comfortable, equipped with everything you might need – though, at full occupancy, two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room.

Part of a grand Victorian building positioned next to a square from the same era, the apartment benefits from period features such as the ornamental fireplace and a big bay window that lets in ample amounts of natural light into the living room. It also means that it's possible to see the coastline from the dining table. The furnishings fit into the current trend for mid-century influences, while the kitchen and bathroom are each dazzlingly white. If the sunshine makes an appearance, you can walk fifteen minutes to Margate's main beach or Walpole Tidal Pool, and go for a dip. When it's raining, why not head to the Turner Contemporary art gallery instead?

We recommend hiring a car here – there's an array of friendly pubs and eateries an easy drive away, plus Kingsdown beach, and golf courses. Inside this home you'll find dedicated desks, a PC, and a stocked bookshelf up on the mezzanine level, perfect as a workspace or play area for children. The underfloor heating throughout is a small but luxurious touch, and the super king bed can become twin beds on request, great for families.

Quite fittingly for a home around five minutes' walk from Herne Bay's coastline, this home is slightly reminiscent of a beach shack. Admittedly, it's a lot bigger than the much-coveted huts you'll see in the local area, but the weathered timber around the fireplace, the bright white walls and the large double doors that open up to let the sea air blow through the space help create the laidback feel. Outside, there's a small yard complete with a picnic table for when you fancy an alfresco supper, but there are several seafront restaurants on Central Parade a couple of minutes away on foot, as well as plenty more on the High Street in the other direction. A lovely walking route through The Downs starts five minutes' walk from the front door, too.

This period property was built in the style of a South African homestead, so if you’re a fan of unusual features and are looking for a sizeable home, this one’s for you. The ground-floor annex is perfect for grandparents, and the children’s playroom and enclosed garden ensure that kids will love it too. With just four bathrooms for a large group, you might find yourself waiting a while in the mornings – and the bathrooms are showing some signs of wear and tear. This is a lived-in – and loved – family home, so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes. The pebble beach of Sandwich Bay is just 0.2 miles away though, and golfers will enjoy being so close to two golf courses.

Mosey around Deal High Street’s eclectic blend of shops (eight minutes) and take a day to visit Margate, a thirty-minute drive away. After whiling away your hours soaking up the sea air, come back home for sunset drinks in the garden. Then finish the night off with a relaxing soak in the freeform tub before retreating to your bedrooms for a blissful night’s sleep.

Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Tucked away on a quiet pedestrianised lane just off the winding streets of Deal, the flower-adorned way to the front door will feel like a hug for your soul.
