The farmhouse is in a quiet countryside setting, so you can really relax and unwind. Days out might include a trip to the seaside at Cromer, which is a twenty-minute drive, or a walk to Bryant’s Heath and back – the path passes the church in the village and takes thirty-eight minutes one-way. There are plenty of walking and cycling trails straight from the front door, so you can really work up an appetite before returning for dinner in the stylish dining room.

The exquisitely renovated interior is cosy and welcoming. Hardwood floors, exposed brickwork, and beam-clad ceilings offer a characterful canvas primed for relaxation. We especially love the sitting room with its plush velvet sofas and wood-burning fireplace, not to mention the delightful country-house kitchen, where a spacious dining table offers a lovely space for homecooked feasts with your clan. 

Framed by a grade-two listed stone wall and dense woodland, a private south-facing garden beckons you to feel completely immersed in nature. There's a bedroom on the ground floor, with direct access outside, and the family bathroom is on that level too, while the master and third bedroom are upstairs (the third having a unique, low level window overlooking the dining room). With fifteen acres of land to explore, there are great walks to be had from your doorstep, and here you'll be about twenty minutes by car from Norwich in one direction, and the stunning Norfolk coast in the other.

Spend a day exploring the grounds or spot the local birdlife on a water-trail boat tour on The Broads. The 16th-century rectory, once home to poet William Cowper, was replaced in 1852 by Rev Barry, brother of the Parliament architect. There’s a beautiful garden with a west-facing terrace for summer barbecues, a childproofed pond, and an outdoor tennis court. Although the Norfolk coastline is only half an hour's drive away, you don't even have to get in the car if you fancy a refreshing dip while staying here. Out in the garden, a heated swimming pool will be the place to play and relax all throughout the summer months.

When the British weather has other ideas, however, there's plenty to like about the home's interior, too. The long living room benefits from big windows at either end so there's plenty of natural light, while the kitchen is both generous with surface space and finished in a fetching shade of mint green.

In the local area, there are distractions to appeal to guests of all persuasions. BeWILDerwood theme park takes seven minutes to reach in the car, while Wroxham Barns is a twelve-minute drive away. There's no shortage of walking routes and watersports opportunities in the surrounding Norfolk Broads as well.

Dating back as far as the 1470s when Sir James Hobart (a confidante of Henry VII) built a family estate, This home is one of the most spectacular places we’ve ever seen and truly perfect for family gatherings, breaks away with friends, weddings, and more. Step into history oozing with the finest luxury afforded to the home's guests, including ample space as, on top of the main hall, there’s also the Gatehouse, the Cottage, and the Garden Rooms, as well a separate barn for hosting events, and of course the grounds. The history of this home has been preserved immaculately, while at the same time, modern comforts are around every corner. Either as a gateway to the Broads, or as a destination in itself, you can’t go wrong.

The facilities available at the hall are second to none, with no need or whim uncatered for, including perfectly equipped kitchens, games room, library, a wealth of entertainment, cosy open fires and woodburners, lawns and meadows, and even a moat, and should you wish to prize yourself away from this phenomenal home and head on out to explore, the bustling seaside town of Great Yarmouth is just a twenty-seven-minute drive away, while the Norwich city centre can be reached in twenty-two minutes by car, and is perfect for those shopping needs. We highly recommend trying out the cosy pubs around the area for a good pint and perfect company.

Cosy and charming, this chocolate box cottage dates back to 1714 and is absolutely brimming with traditional character. Original fireplaces and bread ovens, exposed brick walls and wooden beams – no wonder it's Grade II-listed. And, surprisingly, it's super roomy, with multiple living spaces, a high-spec kitchen and a small conservatory that's the perfect spot to sip a cup of tea in the sunshine. After rustling up dinner in the country kitchen (which is has everything you'll need to cook), sprawl out on the squishy leather sofas for a movie night – there's Prime, Netflix and Disney+, so you'll have plenty of options. On summer days, take your relaxing out into the enclosed garden, nursing a glass of wine or firing up the barbecue as the kids (and dogs) let loose in the fresh air.

Nestled in Salhouse in the idyllic Norfolk Broads, this area calls for long walks through the beautiful countryside and boat rides down the River Bure. There are two fantastic village pubs and a quaint tea room within walking distance, plus many more along the water in the Broads. It's a twenty-five-minute drive to Caister-on-Sea if you fancy a beach day, and fifteen to Norwich when you crave a bit more pace. All in all, this is a lovely spot for the whole family to unwind and recharge.

The Warmth of Spring

This converted mill is a dreamy place to while away a few days. Nestled in the rolling Norfolk countryside, it's the perfect place to begin your adventures in this lovely corner of England. 

There are 200 years of history steeped in this wonderful home, and you'll find period details everywhere, from the brickwork to the beamed ceilings. The unique layout, with its gallery study overlooking the main living space, just adds to the charm. Catch up on some work at the desk, or select a novel from the collection and curl up beside the roaring log fire to get toasty. And, on warm days, you can head out to the garden for a game of table tennis, or simply sip a glass of wine on the terrace as you gaze out at the water below. 

From here, walkers and cyclists can hit the trails to explore – or, hire a boat and glide through the landscapes. History buffs will be intrigued by the Whitwell & Reepham Railway Station, just a fifteen-minute walk away from the home. And, if you fancy a day at the seaside, you can drive over to Cromer in around thirty-five minutes to hit the beach.

This baby blue timber lodge is just as cute on the inside as it is on the outside. As well as having all the essentials for a romantic getaway, there are house plants, colourful pieces of artwork and a turquoise accent wall to give the place a bit of character without overdoing it — one of the hosts is an interior designer, can't you tell? Out through the glass door, there's a large garden with a cosy seating area at the far end and plenty of potted plants dotted about. You'll find that there's a real sense of peace here. The local village of Banningham is small — albeit with a well-recommended gastropub — and there are plenty of outdoor excursions to fill your days with nearby. The birthplace of Anne Boleyn, Blickling Estate, takes ten minutes to reach in the car, while Cromer Beach is a seventeen-minute drive away, too.

Watch the sunset in the evenings from the alcove sofa in the dining room with a book as you sink into the comfy cushions – you may spot the local birds flying to their nests as the amber glow closes in. 

The city centre of Norwich is only a twenty–two–minute drive away and is filled to the brim with eateries, shops to browse, and charming pubs to while the hours away as a family. Bracon Ash is a short walk away with a wonderful playground for the children as you tuck into a light bite under the sun – or a tasty homemade picnic.

There are too many good things about The Hobart Spring to list, but suffice to say that it’s every bit as good as it looks. Most of the buildings date to the 1470s, when Sir James Hobart (later attorney general to the king) built his family home. Our favourite room (not an easy decision) is the kitchen, which looks beautifully traditional, but alongside the Aga, has an electric oven, gas hob, espresso machine and more. You can also pick herbs from the raised beds in the back. Either as a gateway to the Broads, or as a destination in itself, you can’t go wrong.

With a sprawling garden, tree house and a games room that kids will approve of, this Norwich cottage is a solid option for family holidays. Norwich is a short drive away, and a few beaches dotted along the coast lies within driving distance.

From arranging private catering to archery lessons and more, your hosts are keen to ensure you are well looked after. There’s also a tennis court with rackets and balls for guests to use, a wonderful outdoor hot tub, secure bike storage and over thirty acres of beautiful countryside to explore. Thanks to the patios courtyard, guests can enjoy romantic outdoor dining at the long table on a summer’s evening. On rainier days, make yourself at home in the Moroccan-style summer house and gaze out into the garden with its picturesque pond. 

Inside, the barn is just as impressive as its surroundings. Eclectic decor – willow-pattern plates on the wall, a Moroccan bathroom, and all manner of vintage contraptions like typewriters, cameras and even haridryers adorning the rooms – bring the place to life. Beautifully presented rooms with hardwood floors and timber-beamed ceilings, make this spacious home feel like a quirky, modern farmhouse. The sitting room is like a conservatory, with its wall of glass, and plush tufted sofas are lit by theatre spotlights. The kitchen is country-chic with a four-door Aga for rustic-style cooking and the dining table can host group banquets.  

You’re in the heart of the Norfolk countryside here, with walking trails and rolling scenery on your doorstep. Though if you do want a day trip to the city, Norwich is a forty-minute drive.
