Stay in an elegant country house with this apartment near Beadnell Bay. It has all the character you’d expect such as tall shuttered windows, a handmade kitchen and a roaring open fire for when the weather turns colder. That's not to say it's without modern comforts – there's underfloor heating here to keep your toes toasty. The main highlight, we’d say though, is the fact that it’s just a ten-minute walk from the beach. Beadnell Bay's long stretch of sand is perfect for bucket-and-spade holidays, while the locale also boasts many coastal walks with stunning views of cliff-top ruins, including Dunstanburgh Castle.

This home is the perfect retreat for those looking for functional and comfortable living by the sea. The living area is bright and spacious, with doors leading to a furnished deck – the ideal spot to enjoy a fish supper. Views of the coast are enjoyed from two of the bedrooms and the front patio, but if you’d like to get a closer look, Beadnell Haven is around a ten-minute walk away. With water sports available locally, as well as numerous castles to explore in Northumberland, this place has something for everyone.

When we say you’re footsteps from the beach here, we mean it. A stone staircase leads directly from this home to the soft sand of Smuggler’s Bay, so you’ve got beach days at your fingertips. Plus, you’re in the charming village of Beadnell, where there’s a convenience store, cosy pub and a bistro for a more formal dinner.

The home itself is like the beach houses of New England, with an atrium-style glass front showing off that direct sea view. The outdoors is set up to enjoy the sound of the waves with a hammock, outdoor dining and seating on the balcony too. There are two living areas to choose from inside – the light-filled lounge on the first floor leading to the balcony, or the leather seats in the open-plan living area downstairs. The dining area opens out onto the terrace and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering. We love the decor inside, rich dark wood and blue to reflect your seaside locale.
