It invites guests to immerse themselves into coziness, catering to every whim within its elegantly designed living area, fully-equipped kitchen, dining portion and snug bedroom. The attached shower room has a tranquil aura that invigorates any weary individual. A fenced, aromatic bark-dusted expanse adjoins the frontal facade of the lodge, further adding to the charm.

Alnwick Haven

A perfect getaway for two, this cottage delivers on all fronts. It's bright and contemporary, but the vaulted ceilings and exposed beams add a rustic touch that suits the surrounding landscape. Inside, a light-filled living area opens onto a gorgeous patio. Sipping champagne as the sun goes down will become your evening ritual – keep an eye out for wild rabbits and rare birds flying overhead. The kitchen is on the smaller side, but it's well-stocked and well-suited to rustling up delicious breakfasts and other light meals. We also adore the sleigh bed – it's as comfortable as it looks, and nothing beats sinking into the plush sheets after a day of exploring. Speaking of exploring, you're only a five-minute drive from Alnwick, a charming market town with a famous castle. Roam the cobbled streets lined with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, then head up to the castle for a history lesson or wander the gardens. Drive ten minutes in the opposite direction and you'll hit the Northumberland coast – both Boulmer and Alnmouth are great options if you fancy a day by the seaside.

Listen To The Wind

Situated right on the water in Northumberland, a few miles from Bamburgh, this home is a great place to stay if you’re looking to explore the North Sea Coast. Inside, you’ll find a stylish kitchen and living area, while outside, there’s a private garden, where you can spend time relaxing in the sun or dining al fresco. When you’re not embarking on coastal walks, stroll over to the centre of Beadnell to spot fishing boats at the waterfront. This historic village leads onto Beadnell Bay, where visitors can go scuba diving, surfing and sailing – although you might want to wait until the warmer months. Look out for little tern, as a colony of national importance resides here, as do Arctic tern.

This single-level home is a great option for those with limited mobility, with an accessible en-suite bedroom and ramps to the private garden. The designs here are a little dated, so they might not suit everyone’s tastes. However, the farmhouse-style kitchen, complete with an AGA, sets the stage for family meals, while the bright conservatory is a perfect spot for afternoon tea.

The ground floor welcomes you with a bright and inviting sitting room, with large window lighting up the modern, tastefully decorated home - a perfect spot to unwind after your day's adventures. Ascending to the first floor, you'll find a well-equipped, fitted kitchen and a spacious dining area complete with comfortable sofas. Sharing the ground floor with the open plan kitchen and dining area, there's a host of area to dine and relax. Upstairs you'll find another rest area, with a pull out pool table and seating for added comforts, off the landing area to the bedrooms, two double rooms and two twin rooms, in addition to one of two bathrooms.

Unwind Manor

Situated in a Grade II-listed building dating back to 1878, we can't help but swoon over this Alnwick apartment. It doesn't lack character, that's for sure – vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and antique knick-knacks like typewriters and old books are in abundance. We think it's the perfect blend of old and new, and nowhere is a better example of that than the open-plan living area. Bright and roomy, there's more than enough space here to spread out and get comfortable, whether you're tucking into a feast around the table or snuggling up in front of the fire. Cooking is anything but a chore in the glossy kitchen, and on rainy days, head up to the mezzanine for board games and billiards. There's also a communal garden for the summer months, where you can sip tea in the sunshine or cocktails at twilight.

And the location is excellent, too. Alnwick is as charming as they come, sprinkled with history and magic – no wonder they filmed Harry Potter here. Spend afternoons wandering down the cobbled lanes, popping in and out of the independent shops, cafes and bookstores that line the high street. The famous Alnwick Castle is just a short walk away, while the Northumberland coast is a thirteen-minute drive. In the evenings, forgo the home-cooking for a pint, delicious pub grub and live music at one of the cosy inns in town.

Watching the Wheels

Castaway and escape the outside world at this picture-perfect period cottage squirrelled away on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, just a few miles off the Northumberland coast. Cut off twice daily from the mainland with the fast-moving tides of the North Sea, the island has a truly magical feel. When thoughts turn to food, there's everything you could need to rustle up a bite to eat in the shaker-style kitchen – or skip cooking and head to the local pub, just a few minute's walk from your door. 

When it's time to say adieu, leaving this island haven is easier than you'd think. Time the tides right, and you'll be over the causeway and back on dry land in no time – the main Northumberland coast is just a few miles away.
