We're pretty sure that you won't find many cottages cuter than this. Built at the backend of the eighteenth century, this traditional weaver's house is Grade-II listed and you can see why. Inside, the wooden ceiling beams, exposed brickwork and stable door are full of rustic charm, while a log-burning fire and antique furnishings add an extra level of cosiness. To the side of the home, there's a patio area complete with alfresco seating where you can enjoy a coffee and the surrounding tranquillity of West Yorkshire. Fans of Last of the Summer Wine — one of the longest-running sitcoms in the world — will love walking around the local town of Holmfirth where it was filmed. The Peak District is only a ten-minute drive away too if you're in the mood for a long ramble.

Thoughtfully designed by the owners who have put their personal stamp on the stunning interiors, there's plenty of space for groups to socialise – both indoors and out. The high-end kitchen is perfectly equipped for cooking family feasts, plus there's a smaller on the other side of that house that's perfect for whipping up a quick snack. Each bedroom is unique and they all come with spectacular bathrooms, ideal for relaxing after long walks or getting ready for a slap-up meal in town. You'd be forgiven for thinking you're in the middle of the countryside but here you'll be just a short walk away from the city of Ripon, with its endless places to eat, drink and shop. And being right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales means keen walkers and cyclists will love it here too.

Instead of topiaried hedges and regimented flowerbeds you’ll find wildflower meadows, wild moorland and forests alive with wildlife. Our favourite spot has to be the dedicated playroom, or “kid’s cave” where bunting and hand-written notes cover the walls and there’s a big activity table to keep little hands occupied for hours. Overlooking the clear waters of a deep lake that's famous for its scuba diving and open water swimming, this charming home is a real find. Built on the edge of the former quarry, it's one of only a handful of lodge-style homes in this exclusive spot. It's bound to appeal to lovers of the great outdoors, with walking and cycling routes nearby, and it's just a stone's throw from the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. It's set in a private lane, and while we love the stylish, modern interiors, we couldn't get enough of the lake views from the terrace. With a private hot tub to sink into and a fire pit, it's the perfect spot as the sun sets. Inside, there's a contemporary fireplace and a huge TV, so getting cosy shouldn't be a problem, and we love the sociable, open-plan layout. You can cook in the fabulous kitchen and eat at the dining table – perhaps with the bi-fold doors open. Here you'll be just a twenty-five-minute drive from Lancaster and Morecombe, with the little village of Over Kellet just down the road. It's just fifteen minutes by car to the vast beaches of nearby Morecombe Bay.

Within a mile of Sheffield's city centre, this contemporary home makes a good base for your adventures. Broomhall is home to tree-lined streets, coffee shops and pubs, two universities, and Sheffield Botanical Gardens. It's quiet yet still close to all the action. Back home, you can enjoy sunny days in the private garden or spend chilly evenings getting cosy in the living area. In addition to the three comfortable bedrooms, the lounge features a sofa bed for one guest. Desks are available for digital nomads, a sleek kitchen is ideal for home chefs, and pets are welcome to tag along for a fee.

With an elevated position, this apartment has wonderful views over the golf course and Morecambe Bay. The home is housed in a historic building dating from 1897, so as you'd expect, this home has character features such as double-height vaulted ceilings. We love the mezzanine games room with its pool table, and there's plenty of room to entertain your family and friends. There's a claw-footed bath in the main bedroom's en-suite, too, perfect for a soak after a stroll around the estate's 4 acres of grounds. There's also a shared barbecue area with tables and chairs – ideal for warm summer evenings. Other attractions nearby include the Brown Robin Nature Reserve and the town of Grange-over-Sands.

Looking at this stunning home, it's hard to believe that it was once a coach house. This is a testament to the hard work and creativity that went into the recent renovation. The newly converted interior belongs in the pages of a glossy magazine, with huge windows on the extension letting in copious amounts of natural daylight and a sleek kitchen that will have keen chefs eager to start cooking. A gorgeous island in the middle makes it a sociable space to gather around and clink glasses. In the living room, bursts of colour come from a beautifully soft corner sofa in royal blue and artwork hanging on the walls curated by local artist David Stead. From here, you'll be able to see the expansive gardens, which come complete with a barbecue and an alfresco dining area — you can almost hear the sound of Pimm's being poured out already. The prime location in North Yorkshire means that you won't be short of inspiration for days out. You can walk to Ripon Cathedral in just over a quarter of an hour, while the Nidderdale AONB can be reached in ten minutes by car for when you fancy a longer ramble.

This detached barn conversion is located in a quiet hamlet and offers panoramic views over the Cumbrian countryside. Outside, there’s a decked area for lunches in the sunshine and an enclosed garden for four-legged friends. Inside, the living area is kept warm with a wood-burning stove. If we had to be picky, we’d say the bathroom could do with a refresh, though it functions fine. The Cambrian Way passes by the front of the home, making the place ideal for walkers. Plus, the bustling market town of Ulverston, which holds a twice-weekly market, is a ten-minute drive away.

Chestnut Barn

Over 170 years old, this cottage awaits in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. While the scenic countryside abounds, Hawes puts market-town amenities on your doorstep. There's a small seating area on the patio for a sunset tipple, but we especially love the cosy interior. You'll receive a free bundle of logs for the fire, too. But remember to mind your head on the low beams. What's more, pets are welcome to stay, though they can't jump on the furniture or leave pawprints upstairs.
