For those who like to like to get out into nature, a ramble through the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is in order – it’ll take you around an hour to get there by car. Culture buffs should make the twenty-minute drive into historic York for its ancient Minster and medieval Shambles. Finish the afternoon with a well-earned gin and tonic beside the pretty River Ouse.

Recently refurbished, there's a bit of a natural connection going on in the interior design of this home in the village of Stamford Bridge. As well as house plants dotted liberally about the place — often in unique pots — we spotted an array of woven furnishings and artwork dedicated to the great outdoors. We should also mention the actual outdoors space at this point, too. Step out the back door and you'll find a patio with alfresco seating and a barbecue, which will both come into their own on summer evenings. This overarching theme feels apt given the beautiful countryside within easy reach of the property. The charming Fairy Sanctuary attraction at Northwood Trail is only eighteen minutes away on foot, while the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty takes about the same amount of time in the car. If you fancy a day in town, however, the centre of York is only a twenty-five-minute drive.

We're pretty sure that you won't find many cottages cuter than this. Built at the backend of the eighteenth century, this traditional weaver's house is Grade-II listed and you can see why. Inside, the wooden ceiling beams, exposed brickwork and stable door are full of rustic charm, while a log-burning fire and antique furnishings add an extra level of cosiness. To the side of the home, there's a patio area complete with alfresco seating where you can enjoy a coffee and the surrounding tranquillity of West Yorkshire. Fans of Last of the Summer Wine — one of the longest-running sitcoms in the world — will love walking around the local town of Holmfirth where it was filmed. The Peak District is only a ten-minute drive away too if you're in the mood for a long ramble.

This home in Egton is the perfect compromise between seclusion and a beach holiday. With only six miles separating you from the seaside town of Whitby, you can easily take a quick road trip to spend the day on the sandy shores of West Cliff beach. Whilst there, be sure to walk the promenade for a gorgeous view of the Church of Saint Mary and try your hand at the claw machine in the pier arcade. After a lunch of fresh seafood, head to the Whitby Abbey, a fourteen-minute walk from Whitby Beach, to visit the renowned ruins that inspired Bram Stoker’s gothic novel Dracula.
