Although this Pembrokeshire apartment underwent a recent renovation, one thing that hasn't changed is just how peaceful the view from the balcony is, with the unmistakably blue waters of Carmarthen Bay peering through the trees. It may not be the biggest outdoor space in the world, but this seaward orientation makes up for it.

Inside, the glass doors in the main living area are especially generous when it comes to natural light and this dances pleasingly off the wooden floors and white walls. When it comes to the design, it's a pretty simple affair with only a few pieces of coastal artwork nodding to the location, but it's all been executed pretty well, particularly the sleek kitchen and bathroom.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, the centre of Saundersfoot and its beach is all of five mintues' walk from the front door. The town of Tenby is also only ten minutes' drive down the coastline and offers visitors a castle and a selection of galleries to visit.

Drift away in the warm bubbles while contemplating the scenery of the rolling countryside. It’s a scenic 40-minute walk into the village of Wiseman’s Bridge, or fetch your towel, bathing suit and other paraphernalia to make the ten-minute drive down to the glorious Pembrokeshire coastline and its award-winning beaches.

Of course, you need to work up an appetite first and there are plenty of ways to do just that in the local area. Saundersfoot Beach takes less than ten minutes to reach on foot, while the myriad attractions in the seaside town of Tenby lie the same amount of time away by car.

Tenby's sprawling beaches are also ten minutes away by car – safe to say, this is an excellent spot for an escape to the coast.

Set above the sea, a three-minute walk to North Beach, this stylish home is perfectly positioned for exploring the heart of Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coast. Inside, there’s an open-plan living space with a moody blue and grey colour scheme, creating a sophisticated yet cosy feel. We particularly loved the subtle nautical nods and funky artwork. On chilly days, warm your toes by the fire or sip a mug of hot tea by the enormous bay windows, watching as the waves break on the shore. Cook up your favourite dinners in the flash kitchenette – but not before you’ve sampled fish and chips from D.Fecci and Sons on lower Frog Street, some of the best in town. When the sun shines, make a beeline for the placid waters of Castle Beach and explore Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, the oldest of its kind in Wales. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, it’s an hour’s amble to Saundersfoot.

A ten-minute drive away is Telpyn Beach, but just a little further is Tenby, home to pretty pastel houses, narrow lanes lined with boutiques and pubs, and not to mention the five award-winning beaches. As far as locales go, it's pretty ideal – close to the seaside, yet tucked away in the countryside for extra tranquillity. And the views from this home aren't bad, either. Stretching out over the countryside and towards the sea, the best place to take it all in is the private hot tub. Pour yourself a glass of wine and sink into the bubbling waters, watching as the sun slowly sets and the stars come out. Inside is cosy and warm, with a comfortable living area and a sleek kitchen that makes cooking up a storm easy. Everything is on the ground floor, so it's very accessible – the en-suite in the main bedroom even has a roll-in shower, support aids and emergency pull cords. We think a family would be pleased to call this place home during a stay on the Welsh coast.

A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.

During the winter, the cosy seating in front of the fireplace will be calling your name. The open-plan set-up of the home creates a sociable space for the whole group to come together. Meanwhile, the roomy bedrooms and bathrooms offer guests plenty of space for those ever-craved moments of solitude.

Overlooking the quaint harbour, this waterfront apartment puts you at the heart of some of Tenby's favourite spots. Stroll to the sleepy seaside town's restaurants and boutique shops, or walk to Tenby North Beach in under ten minutes. The interiors are a little dated, but the home is well-kept, cosy and equipped with most of what you'll need for a comfortable stay – though you'll have to bring your own towels. With views and a central location, this home does well for itself, and the compact balcony is a nice bonus, especially for a nightcap.

As you look around this home, it becomes clear very quickly that it has been designed to make the most of the beautiful coastal scenery in which this part of south Wales really specialises. In the living room, huge bi-fold doors open up to Juliet balconies that gaze out over Tenby's South Beach, while in the bedrooms there are further balconies, only this time with a view of Caldy Island. With such glorious panoramas, you could be forgiven for not really paying the interior much attention, but when you do get around to it, you'll find a modern space that's simple but effective — we're fans of the minimalist white kitchen, in particular. As you can probably imagine when looking out the window, the beach isn't too far away — just five minutes' walk, in fact. Tenby Castle can be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot, too.

The inside of the home has the feel of a secluded forest cabin, thanks to the wooden ceilings, floors and walls. However, the smart design of the address means it can adapt to the seasons — there's underfloor heating for the colder months and glass doors leading out to a balcony for when the sun makes an appearance. When the weather does look bright, Tenby's South Beach can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot, while the town of Penally can be reached in twenty.
