Enjoy a spot of shopping in Haverfordwest – a lovely twenty-five minute walk, or five minutes by car if you’re in a hurry – and sit down to enjoy lunch at one of the local pubs. There’s also a town museum if you’re interested in learning of the county's roots. 

After a long day on your feet you can retreat to this little stone cottage where you’ll be met by a neutral colour palette that benefits from the skylights in the vaulted ceiling. Some of the original features, especially visible in the facade, remain from its days as a traditional stone barn. When the sun shines, make a beeline for the placid waters of Castle Beach and explore Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, the oldest of its kind in Wales. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, it’s an hour’s amble to Saundersfoot.

Tucked away in the pretty village of Ludchurch and surrounded by glorious Pembrokeshire countryside, this home is a haven of tranquillity. As a former barn, this home retains much of its rustic charm with exposed beams and high vaulted ceilings, but don’t worry, there are no creaky areas or draughty spaces here. The rooms have all the modern comforts you could ask for – a cosy log burner, soft furnishings, WiFi and underfloor heating throughout. The open-plan living area is wonderfully spacious, uncluttered and awash with natural light. If the weather is good you’ll want to push open the patio doors and breathe in the countryside views. The garden has a serene summerhouse, but the best place to absorb the peaceful surroundings is from the heated hot tub. Drift away in the warm bubbles while contemplating the scenery of the rolling countryside. It’s a scenic 40-minute walk into the village of Wiseman’s Bridge, or fetch your towel, bathing suit and other paraphernalia to make the ten-minute drive down to the glorious Pembrokeshire coastline and its award-winning beaches. 

Sweet Valley Barn

As you look around this home, it becomes clear very quickly that it has been designed to make the most of the beautiful coastal scenery in which this part of south Wales really specialises. In the living room, huge bi-fold doors open up to Juliet balconies that gaze out over Tenby's South Beach, while in the bedrooms there are further balconies, only this time with a view of Caldy Island. With such glorious panoramas, you could be forgiven for not really paying the interior much attention, but when you do get around to it, you'll find a modern space that's simple but effective — we're fans of the minimalist white kitchen, in particular. As you can probably imagine when looking out the window, the beach isn't too far away — just five minutes' walk, in fact. Tenby Castle can be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot, too.

Welsh Cake

You’ll find this house located in Narberth, just a five-minute walk from the town centre. Two living areas mean there's plenty of space for the group to stretch out. There’s a selection of books and board games for rainy days, but when the sun’s shining, take advantage of the barbecue in the fenced back garden. While the kitchen is fully equipped, we recommend trying out the nearby pubs and restaurants. And when you’re ready to explore the coast, Telpyn Beach is around a fifteen-minute drive away.

Lazy Days

If you're looking for a seaside spot boasting tons of personality and within walking distance from the beach, then this quirky cottage will tick all of your boxes. From the outside, the home appears historically quaint in true cottage style. On the inside, however, modern and stylish interiors give way to a light and airy space packed with colour and home comforts. Stretch out on the purple couch while you sip a morning coffee before cooking up a delicious breakfast that gets the whole group ready for a day on the beach. Located just a ten-minute walk away from Saundersfoot Beach and the village, enjoy walks along the long sandy bay and working harbour which offers boat trips and excursions to make the most of during the summer months. After soaking up the sea air, you'll feel warm and fuzzy inside at the thought of return back to the cottage for an evening of relaxation in the spa-like bathtub and cosy corner in the living room. 

Laughing Seagull

Overlooking the quaint harbour, this waterfront apartment puts you at the heart of some of Tenby's favourite spots. Stroll to the sleepy seaside town's restaurants and boutique shops, or walk to Tenby North Beach in under ten minutes. The interiors are a little dated, but the home is well-kept, cosy and equipped with most of what you'll need for a comfortable stay – though you'll have to bring your own towels. With views and a central location, this home does well for itself, and the compact balcony is a nice bonus, especially for a nightcap.

Harbour Moon

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.
