Only a two-minute walk from the award-winning South Beach, this home is primely located for a visit to Tenby. Offering spectacular views of South Beach all the way towards Caldey Island, this luxury apartment has an open-plan living area at its heart. Unwind in the large sitting area while the chef of the group enjoys plenty of counter space in the kitchen. Large French doors open up to the terrace where you can capture stunning panoramic coastal views while soaking in the luxurious hot tub. Each of the bedrooms also have doors that open onto the terrace overlooking the ocean and nearby golf course, where you can get a few swings in when you've clocked in more than enough beach time.

Sweeping beach views from the big bay windows and nautical touches to the decor – there’s no doubt you’re by the sea in this grand apartment. Right on the shorefront in the charming seaside town of Tenby, you can watch the waves roll in and out as you take breakfast at the sunny dining table. The open living area is an opulent medley of high corniced ceilings, bold midnight blue walls and tufted velvet sofas. Quartz-topped and tucked into an old archway, the kitchen is a shining example of modernity amidst the Georgian-style furnishings. If the view isn’t reminder enough, nautical-themed object d’art like a boat’s helm on the hallway wall and coastal pictures in the living room whisper of your seaside locale. Heading outside, the salty air carries with it the promise of ice-cream on the promenade (right on your doorstep) and crabbing at the beach’s rockpools. Boats bobbing in the harbour let you know that the catch of the day is as fresh as they come in Tenby’s myriad seafood restaurants.

Coastal homes don't get much closer to Tenby's iconic North Beach than this, folks. The apartment's location is a knockout, offering direct access to the golden sands and Tenby's high street just a flip-flop away. Housed in a period apartment building, special mention goes to the home's dining area overlooking the sea through the arched windows. And, of course, that impressive outdoor veranda for evening barbecues and sunset drinks. It's the perfect perch to watch the boats come and go into Tenby Harbour.

If being close to the ocean is your priority, this home delivers in spades. Not only is this apartment situated directly across from Tenby's North Beach, but the private patio has breathtaking views of the harbour and beyond. Morning, noon or night, there's no better spot to sit and relax, listening to the crash of the waves, observing the boats and watching the sun sink over the water. It's pure bliss, as far as we're concerned, and it's made even better by the sleek interior awaiting you in the living area. There are fun nautical elements dotted about, yet even with the seaside motif, the design never feels passe. In fact, we think the whole thing is rather smart, with a dark blue kitchen, luxe rainfall showers in the glossy bathrooms and even a wine fridge for your bottles of bubbly. When you're not at home soaking up the view or lounging on the sofa, spend your time wandering through Tenby's walled centre, admiring the colourful houses, browsing the local boutiques and dining at the many delicious eateries. And with five beaches to tickle your fancy, you'll have plenty of options when it comes to sprawling in the sand. Our favourite is Castle Beach, a five-minute walk away.

Occupying an enviable spot, just a two-minute walk from South Beach and five minutes from the bustling High Street, this modern apartment has the very best of Tenby within easy reach. Inside the home, it’s modern and fresh with bifold doors in the living space that flood the place with light and a fully-equipped kitchen that makes rustling up your favourite dinners a cinch. In the bedrooms, it’s all soothing blue and grey tones and the sumptuous beds guarantee a blissful night’s sleep.

Start your mornings with a coffee on the terrace before throwing on your sun hat and taking the ten-minute stroll to the popular Castle Beach for a paddle in the shallows. If hunger strikes, there are a number of cosy cafes and gourmet seafood restaurants scattered across town. After a good feasting, enjoy a ramble along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, just five minutes from your doorstep, or for something a little different, take the twenty-minute boat trip over to the holy Caldey Island.

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.

Set above the sea, a three-minute walk to North Beach, this stylish home is perfectly positioned for exploring the heart of Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coast. Inside, there’s an open-plan living space with a moody blue and grey colour scheme, creating a sophisticated yet cosy feel. We particularly loved the subtle nautical nods and funky artwork. On chilly days, warm your toes by the fire or sip a mug of hot tea by the enormous bay windows, watching as the waves break on the shore. Cook up your favourite dinners in the flash kitchenette – but not before you’ve sampled fish and chips from D.Fecci and Sons on lower Frog Street, some of the best in town. When the sun shines, make a beeline for the placid waters of Castle Beach and explore Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, the oldest of its kind in Wales. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, it’s an hour’s amble to Saundersfoot. 

What A Catch

Mornings here would be best spent enjoying a leisurely cuppa and breakfast, seated on the balcony as you overlook the shore. From here, you can take in the breathtaking vistas of golden sandy beaches and rolling waves, with a panorama that even stretches as far as St. Catherine’s Island and Caldey Island.

Spend your days on Tenby's South Beach itself, which is a short walk away, below a promenade and cliffs. Then, when you return home, get comfortable on the sofa or in the armchair to continue admiring the views. Even while you’re cooking dinner at night, you will be able to snatch glimpses of the sea views through the windows.

As you look around this home, it becomes clear very quickly that it has been designed to make the most of the beautiful coastal scenery in which this part of south Wales really specialises. In the living room, huge bi-fold doors open up to Juliet balconies that gaze out over Tenby's South Beach, while in the bedrooms there are further balconies, only this time with a view of Caldy Island. With such glorious panoramas, you could be forgiven for not really paying the interior much attention, but when you do get around to it, you'll find a modern space that's simple but effective — we're fans of the minimalist white kitchen, in particular. As you can probably imagine when looking out the window, the beach isn't too far away — just five minutes' walk, in fact. Tenby Castle can be reached in under a quarter of an hour on foot, too.

The interiors are a little dated, but the home is well-kept, cosy and equipped with most of what you'll need for a comfortable stay – though you'll have to bring your own towels. With views and a central location, this home does well for itself, and the compact balcony is a nice bonus, especially for a nightcap.
