Thanks to the large glass doors and windows, you can enjoy these uninterrupted views even when you're inside – they also bring in a heck of a lot of natural light, too. While the interior has been thoughtfully designed, it’s the outdoor space that takes the cake. The view will take your breath away every time. When it’s time to explore, Falassarna beach and its restaurants are just a short walk away. You can also hop in the car and take the short 9-mile journey to Kissamos for a wider selection, along with exploring its beautiful architecture, lagoons, and port.

From the near-constant cloudless sky to the crystalline Aegean Sea and the shimmering private swimming pool – this place is an ode to the colour blue. Three kilometres away, you’ll find the calm shallows of the nearest sandy beach and the charming town of Chania is a short drive along the coast. Right on your doorstep (within 200 metres), you’ve got cafés, bakeries, tavernas and a mini market to stock up on supplies.

If you’re not cooling off from the Crete sun in the swimming pool, our favourite spot is the table and chairs on the covered veranda, facing a panorama of Crete’s stunning coastline. This is a great spot to dine of an evening. Inside, the home is split between two apartments, each with its own kitchen and living room. On the first floor, the living room is a grand space with marble floor, candelabra and velvety tufted sofas. Two full kitchens across the whole home mean it’s easy to cater for huge group meals and two living rooms give everyone enough space to spread out. The peace and quiet are blissful in bedrooms and each room has its own access to the terrace or a first-floor balcony.

Stylish and warm, this home makes for a splendid base for an adventure on Crete. We love the modern, simple styling of the villa, which allows for the high ceilings and exquisite details to take centre stage. It’s a calm and relaxing place to call home, with everything you might need for a sunny escape. 

Children will love the playground, while grown-ups will likely spend most of their time around the private pool. Swim lengths before lying out on a sun lounger to soak up rays and drink in the wonderful views. If you’re anything like us, you’ll love cooking on the barbecue and feasting outside. The alfresco dining area is lovely and shaded, with far-reaching vistas out to sea. 

When you want to explore further afield, you need only drive five minutes to reach the village of Kolymvari, which boasts a sand and shingle beach as well as some delightful tavernas. Chania is just twenty minutes away, too. 


Dreaming of Crete

Sitting right on the coastline in the resort town of Kolymbari, you couldn't ask for a better view of the Chania Gulf than the uninterrupted panorama enjoyed at this villa. As you might imagine, there are plenty of spots from which to sit and simply take it all in, whether from the first-floor balcony or under the shade of the seafront gazebo.

Against this beautiful backdrop, you're spoilt for ways to pass summer days. The curvy swimming pool will be a faithful companion during the hottest part of the afternoon and there's even an adjoining children's section so little 'uns can join in on the fun. Surrounding this, you'll find loungers on which to soak up some rays, as well as a barbecue and dining table ready and waiting for alfresco feasts.

Although it's certainly a show-stealing outdoor space, we're wowed by the villa's interior, too. Traditional aspects, such as the exposed stonework and terracotta tiles, lend a homely charm, while the large windows let in lots of natural light – as well as looking out to that view. We also like the pair of smartly tiled bathtubs that will sing to those who love nothing more than a long and unrushed sofa, as well as the ping-pong table for the ultra-competitive among the group.

With the sea this close to the house, you probably don't need us to tell you that the beach can be reached in a matter of seconds. In the wider area, you're well served for restaurants and taverns, while the 13th-century Gonia Monastery lies just up the coastline and is well worth a visit. The same can be said for the city of Chania, 23km in the opposite direction.

Bright, modern and a little bit luxurious, this villa is a must for any group wanting to unwind in the Cretan sunshine. Active types will be pleased to know there’s a small gym on the premises, but if relaxing is more your style, make a beeline for the sauna, hot tub or outdoor loungers. The swimming pool can be heated for an additional fee, and the terrace has more than enough space for comfortable alfresco dining. Although it’s tough to tear yourself away, seaside cafes, restaurants and Kolimpari Beach are just a short drive from the home.
