Ostuni is a fifteen-minute drive away, and the beautiful Marina di Torre Guaceto nature reserve is only twenty minutes away – a varied holiday awaits here. The apartment is elegant and full of personality, with a blend of authentic features – including vaulted ceilings, exposed stone, and marble floors – and modern touches. The terrace is a wonderful spot for alfresco dining and sunbathing.

This ancient medieval tower has been restored to welcome couples and solo explorers. Charming and modern, it's worth noting there isn't a kitchen or living space here. Still, you'll find ample seating on the shared terrace and a breakfast buffet, making this a good base. The communal swimming pool and hot tub are also a bonus, but it's the location that really drew us to this spot. Located minutes from beautiful beaches like Torre Santa Sabina, the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, and the historic center of Ostuni, this unlocks another side of Italy.


The Old Tower

This one-bedroom apartment lies in an ancient medieval tower with a number of similar homes. The shared terrace provides space for sitting out and relaxing with an alfresco drink or meal. The communal hydromassage pool is open in the summer months – it's on the smaller side but is great for unwinding away from Carovigno's busy town centre. The kitchen at this home is quite small and the location means there is the potential for some noise from neighbours, but breakfast is provided between May and October and you'll find plenty of fantastic restaurants on your doorstep. You can pay to use a nearby public car park, and it's an easy drive to Ostuni and Brindisi for great days out.

A ten-minute drive from Ostuni, this villa offers a dreamy escape in Puglia. The garden was designed to take advantage of the sunshine. You can work out in the outdoor gym, cool off with a dip in the pool, or tuck into an Italian feast on the terrace. Inside, the ivory hues and natural accents fit in perfectly with Puglia's white-washed towns. Our favourite space is the main bedroom, where a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi bath is the perfect way to end the day. Just note that two bedrooms don't have air conditioning.

Between the olive groves of the Puglian countryside, this villa is a lesson in minimalism and sleek design. An inviting private pool is at the centre of the outdoor space and the dining terrace (with a charcoal barbecue) looks out over ancient olive trees. Accommodation is split between the main building, where you’ll find one of the bedrooms and the sparse living area, kept cool by white stone walls. One of the bedrooms is in its own lamia building and a further bedroom is in the annexe with garden access. It’s a short drive to Ostuni for days wandering the ancient streets, and Brindisi is a short hop in the car.

The home’s neutral palette is sophisticated epitomised while remaining homely and inviting.

Guests absolutely love the privacy of this home, and they’ve noted that something precious particularly sticks out…the silence. Just you, your family, and the acres of olive trees. That is until someone starts blasting some poolside classics on the Bose speaker, but it’s all part of enjoying this beautiful home however you want to. Although secluded, there isn’t a compromise on safety. Groups can enjoy their holiday without having to worry about a single thing - a remote-controlled entry gate, alarm system, security service, and video doorbell ensure complete privacy and safety.

Built in 1877 and renovated in 2017, guests are lucky enough to experience the rustic charm of Southern Italian architecture, complete with local tiles and ancient stone, as well as top-notch kitchen appliances and walk-in showers. The blend of old and new is so effortless. Bask in the sun, dip in the heated pool, and lounge under the stunning cabana, before getting the outdoor, stone barbeque going. The outdoor kitchen is complete with a sink and stove, too. Not to mention an outdoor shower that flows out hot water. There's really not much reason to go inside, but when the kids (and the parents!) need some downtime, you can load Netflix up on the TV. 

Although you feel like the only people in the world, you’re never far from a helping hand. We know that babies and toddlers go through nappies and wipes like nobody’s business, and packing for this can be stressful. Relax knowing that you can request a pre-arrival grocery delivery, so everything is there ready for you. Should you want to, nearby villa staff can pop over to help with more shopping or cleaning up. This is perfect for families that can’t nip out to the shops as easily, you don’t have to lift a finger - it comes to you. In the same vein, access to a nearby private chef adds that extra bit of luxury, ease, and comfort. Especially with children generally eating earlier than the grown-ups (which eats into your precious pool time!), a chef that can whip something up for them, then get to work on a gourmet four-course meal for the adults.

Speaking of activities, we know you might not even want to leave the gorgeous villa, but there is so much to do in the area that your host can arrange. Given the location of this home, nature lovers can also hike through the rolling hills and olive groves.

This traditional stone trullo surrounded by olive groves makes for a memorable stay. The interior is as charming as you’d expect, with arched ceilings and carved spaces to unwind in. While the kitchenette is on the basic side, there’s also an outdoor kitchen to cook up Italian dishes. The bedroom is minimal and comfortable, though the linens are an add-on here. It’s the outside that really caught our attention – with sprawling gardens and sun loungers to soak up the Mediterranean rays. Though there’s no pool here, the outdoor shower offers a refreshing way to cool off – better still, the waters of Torre Guaceto Beach are around a twenty-minute drive away.

For those that want to get in touch with nature, this rebuilt farmer’s shack in the Puglian countryside is the perfect getaway.  Though you’re still just a five-minute drive from the supermarkets, restaurants and winding old streets of San Michele Salentino, and the UNESCO trulli houses of Ostuni are a twenty-minute drive (perfect for a day trip).

It’s all about escaping the everyday and embracing the landscape here. Surrounded by acres of olive groves and fruit orchards, you’ve got a natural larder to play with – perfect for cooking alfresco in the outdoor kitchen. The entire living space is designed to be outdoors, with the lounge sofas sets around a fire pit and the full kitchen shaded by bamboo and looking out into the olive grove. There’s a swimming pool for cooling off, a hammock strung beneath a century-old olive tree and an outdoor shower tucked away too.

The only thing you’ll find inside is the bedroom and bathroom. It’s a world of sleek concrete in here, with a desk should you fancy a spot of writing (there’s no Wifi, it’s time to take it easy). There’s a small sofa should the weather take a turn, and it’s set by the picture-frame window so you can still enjoy a glimpse of the rust-red land. But this place is designed for living outdoors, under the warmth of the southern Italian sun.

This Puglian villa blends modern features with a rural vibe. Though you’ll find a few steps, this home is predominantly spread over level, making it a great option for every guest. There’s lots of light filling the minimal but playful interior, and there’s plenty of space for guests to spread out. While this villa accommodates eight people, we’d suggest the beds are better suited to six adults and two children. We like the bold furnishings on the terrace, but the pool might steal our attention the most here. And when you’re ready to hit the beach, you only need to drive 4km to Spiaggia di Morgicchio.

Just take in the wonderful views of the Adriatic Sea and olive groves from the roof terrace of this home in Puglia. There’s plenty of character inside with its vaulted ceilings and stone steps (these are quite steep, mind). The location here is great, you’ll find a bakery 200 metres away, so that’s breakfast and lunch covered, while there’s a museum 500 metres from here. There’s also the Zagaredde antique market every second Sunday of the month, 900 metres from this home.

We love that both bedrooms open out onto the terrace, so there shouldn't be any quarrels about who has which room (though one has the advantage, it has an en-suite – maybe keep that quiet). When you're ready to explore what the local area offers, head to Ostuni, just 5 kilometres away. Your host also offers a complimentary guided tour of Alberobello (though it's quite a ride from this home).
