There’s plenty of character inside with its vaulted ceilings and stone steps (these are quite steep, mind). The location here is great, you’ll find a bakery 200 metres away, so that’s breakfast and lunch covered, while there’s a museum 500 metres from here. Made up of two separate villas with one large outdoor area, we think it's a great choice for families and friend groups. Located just 4km from the town of Francavilla Fontana, and 15km from Ostuni, known as 'The White City,' this home is situated to explore the region's many wonders.

This ancient, light-stone property in Ostuni offers big groups exclusive use of a B&B in the centre of town. A breakfast buffet is included every day – best enjoyed at the scattering of tables on the sunny terrace – and guests have private use of the small, heated spa pool. Located in a sixteenth-century building in the heart of Ostuni, this functional apartment makes a great base for exploring the historic town. We were big fans of the small industrial kitchenette, while the stone walls and arching brick ceilings speak to the building's history. The living area only being accessible by a ladder isn't exactly convenient, but luckily you'll find plenty of shared spaces within the building – perfect if you're looking to mingle with your fellow guests. And the communal bath area strikes us as ideal for unwinding after a day traversing Ostuni's winding streets.

Just an eight-minute drive from the bustling town centre of Ostuni, this villa is less isolated than it seems. Its countryside setting is a picture-perfect scene of olive trees and native foliage, with a striking structure in the middle. The white, slatted awning of your shaded terrace juts out to the private pool, lined by a honey-coloured drystone wall and a Buddhist statue (ensuring that extra sense of zen).

From this angle, the home looks superbly modern and angular. But from the side, you'll see the trullo at its heart has been given a new lease of life thanks to clever architecture. It’s more apparent in the lounge, where the beautiful stonework remains exposed with rounded archways and alcoves leading off this peaceful space. We love the mix of modern, minimalist furniture with the traditional build – it really lets the home do the talking.

Set in colourful gardens, edged with mellow stone walls, this trullo is a wonderful place to relax. There's a swimming pool, a barbecue for tasty lunches and a shaded dining area. Inside, there's character aplenty, including exposed stone arches and an open fire. We love that both bedrooms open out onto the terrace, so there shouldn't be any quarrels about who has which room (though one has the advantage, it has an en-suite – maybe keep that quiet). When you're ready to explore what the local area offers, head to Ostuni, just 5 kilometres away. Your host also offers a complimentary guided tour of Alberobello (though it's quite a ride from this home).

Hidden amongst olive trees, this villa is a great base for a Puglia adventure. The interior is pleasant, though it lacks natural light in places. And while we loved the exposed brickwork in the living area, one of the beds is here – this might prove inconvenient and makes the home more suitable for families in our eyes. Location-wise, you're well served, because not only is the coast not far away, the charming city of Ostuni is just a 3km drive.

In your own secluded haven, amongst four acres of three hundred olive trees, stands this jaw-dropping villa. Driving up to this characteristically Southern Italian home with its whitewashed walls and stone features will take your breath away. The home’s neutral palette is sophisticated epitomised while remaining homely and inviting.

Guests absolutely love the privacy of this home, and they’ve noted that something precious particularly sticks out…the silence. Just you, your family, and the acres of olive trees. That is until someone starts blasting some poolside classics on the Bose speaker, but it’s all part of enjoying this beautiful home however you want to. Although secluded, there isn’t a compromise on safety. Groups can enjoy their holiday without having to worry about a single thing - a remote-controlled entry gate, alarm system, security service, and video doorbell ensure complete privacy and safety.

Built in 1877 and renovated in 2017, guests are lucky enough to experience the rustic charm of Southern Italian architecture, complete with local tiles and ancient stone, as well as top-notch kitchen appliances and walk-in showers. The blend of old and new is so effortless. Bask in the sun, dip in the heated pool, and lounge under the stunning cabana, before getting the outdoor, stone barbeque going. The outdoor kitchen is complete with a sink and stove, too. Not to mention an outdoor shower that flows out hot water. There's really not much reason to go inside, but when the kids (and the parents!) need some downtime, you can load Netflix up on the TV. 

Although you feel like the only people in the world, you’re never far from a helping hand. We know that babies and toddlers go through nappies and wipes like nobody’s business, and packing for this can be stressful. Relax knowing that you can request a pre-arrival grocery delivery, so everything is there ready for you. Should you want to, nearby villa staff can pop over to help with more shopping or cleaning up. This is perfect for families that can’t nip out to the shops as easily, you don’t have to lift a finger - it comes to you. Especially with children generally eating earlier than the grown-ups (which eats into your precious pool time!), a chef that can whip something up for them, then get to work on a gourmet four-course meal for the adults.

Speaking of activities, we know you might not even want to leave the gorgeous villa, but there is so much to do in the area that your host can arrange. Cycle around the cobbled Puglian streets, stopping to admire lush vineyards and whitewashed villas. Or, take a boat tour and sail the aqua Adriatic Sea. Given the location of this home, nature lovers can also hike through the rolling hills and olive groves.
