Between the olive groves of the Puglian countryside, this villa is a lesson in minimalism and sleek design. An inviting private pool is at the centre of the outdoor space and the dining terrace (with a charcoal barbecue) looks out over ancient olive trees. Accommodation is split between the main building, where you’ll find one of the bedrooms and the sparse living area, kept cool by white stone walls. One of the bedrooms is in its own lamia building and a further bedroom is in the annexe with garden access. It’s a short drive to Ostuni for days wandering the ancient streets, and Brindisi is a short hop in the car.

This traditional stone trullo surrounded by olive groves makes for a memorable stay. The interior is as charming as you’d expect, with arched ceilings and carved spaces to unwind in. While the kitchenette is on the basic side, there’s also an outdoor kitchen to cook up Italian dishes. The bedroom is minimal and comfortable, though the linens are an add-on here. It’s the outside that really caught our attention – with sprawling gardens and sun loungers to soak up the Mediterranean rays. Though there’s no pool here, the outdoor shower offers a refreshing way to cool off – better still, the waters of Torre Guaceto Beach are around a twenty-minute drive away.

This villa can be found in San Vito dei Normanni, a village in Brindisi. It’s 10 kilometres from Ostuni, Italy’s White City, as well as from Torre Guaceto Reserve, so there’s plenty to explore nearby – though you’ll definitely need to hire a car. We like the simple, clean lines of the villa, but its real appeal is the outside space. The fenced garden has swing seats, a shaded veranda and, best of all, a large private swimming pool. There are only two bathrooms for eight guests, but the outdoor shower comes in handy for rinsing off after trips to the beach.

For those that want to get in touch with nature, this rebuilt farmer’s shack in the Puglian countryside is the perfect getaway.  Though you’re still just a five-minute drive from the supermarkets, restaurants and winding old streets of San Michele Salentino, and the UNESCO trulli houses of Ostuni are a twenty-minute drive (perfect for a day trip).

It’s all about escaping the everyday and embracing the landscape here. Surrounded by acres of olive groves and fruit orchards, you’ve got a natural larder to play with – perfect for cooking alfresco in the outdoor kitchen. The entire living space is designed to be outdoors, with the lounge sofas sets around a fire pit and the full kitchen shaded by bamboo and looking out into the olive grove. There’s a swimming pool for cooling off, a hammock strung beneath a century-old olive tree and an outdoor shower tucked away too.

The only thing you’ll find inside is the bedroom and bathroom. It’s a world of sleek concrete in here, with a desk should you fancy a spot of writing (there’s no Wifi, it’s time to take it easy). There’s a small sofa should the weather take a turn, and it’s set by the picture-frame window so you can still enjoy a glimpse of the rust-red land. But this place is designed for living outdoors, under the warmth of the southern Italian sun.

This villa is a modern oasis just outside the charming town of Carovigno, where you’ll find authentic restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Moreover, the villa is conveniently located just a fifteen-minute drive from the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic coast, where you can relax and explore the unspoilt nature and beaches of the Torre Guaceto nature reserve. The villa comprises a main house and two independent trulli, making it perfect for larger groups. Laze out by the pool, sip cocktails in the outdoor lounge and grill up dinners in the outdoor kitchen – bliss.

Sitting in a particularly picturesque part of the Puglian countryside, this white home can boast of a pair of Trullo roofs that are so distinctive of this region, as well as lots of amenities for a truly relaxing stay.

The swimming pool in the middle of the bucolic grounds will be appreciated when the temperature sits in the twenties and beyond, while there's also a terrace on which to lounge and dine – perhaps with something straight off the barbecue in front of you.

When it comes to the living quarters, you'll find a characterful mix of the traditional and contemporary, with stone flooring and archways brightened up by bright white walls and subtle lighting. There'll be no complaints with the smart kitchen and bathrooms, nor the airy bedrooms.

In the surrounding Latiano countryside, there's an innate peacefulness, plus a fair few attractions in the shape of the pretty rural town of San Michele Salentino just under seven kilometres away and the Puglian coastline as close as 22 kilometres away.

Location-wise, perhaps you’ll choose to head down to the beach for a day of sand and sun or drive west to the whitewashed city of Ostuni to see its Gothic, Romanesque and Byzantine architecture.

Showcasing original architectural features like thatched rooves and exposed stonework, this traditional trullo-style home offers a unique experience that can only be had in Puglia. The garden is large and fully fenced, with a playground and trampoline to keep the little ones happy. For the grown-ups, there are three dining verandas, a swimming pool and plenty of space to relax. The house itself is made up of several separate trulli, making it ideal for large groups as you can have a little privacy when needed. Set within a park of olive trees, it’s safe to say that the location is remote, so we’d recommend renting a car to get around (the freeway is just nine kilometres away).

This Puglian villa blends modern features with a rural vibe. Though you’ll find a few steps, this home is predominantly spread over level, making it a great option for every guest. There’s lots of light filling the minimal but playful interior, and there’s plenty of space for guests to spread out. While this villa accommodates eight people, we’d suggest the beds are better suited to six adults and two children. We like the bold furnishings on the terrace, but the pool might steal our attention the most here. And when you’re ready to hit the beach, you only need to drive 4km to Spiaggia di Morgicchio.

This ancient medieval tower has been restored to welcome couples and solo explorers. Charming and modern, it's worth noting there isn't a kitchen or living space here. Still, you'll find ample seating on the shared terrace and a breakfast buffet, making this a good base. The communal swimming pool and hot tub are also a bonus, but it's the location that really drew us to this spot. Located minutes from beautiful beaches like Torre Santa Sabina, the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, and the historic center of Ostuni, this unlocks another side of Italy.

Alternatively, drive 30km or so in the opposite direction, and you'll arrive on Puglia's awe-inspiring Adriatic coast. Its shimmering azure waters and white sand beaches are more than a match for the Maldives.

Possibly the most unique home we've ever seen, this architectural masterpiece offers 3000 square feet of veritable luxury. A traditional Apulia design sets the scene for a holiday comprised of privacy, amenities and endless greenery.

The interior may be on the minimalist side but it’s hard not to fall under the spell of the whitewashed walls and conical ceilings. In addition to that, you’ll also enjoy a garden with a private swimming pool and an outdoor hot tub. For delicious family meals, gather in the alfresco dining area or head inside where a generous table also awaits. Bear in mind that a car is recommended here in order to explore the area and reach the nearby towns, which include Ostuni.

This one-bedroom apartment lies in an ancient medieval tower with a number of similar homes. The shared terrace provides space for sitting out and relaxing with an alfresco drink or meal. The communal hydromassage pool is open in the summer months – it's on the smaller side but is great for unwinding away from Carovigno's busy town centre. The kitchen at this home is quite small and the location means there is the potential for some noise from neighbours, but breakfast is provided between May and October and you'll find plenty of fantastic restaurants on your doorstep. You can pay to use a nearby public car park, and it's an easy drive to Ostuni and Brindisi for great days out.

Made up of two mirrored units, this villa is perfect for family or friends wanting to spend time together but also enjoy some private space. That said, the outdoor area will be enjoyed by all. Sun-kissed terraces, alfresco dining and a private pool help you make the most of the Mediterranean climate – what’s not to love?

Nestled in the Italian countryside, this villa is a little rustic slice of paradise. With contemporary, comfortable interiors, there’s plenty of space for a group of six to spread out, though the cherry on the cake for us is the outdoor space. It’s not as imposing as some of the other villas in our collection, but this home in the Puglian countryside won us over with its dreamy location. Surrounded by olive trees, the garden is ideal for alfresco dining, plus there’s a smattering of fruit trees nearby if you fancy sourcing your own ingredients. You’ll need a car to make the most of your stay, but there are plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs on your travels, from a wander along the coast to a trek up to the Corso Vittorio Emmanuel II Viewpoint in Ostuni (trust us, it’s worth it).

The swimming pool and alfresco dining area ensure that you have everything you need for a wonderful Puglian escape.

Overlooking the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, the white stone exterior blends in with the rural surroundings – ideal for those seeking some peace and quiet. The home is spread across two different buildings – one is set in the traditional trullo. Encouraging outdoor living, there's plenty of space for soaking up the Puglia sun as you wine and dine on the terrace equipped with a barbecue, while the private pool offers welcome relief from the midday heat. It's a short drive from the beautiful coastline, shops and restaurants, so we suggest hiring a car to get the most out of your stay.

Allure of the Adriatic 

A ten-minute drive from Ostuni, this villa offers a dreamy escape in Puglia. The garden was designed to take advantage of the sunshine. You can work out in the outdoor gym, cool off with a dip in the pool, or tuck into an Italian feast on the terrace. Inside, the ivory hues and natural accents fit in perfectly with Puglia's white-washed towns. Our favourite space is the main bedroom, where a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi bath is the perfect way to end the day. Just note that two bedrooms don't have air conditioning.

The Puglian countryside is renowned for its wonderful homes packing quirky features, and this villa is no different. Situated amongst olive groves and vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see, this rural paradise really is a treasure for the whole family to enjoy. We absolutely adore the way the modern interior beautifully contrasts the traditional vaulted building structure. You don't see ceilings as unique as this home's very often, and you'll likely have a smile on your face every time you wake up to views of it.

The outside of this home is just as brilliant. Feeling like something of a private arena with a dramatic walled exterior, the courtyard is certain to be the hub of your daily activities. Splash around in the heated swimming pool with the kids, or watch them from afar while you and your loved one share romantic cocktails at the marbled outdoor bar. Crank up the sound system with some jazzy music to really set the tone.

Being situated in Puglia means you're in a prime location to take advantage of Italy's beautiful south. Lovely beaches along the Adriatic Coastline can be reached within thirty-minutes by car. The host recommends a trip to Torre Guaceto. For a true Puglian experience, 'The White City', Ostuni, is a twenty-minute drive. Ostuni makes for a great day out soaking up authentic Italian culture. Closer to home, the local village is five-minutes by car and has everything you need, including restaurants, a pharmacy, a supermarket, and a bakery.
