Nestled within a lemon orchard, this stunning villa is practically hanging off the side of the Amalfi Coast. On the villa’s stepped terraces, the citrus scent of fresh lemons combines with sea salt as you enjoy uninterrupted views over the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Walkways shaded by twisting grapevines, magenta bougainvillaea and wisteria bursting in purple clouds give way to panoramic views. You’ll find endless secluded spots for dining outdoors, or lounging in the sun. Inside, we were really taken by the hand-painted tiles in every room, bursting with blues, yellows and greens, and the hand-painted details like the decal in the shower, that feel distinctly Amalfi. Rather than facing the TV, the living room’s sofa points directly at the French windows and that incredible sea view and both main bedrooms have their own French windows for a view all to yourself. From the villa, it’s a short walk to the beach at the bottom of Maiori. Here, you can join the coastal walking path that links all the quintessentially Amalfi Coast villages. Or, head out in the car to the town of Amalfi, a fifteen-minute drive away.

The fifty-kilometre long stretch of shimmering beaches and technicolour villages looks straight out of a fairytale, with a balmy climate and delicious cuisine to solidify its appeal. Location-wise, you can't do much better. Beaches, eateries and shops are all just steps away. Take a stroll along the postcard-pretty marina in the mornings, followed by lunch at a waterfront restaurant. If you're seeking out some of the Amalfi Coast's best nature spots, make sure you add a hike on the 'Path of the Gods' to your itinerary, considered by many to be the best hiking trail in the area thanks to sweeping mountain views of the Mediterranean.

After a day of exploring, head home to relax in the outdoor hot tub, before indulging in a laid-back dinner cooked on the barbecue.

Spread across three levels, there’s plenty of space for a large family or group of friends to spread out and enjoy some private time here. With an absolutely breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this ancient villa couldn’t really be more of a complete package if it tried. Not only does waking up to the panoramic horizon inspire a great sense of relaxation, but the villa itself is pretty with its curving arches and many textures. 

Given its age, the home has seen its share of modernisation, but it has always been done in the most loving and sympathetic way to retain the original charm, and that character is certainly still visible. Picture yourself tucked away on the sofa with a good book, or at the dining table – with the doors flung open – as you catch up on the news with your morning cuppa. 

The only thing better than unwinding inside the home would be doing so outside. There are a variety of terraces for relaxing and alfresco dining, while inside this place, dating from the 15th century, there’s a traditional feel with beams and handmade tiles. There's an open fire in the living room for cooler evenings and all of the bedrooms are en-suite (two also have a private terrace). Situated in the oldest part of Amalfi, it’s just a short walk down the steps to the centre of the town or you can take one of two public lifts.

With bedrooms overlooking Belvedere, this central apartment is only 100m from Duomo di Ravello and Villa Rufolo. Close enough to sights, bars and restaurants, it's made for those wanting to soak up all Italy has to offer. Though looking at the terrace, it's also made for sun worshippers. Dine alfresco and hot tub in a Mediterranean summer haze with a view of the Gardens of the Princess of Piedmont. Because of how traditional the home is, the rustic decor might not be to everyone's taste, but it is comfortable.

Within walking distance of Sorrento’s waterside restaurants, bustling piazzas and independent shops, this villa is ideally placed for a memorable holiday in southern Italy. Perched just two hundred metres from the lift leading down to the glorious sandy shores of Marinella Beach, a fifteen-minute walk from the centre of Sorrento, and with quick connections to legendary Pompeii and Capri, you couldn’t dream up a better location. And you could never go hungry here, with Nonna-esque pizzerias and traditional trattorias for the freshest seafood imaginable just fifty metres from your door.

Back home, those dazzling views of lofty palms and the distant sea first caught our eye at this apartment set in a handsome period building. Designed to make the most of the panoramas from all angles, the impressive balcony linking the living room and one of the bedrooms is the spot to drink up the vistas (preferably with a glass of chilled Campanian wine in hand). But if the weather doesn’t buck up, curl up with freshly brewed coffees inside on the sofa and drink up the landscapes through the picture windows instead – it’s just as inviting.

Gateway to Amalfi

Now, this is what we call a view. Perched above the Gulf of Salerno, this villa offers breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Our favourite spot is the terrace, where a glass of wine complements the panoramas perfectly. There's also a private Jacuzzi that makes soaking under the stars a real treat. The interior design is simple but chic, though the main bedroom doesn't feel particularly private. And, while the kitchen is on the smaller side, you'll only be a five-minute walk from the eateries in Amalfi. That's pretty hard to beat.

This luxurious villa in the heart of Positano offers breathtaking sea views. There are three terraces, a lush garden of citrus trees, and a private infinity pool – you’ll have more beautiful outside space than you’ll know what to do with. There are heaters on the largest terrace so you can continue to enjoy the Amalfi Coast views even if it turns chilly. The villa is filled with antiques and period paintings, with multiple dining and seating spaces – this home is ideal for large groups. The centre of Positano is a ten-minute walk away, and you can easily drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ravello. We’d also be tempted to hop on a boat trip to Capri.

Overlooking the vivid Gulf of Salerno, this gorgeous apartment is perched on the steep cliffside of Positano – a popular village resort sitting prettily on the Amalfi Coast. In every direction of your doorstep, you'll discover winding streets dotted with inviting cafes and boutiques, as well as the historic Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta. If you're feeling adventurous, why not lace up your hiking boots and trail along the Sentiero degli Dei? 

Come on into this coastal-coloured home, where the bold splashes of blue bring the waterside ambiance indoors. Wander into the kitchen and prepare an Italian breakfast, then plan out your itinerary at this intimate dining table for two. If you want to feel that sea breeze in the morning, simply walk out on your sun-soaked terrace and enjoy the bird's eye view. We think that this is the perfect spot for unwinding in the hot tub after sightseeing, and watching a romantic sunset with your partner as you sample some local limoncello.

There's something rather magical about the view from this apartment nestled within a private park in Positano – ruggedly beautiful cliffsides peppered with dwellings part to reveal a burst of gloriously blue Tyrrhenian Sea and the uninterrupted skyline beyond. It makes for a charming backdrop while you soak up the sunshine or enjoy alfresco meals on the terrace.

Although the apartment itself lies on the smaller side of things, we're quite fond of the bright and contemporary design, particularly the sleek white galley kitchen and the fetching patterned tiling underfoot in the bedrooms. It's a home that's been owned by the same family for more than three decades, but you can certainly tell that it's received plenty of attention in recent years.

The local town of Positano itself isn't large, so most of the attractions are easily reachable on foot, including the golden sands of Spiaggia Grande Positano only 400 metres from the front door. In the wider area, those fond of a hike will appreciate the hilly terrain and walking routes found throughout the Amalfi Coast.

Simply Unforgettable

This rustic apartment, situated in the heart of Sorrento, is a delightful place to relax after a day of sightseeing along the Amalfi coast. Inside, expect a collection of vintage furnishings and plenty of mod-cons to make you feel right at home. When you’re not kicking back with a milky coffee on the cherry red Chesterfield, you’ll be out on the balcony, reclining on a lounger with a good book and soaking up unobstructed views of the rugged landscape. 

Take advantage of the warm weather and stroll through your locale. Watch the boats to and fro from the harbour before stretching out on Peter’s Beach. Weave through the winding streets of the old town then stop for lunch accompanied with a carafe of white wine in a no-nonsense eatery. The address is fantastic – this apartment is in one of the most exclusive areas on the Sorrento Coast. There are bars and restaurants on your doorstep or explore the city of Sorrento, a short walk or ride away.

Tucked away in the hills above Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, this villa is a real hidden gem. It boasts stunning views of the Bay of Naples and the rugged hills of the Sorrento Peninsula – you may find it difficult to tear your gaze away. 

The villa is modern and stylish, with heaps of space. You can spend time together as a group, but also slip away for a quiet moment here. The home gym means you needn’t miss out on workouts, and the elegant spa-like bathtub means you can relax just as easily. 

Best of all, the outside space is wonderful. The terrace has an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue with glorious views. If you’re anything like us, you’ll want to spend all your time out here. When you’re not cooking or dining, you can stretch out on a sofa and drink in the view as you top up your tan. Children will love the free-standing swimming pool, too. 

It takes around ten minutes to stroll to Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, where you can shop and dine out. Slightly further afield but still within easy reach is Massa Lubrense, a pretty town known for its pastel-coloured houses perched on cliffs. Stroll around the harbour to admire the boats while tucking into gelato. Sorrento and all of its beauty and style are a twenty-minute drive away. There’s something for everyone here.

This gorgeous villa is perched on the top floor of a 450-year-old mill. The mill has been carefully renovated over the years, but the home still packs in an impressive level of historic charm.

The traditional interiors are charming and cosy, and we loved the nonna-style kitchen for rustling up authentic Italian dishes, enjoyed together in the internal courtyard. Thanks to the flexible sleeping arrangements, this place is ideal for any family or friends travelling together. Location-wise, Fornillo Beach is within walking distance, and you’re not far from Positano's laid-back restaurants and independent shops.
