Roman Sunset is located in Flaminio - it's a lovely residential and well-connected neighbourhood but if you're keen to stay in the historical centre itself then you might want to look elsewhere. With its gorgeous views, abundant natural light, and calming colour scheme, this home is the perfect place to retreat to after a long day.

Much like its sister apartment in the same building, Green Jay has an air of nobility that surrounds it. Antique furniture, dark wooden windows, and tiled floors all combine to encapsulate the feeling of elegance, a feeling which is common in Flaminio. This isn’t the place to stay if you want to be in the very middle of the action, but you get a sense of calm and a detachment from the tourist crowds, which is more than worth the extra journey time.

Not far from the Vatican, this apartment is an excellent family option. Though the living area isn't the largest, there's plenty of space across the five bedrooms. The kitchen is well-stocked if you fancy a home-cooked meal, but for something extra special, your host is happy to arrange a private chef for a fee. You'll also have access to a small balcony ideal for enjoying morning espressos and sipping sundowners. Location-wise, shops and restaurants are a short walk away, as is the iconic St Peter's Square. Further afield, but still within easy reach, are the city's other famous landmarks, putting you in a prime spot for exploring.

The Flaminio quartiere sits in a bend of the River Tiber and lays claim to this classic Roman apartment. The interiors are 1930s inspired with vintage furnishings, rich dark wood accents and original terrazzo floors. After an industrious day exploring the Eternal City, we loved disappearing into what can only be described as a king-sized sofa, designed by Philippe Starck. Sip a cappuccino by the window overlooking the Monte Mario Observatory or take a seat at the dining table and enjoy a traditional cornetto. While you’re a fifteen-minute car ride to the centre of Rome, there’s plenty to do in your locale. In the summer, catch an outdoor movie at the Cinema Titian Roma, ten-minutes walk to the north, with the striking MAXXI contemporary art and architecture museum right next door. The manicured lawns of Villa Borghese are located twenty minutes south – perfect for picnics and afternoon strolls. Closer to home, you’ll find traditional wine bars and simple osterias along the tree-lined Viale del Vignola, just footsteps away.

Set on one of the main thoroughfares of Prati, this home has a fantastic location, with the Vatican Museums just over ten minutes away on foot. It's the same walking distance to the boutiques in Via Cola di Rienzo, as well as the Trionfale Market with its food and flower stalls. If you want to explore some more of Rome's well-known attractions, take a twenty-minute stroll to Castel Sant'Angelo, with its rooftop views over the city. Back at this home – it's comfortable and well-designed, with a calming colour scheme that is just what you need after a hectic day exploring the city. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the balcony or catch up on some work if need be (it's fully equipped for remote working). From floors to ceilings, this apartment in central Rome maintains a sense of originality in its decor and finishes. It blends in with its historic surrounding – the bustling Piazza del Popolo with its pavement cafés and pop-up book markets is a three-minute walk, as is the beautiful Villa Borghese. If shopping is your thing, the Spanish Steps and Via del Corso are five minutes on foot. Large families or groups of friends will find this apartment to be an excellent home base. As soon as you step into the marble-floored hall you get a feeling of old-world Italy. The hall is dotted with antiques and moving through to the living and dining room it’s all floor to ceiling bookcases and herringbone floor. We particularly love the main bathroom, sleek in monotone black and white, yet embracing the vintage with its Singer sewing machine washstand and glorious oval tub.

Comfort reigns supreme in this bright and appealing apartment – it’s easy to imagine a family or group of friends feeling very at ease in this rustic home. While there's no bold design or styling, the sober colours and abundance of wood make for a very relaxing and breathable environment to return to after days spent sightseeing. We really loved the unsuspecting little touches around the flat too, such as the Japanese-style painted wardrobe doors and the reclaimed cabinet. You'll notice plenty of tasteful artwork adorning the walls also. Come together in the traditional dining area for a quick coffee, before setting off to complete your tourist itinerary. We were surprised by just how quiet it was here, despite being in the heart of Rome. Walk to the historic Spanish Steps in just fifteen minutes – from there, go shopping and limoncello-sipping around the bustling Piazza di Spagna. Ascend back up the steps to one of the city's most beloved sights, Trevi Fountain, under eight minutes on foot from your new home.

If you're a group heading to Rome, or perhaps two families travelling together, this home offers a colourful, arty alternative to run-of-the-mill apartments. With their own entrance accessed through an outer gate and a small outside space where you can sip coffee in the morning, they've been recently renovated with artistic flair. 

The one-bedroom apartment sleeps up to four, thanks to a sofa bed in the lounge, and this one is mainly decked out in red and black. High ceilings and a brick-effect wall make for a bright, fun place to put your feet up at the end of the day, and we particularly love the neon sign and touches of Americana. Meanwhile, the other apartment is an ode to monochrome, with modern, designer furniture and a minimalist feel. Both have open-plan living spaces with dining tables and fully-equipped kitchens, and both have sleek, stylish bathrooms.

Just a short stroll from the nearest Metro station, it's just a couple of stops to the centre of the city, a twelve-minute walk across the bridge to Piazza del Popolo, or a half-hour walk to Vatican City.

When it comes to sightseeing, you’re ideally placed too with Piazza del Popolo a twelve-minute stroll, Castel Sant'Angelo an eighteen-minute walk and St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City twenty-four minutes away on foot. You’re also a fourteen-minute walk from beautiful Villa Borghese and its manicured gardens, while all around you, Prati’s high-end boutiques, open-air wine bars, stylish cocktail lounges, and gourmet restaurants wait to be discovered.

We love this location – the area's many wine bars and gourmet eateries are a stone's throw away, as is the Vatican when you're in the mood to sightsee. Juliet balconies overlook the pretty streets back home, pairing nicely with the sleek and minimalist interiors. The sofa bed can accommodate two guests, making it ideal for short stays. You'll also have access to a private terrace – it may not have any views, but it's still a pleasant spot to unwind in the evenings.

It feels as if the rooms were designed with the guest in mind, so aside from the minimalist essentials, you're left with a lot of space to move around, which helps maximise the natural light as well. The crowds of tourists are kept at a slight distance, across the river. This apartment can be found in Prati, a neighbourhood that’s favoured by the well-heeled locals. There are bars, restaurants and shops all within a stone’s throw of the apartment building, and the Lepanto metro station is a mere eight-minute walk away so when you’re ready to see the sights, it’s as easy as can be. 

Start your day by tucking into pastries and coffee on the terrace. There are glorious views of the Vatican, which is just a twenty-four-minute walk away. Watch the streets below come to life while you plan how you’ll spend your stay. After visiting the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica, perhaps you’ll stroll to Sant’Angelo Bridge – it’s nineteen minutes away. Decide which of the restaurants you pass you’ll return to for dinner, and definitely indulge in a scoop or two of gelato. 

Depending on your stamina, everything is within walking distance but in those peak summer months, you’ll be grateful for how easy it is to explore on the metro. The journey to the Pantheon takes twenty-one minutes. After a day spent touring around the historic sights, the apartment is a delightfully chilled-out space to return to. Sit on the terrace as the sun sets, sipping wine – city breaks don’t get better than this.

This penthouse apartment grabbed our attention for its panoramic views over Rome from the rooftop terrace. Laid out over two storeys, you’ll have two living rooms and two kitchens here, as well as a choice of indoor and outdoor dining areas – perfect for enjoying a meal cooked by a private chef, which your host can arrange. Designed by accomplished artist and interior designer, Francesca Squillante Montoro (also known as Tompiy), the home also boasts bespoke furnishings, eye-catching artwork, a small gym, and a collection of lush plants. Location-wise, you’re in the Prati area of the city, known for its wide streets and gourmet restaurants, and within a twenty-minute walk of many of Rome’s iconic landmarks.

A Roman Affair

Part of the joy of visiting Rome is being in the thick of things – busy side-street eateries, crowds clamouring to see the sights, and dodging Vespas as you explore the city. This property is in the perfect location.

There are two apartments, making this ideal for groups of friends who want some space. The first is decorated with an eye-catching nod to Pop Art and street artists like Banksy, while the second taps into the romance of Rome with soft pastel shades and an elegant feel. 

You’re close enough to everything to explore on foot, but for those days when the heat is a little too much, you’ll be glad to be a three-minute walk from the Lepanto metro stop. You’re also in an area rife with restaurants, cafes and bars, so you don’t need to travel far for an exquisite meal or a chilled glass of wine. 

We like to start our day with a spot of people watching. Walk twelve minutes to Piazza del Popolo for a cappuccino with a view. From there, maybe you’ll tick off the Trevi Fountain – it’s fifteen minutes on the metro  – or meander the twenty-two minutes to the Spanish Steps. The Roman Forum is thirty-six minutes from the apartment – you’ll want to spend at least a couple of hours there, so pop into a trattoria for a pizza on the way. 

After a busy day in the bustling city, you’ll be glad to return to the apartment. Crack open a cold beer on the balcony in the late afternoon to soak up the atmosphere. After a brief respite, you’ll be ready to hit the town again.

This practical apartment is in the Flaminio district of Rome. Tram 2 departs just 200 metres away, whisking you to Piazza del Popolo in no time. You’ll be within easy reach of the City’s restaurants and shops, as well as iconic sights and tourist attractions. The apartment is comfortable and convenient, though with six guests, two will sleep on a sofa bed in the living space. There’s a desk in bedroom one for those working remotely during their stay.

The stylish open-plan living room is a great place to relax and it also accommodates one guest on a sofa bed at full capacity. This is a great base for your Eternal City visit.

In the evening, what could be a better way to enjoy your delicious Italian pasta and pizza than with an alfresco meal on the terrace as you admire the amazing views afforded to you? Once owned by famous painter Albert Jill, this apartment lies in the heart of Rome. The decor is a bit dated and children and toddlers aren't permitted, but we think friends or families with older children will settle right in. The wi-fi isn't the strongest in all rooms so it's perhaps not the best for remote working, but Jill's unique art adorns the walls and the location is wonderful. You'll be on a quiet cobblestone street, but you may still hear some non-disruptive outside noise from the city. Within walking distance, you'll find an array of shops, restaurants, and attractions like the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, with public transport nearby for getting around.

You'll also find an array of bars and gourmet restaurants on your doorstep. Trionfale Market, on the other hand, with its food and flower stalls, is just over a five-minute saunter. So, take some fresh produce back to this home and whip up a Roman-style feast to enjoy in the elegant dining area. Later, entertain your guests at the piano here, or relax with a glass of prosecco. In the morning, fling open the French doors in the bedroom, then enjoy a hearty breakfast before starting another exciting day exploring all the Eternal City's wonderful sights.

Just across the River Tiber, a fifteen-minute walk takes you to the endless museums and Sistine Chapel at The Vatican. Housed in a building dating back to the 1500s, this apartment still radiates old-world charm which can immediately be felt by the 19th-century aedicule at the entrance. A short walk away (350 metres), you’ll find Castel Sant’Angelo and it’s just 750 metres from the endless museums of The Vatican. It’s split across two levels and, upon entering, you’ll be greeted with a lavish living room with picture-perfect views. The second bedroom features a sofa bed, but its access to a private terrace with views of Castel Sant’Angelo is a definite highlight – perfect for enjoying sunset meals and celebratory glasses if Italian wine.

We also love that the main bedroom opens out onto the patio and that both bedrooms are en-suite. The second bedroom has a desk, too, if you need to catch up on emails while in Rome. This home is ideal for leisure or business travellers.

Inside there are more of those inspiring views of the Eternal City to admire – they stopped us in our tracks when we visited – they look like paintings. The classic style living space has lovely polished wood floors, a feature fireplace and an ornate galleried landing. This home is ideal for a couple, business professional or family of three.

Piazza del Popolo is a mere one-minute stroll from this home, or head to Terrazza del Pincio (four minutes on foot) – this 19th-century terrace with its fountains has fabulous views over to St. Peter's Basilica. It's the same walking distance to Villa Borghese Gardens, while Villa Medici is just over a ten-minute walk. Other attractions include the Spanish Steps, a twelve-minute saunter, and the Trevi Fountain, a twenty-minute amble.

There’s a private outdoor terrace for evening drinks, a Turkish Bath for relaxing moments and a wonderful open plan living room for cosy gatherings. 


The Eternal Rose

Since 1869, the Campo de' Fiori has been a hub of market trading for fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. And by evening, this charming square becomes a hub of alfresco dining spots and wine bars. With that in mind, this studio apartment is pretty convenient, at less than a minute away. But if you want to keep busy rather than relaxing with a glass of chianti, you’ll find palaces, museums, and statues all around – such as the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco, two minutes away. However, we feel that this home is somewhat of a landmark itself. As you step inside, you can help but be taken aback by the striking timber ceiling. These thick, rustic beams ooze old-world Italy, transporting you back in time. But with modern twists from minimalist furniture and quirky artworks, there’s an elegant clash of eras which makes this studio feel unique. We love the luxe touches like the marble kitchen sink and bathroom, although your host can provide an even better VIP experience. After being picked up by your private driver from the airport, you might fancy taking up their offer of a wine tasting tour or ride on a classic Vespa.

When we saw this grand home in the heart of Rome, we were in total awe. The classic Italianate interiors are utter joy, with exquisite antique furniture and oil paintings from the host's family homes in Puglia and Sardinia. Large windows with original shutters look out over pretty Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, with its luxury boutiques. Entertain in style at the large dining table under the light of the crystal chandelier. Or get some rest in the bedroom painted in a rich Pompeian red – if you’re not feeling sleepy, there’s a library here with a variety of books on art and literature to leaf through. Another bedroom has French doors onto a small balcony, filled with plants, with a view onto the internal courtyard – ideal for breakfast in bed before exploring this charismatic city. This location is fantastic –  it’s just a three-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and a ten-minute saunter to the stunning Trevi Fountain, while a range of sublime restaurants are right on your doorstep. You’d be hard-pressed to find better.


Lion's Pride

Despite its position in an old, atmospheric square near Campo de’ Fiori, Falconry has been renovated recently, and most of the furniture has been made to measure, making the whole place feel very well crafted. Everything fits together, from the parquet floor to the various lamps, and even the terrace is taken care of, and not an afterthought. High up among the rooftops, it feels like a little refuge from the hectic city below.

Tucked between Piazza di Spagna and the Villa Borghese, you couldn't ask for a better spot to base yourself during your Roman holiday. The cobbled street outside is utterly charming, and even with the crowds milling about a few hundred metres away, it's quite peaceful. The sprawling Villa Borghese is just five minutes away – it's an absolute must-visit, home to lush greenery, city views and beautiful sculptures, plus it's where you'll find the Gigi Proietti Globe Theatre and Museo Pietro Canonica. You're also not far from other tourist attractions – the Spanish Steps are a ten-minute walk, while the Pantheon is reachable in twenty. Inside, the apartment is bright and roomy, with a sleek kitchen and two cosy sofas that you'll want to sink into after a busy. We particularly liked the beautiful artwork of local sights that adorn the walls, and there's even a delicious restaurant downstairs when you don't feel like cooking. End your evenings on the private terrace – just pour yourself a glass of wine and relax as the sun goes down, basking in the magic of Rome. 

The Roman Tigre

Just around the corner from the Spanish Steps, this plush little apartment is the perfect getaway to Rome. Walk just two minutes and you’re on Via Condotti, with its famed luxury shops and boutiques, running all the way to the Piazza di Spagna. You’re also within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and buzzing Piazza Navona. 

Apart from its super central location, this apartment has lots going for it. Natural light fills the living room from traditional old windows. From here, you can watch the world go by on your classically Roman street. Herringbone floors and high ceilings keep things feeling grand, and the palette of greys and teals makes for a soothing spot to return to after a day in the city. We love the enclosed balcony, where a dining area is surrounded on all sides by glass – the perfect sunny breakfast spot. There’s also a tiny terrace that catches rays of sunshine in the middle of the day, painted sunshine-yellow and set up with a bistro table.
