Despite its position in an old, atmospheric square near Campo de’ Fiori, Falconry has been renovated recently, and most of the furniture has been made to measure, making the whole place feel very well crafted. Everything fits together, from the parquet floor to the various lamps, and even the terrace is taken care of, and not an afterthought. High up among the rooftops, it feels like a little refuge from the hectic city below.

Finding a street close to it all but not inundated with tourists is the holy grail in Rome – and that's precisely where you'll find this apartment. We call it the Goldilocks zone. But, ever the professional, your host Michele hasn’t used that as an excuse to rest on his laurels. The flat itself is in perfect condition, and while it doesn’t have the feeling of a family home, that’s often a good thing when it's not a sprawling home with space for all the host's personal items. The two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the flat, which is perfect for groups of friends travelling together, though families might want little ones closer by, or not. We understand. Sandwiched between the river and lively Campo de' Fiori, you're in a prime location to explore the city. The square is home to the city's most vibrant (and occasionally overpriced) street market (Monday-Saturday mornings). Still, this famous foodie haven is a good place to stock up on fresh produce, just a five-minute walk from your apartment. Cross over the stone footbridge, Ponte Sisto, and within a couple of minutes, you'll be immersed in trendy Trastevere. With its cobbled streets lined with charmingly faded facades, innovative trattorias, and craft cocktail bars, there's plenty to keep you occupied well into the night.

While this two-bedroom Rome apartment isn't the most stylish in our collection, its enviable location is what makes it stand out. If you're here to explore, you'll find plenty of galleries and museums nearby. Back at home, one bedroom offers courtyard views, while the other lets you peer through trees at the River Tiber. The kitchen, while looking in need of an update, is well-equipped – though we think you'll be taking advantage of stylish Regola's eateries more often than not.

Deep within the narrow, medieval streets of Rome, this period building hides a surprisingly modern apartment for up to five guests. It's not a huge space but it's been cleverly configured to make the most of what it has – and to make it feel comfortable and high-end at the same time. Decorated in on-trend whites, creams and greys, it's bright and fresh. The kitchenette is stowed away in a cupboard-like space in the living room and while it's perfect for the basics, it's not going to appeal to keen home cooks – but this is Rome, and some of the best restaurants, cafes and bars in the world are right on your doorstep. Our favourite feature of this home is the view onto the charming Piazza dei Satiri outside. And while we're talking location, the famous Campo de’ Fiori market is just around the corner.

Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight (and ten, at a stretch) in the Jewish Quarter isn’t as straightforward as you might think. Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight and has a view as good as Teatro’s is even harder. It looks down onto the Largo di Torre Argentina, which holds the ruins of four temples and Pompey’s Theatre. It’s a fantastic spot, and Teatro makes the most of it, with a simple design intended to not interfere.

Centrally located in the eternal city of Rome, this home is a mere stone's throw from several iconic landmarks, including the Ponte Sisto, where you can overlook the Tiber. And some of those sights you might even spot from the balcony, though when it comes to the outdoor seating, we prefer the patio table in the shade of the pergola. As for the home, the rustic charm of the rafters and furnishings is sweet and well-kept. It's worth noting that despite being spacious, this home's sleeping arrangements feature a double sofa bed and another room with two single sofa beds that might be more suitable for children. With two other double beds available, however, it's the ideal pad for a family getaway.

Set in the heart of the historic district, overlooking the atmospheric square Largo dei library, all the must-see sights are walkable from here.

Get off to a flying start with a hefty dose of Roman life around the corner at Campo de Fiori (a three-minute walk) –⁠ by day, the piazza hosts one of the city's best-known markets, and by night, its bars and restaurants keep the night flowing. Or do like the locals with early-evening passeggiatas along the postcard-pretty River Tiber, it's just a four-minute walk from your door.

Back at home, this modern apartment housed in an ancient Roman villa of mighty proportions makes quite the first impression with its floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the space with natural daylight and revealing charming scenes of the pretty piazza below.

The palazzo that houses this apartment is something to behold. It's a wonderfully historic building that backs onto a little square and housed renowned American expressionist painter Cy Twombly for a good part of his later life. Once inside, the apartment is simple and traditional but elegant. There are plenty of eye-catching original features on display, including the stunning exposed beam ceiling and open fireplace, It lacks the personal effects of a lived-in home, which will appeal to those who tend to find Roman apartments on the busy side, but your hosts made your comfort their number one priority – the beds (and linens in particular) feel very luxurious and make getting up in the morning that little bit trickier. Explore the labyrinth of streets and you'll find yourself a few minutes' walk from the River Tiber, a five-minute stroll from Piazza Campo de' Fiori and 550 metres from the stunning Piazza Navona.

Habitat has a lot going for it. Beyond the incredible location (Via di Monserrato is considered one of the most beautiful streets in the city), it’s in good condition, has high ceilings, excellent parquet floors, and whitewashed ceiling beams. The kitchen brings the average down a little – you wouldn’t want to plan on cooking a dinner party in there – but apart from that, it’s a very comfortable, practical flat.

Since 1869, the Campo de' Fiori has been a hub of market trading for fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. And by evening, this charming square becomes a hub of alfresco dining spots and wine bars. With that in mind, this studio apartment is pretty convenient, at less than a minute away. But if you want to keep busy rather than relaxing with a glass of chianti, you’ll find palaces, museums, and statues all around – such as the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco, two minutes away. However, we feel that this home is somewhat of a landmark itself. As you step inside, you can help but be taken aback by the striking timber ceiling. These thick, rustic beams ooze old-world Italy, transporting you back in time. But with modern twists from minimalist furniture and quirky artworks, there’s an elegant clash of eras which makes this studio feel unique. We love the luxe touches like the marble kitchen sink and bathroom, although your host can provide an even better VIP experience. After being picked up by your private driver from the airport, you might fancy taking up their offer of a wine tasting tour or ride on a classic Vespa.

This charming apartment is in a prime spot in the heart of Navona. It's located down a quiet cobbled street, so you'll be able to enjoy a relaxing glass of wine from the private courtyard while still being close to the city's sights. You're within walking distance of Campo de' Fiori where you can pick up fresh local produce, while Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Vatican City are a short Metro ride away. At home, whip up cocktails in the stylish bar or prepare group meals in the fully equipped kitchen – there's plenty of space to unwind and entertain, though one person will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room.

A Vintage Touch

Portal doesn’t try to do anything out of the ordinary. Rather, it takes the basics of a good flat and ensures that they are all spot on. The end result is a bright flat, with high ceilings, some original features and decent furniture. The acrylic Kartell chairs contrast nicely with the largely traditional vibe, and while the kitchen could stand to be redone, it’s still functional. Finally, it’s worth mentioning how fantastic the location is. Both Campo de’ Fiori market and Piazza Navona are nearby, and the streets are an excellent example of the city’s medieval architecture.

This penthouse lies in the heart of Rome, with some expansive rooftop views from its cosy terrace. Ideal for small families, friends or couples looking to get to know the city, the decor is traditional and charming, though the low ceilings in some areas may not be suitable for taller guests. Parking here is paid, but if you're not driving, you won't have much problem getting around. There's plenty within walking distance, from restaurants and shops to the River Tiber and the ancient Pantheon. Public transport is also nearby, making it easy to see the sights both near and far.

Location, location, location! This apartment is a perfect base for exploring the very best of the Eternal City. Your Roman retreat is right in the heart of the historical centre, on a beautiful cobbled street no more than a fifteen-minute amble away from Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona, and charming Trastevere. Perhaps most importantly, you're just off Via Giulia – a roughly half-mile-long cobbled street that's lined from end to end with beautiful churches, elegant palazzi, maze-like antique shops, and some of the fanciest homes in Rome. It's also well-equipped with eateries – I Sofà Bar Restaurant & Roof Terrace is set to impress with great views and even better food or you can rub shoulders with Rome's great and good at specialist seafood establishment Assunta Madre. If the idea of a quiet night in appeals, the high-end appliances in the kitchen have got you covered, while the home cinema in the double room is ideal for watching legendary Fellini films from the comfort of your bed.

We’ll admit it; an apartment this big in central Rome is a rare find indeed. Add in an attentive host, rooftop views and stylish decor and you know you’re onto a winner. The living area is a social space, perfect for big groups who want to spend time together. White, leather L-shaped sofas create the chill-out lounge and a mulberry-purple kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast. Bedrooms are a medley of mezzanine spots and private king-size suites. The real boon is you’re looking out over Piazza Sforza Cesarini here, the heart of the action in the central Ponte neighbourhood. A seven-minute walk sees you at the pavement cafés and buzzing bars of Piazza Navona, and the ancient site of the Pantheon is fifteen minutes on foot.

Charming and cosy, you'll find this apartment in the centre of Rome, just around the corner from Campo de' Fiori and its morning market. Nestled in the heart of the historic centre and just a few steps from the Campo de Fiori market and the Majestic Piazza Navona, this apartment promises a comfortable retreat for a memorable city stay. Pastel-hued and characterful in style, the open-plan living space is a treat for a large group. The bedrooms will suit a close group, with a double and a single sharing one bedroom and a semi-open plan fifth bedroom – that said, with Rome’s sights on your doorstep, you’ll be springing out of bed in the morning to experience the sights. The Pantheon, Saint Peter and the Imperial Forum, and Museo di Roma are within walking distance, as are the city’s best boutiques and restaurants.

Sitting on the right-hand side of the Tiber, the neighbourhood of Trastevere is an inimitable mix of history and character, much like this apartment. The building in which it sits dates back to the 14th century, although you wouldn't be able to guess that age from the fresh design of the interior.

In the main living space, a colour palette of neutrals makes the room feel bright and inviting, while there are brighter tones in the bedrooms that lend a sense of personality. When it comes to dinners, guests are treated to two kitchen spaces — a wooden-panelled room that doubles up as a dining area and an adjoining room with an induction cooker.

If rather than cooking, however, you fancy familiarising yourself with Roman cuisine, there's a huge choice of restaurants in the surrounding area. The city's famous attractions are not too far away, either — the Pantheon takes just over a quarter of an hour on foot to reach, while the Colosseum takes about double that.

It’s a whole building divided into four separate apartments, so up to eighteen guests can stay together while also having their own space – though four guests will be sleeping on sofa beds. The steep stone stairs aren’t suitable for those with reduced mobility – or heavy suitcases – but those stairs mean that the views from the outside spaces are pretty special. Best of all, you’re just a short stroll from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, with all the sights of the city within easy reach.

Right between Piazza Navona and Campo de’ Fiori, Refosco is in a bustling location, but inside it’s peaceful. Rich colours and plants, along with lots of decoration, create the interior design equivalent of a hug. The layout means that it’s perhaps best suited to families, or at least people who are comfortable being in close proximity, but if that doesn’t pose a problem, then it’s got a lot going for it.

A quirky base in Rome, this home is the attic of a building, so sits amid Rome’s rooftops. This means there are a lot of stairs to climb – it’s not going to be suitable for everyone and isn’t recommended for children under the age of six. But if you can manage the stairs, you’re rewarded with a charming home-from-home. The apartment even boasts a private terrace – the perfect spot for alfresco dining – and is next to a chapel designed by Raphael in the 1500s. You’ll share your outside space with the original bell tower. Seeing more of Rome’s architecture and history is a breeze, as you’re within walking distance of all the main attractions, including Campo de’ Fiori – just a five-minute stroll.

When it's time to crash out, grab a glass of something crisp from the wine fridge before settling down to marvel at the design features dotted about this home. The statement lighting, including bespoke chandeliers, brings all the ambience.

Occupying a desirable position on the banks of the River Tiber, this charming apartment is a great place to base yourself, within easy walking distance of the city's major sights. You'll be just steps from the Campo de Fiori market, with countless bars and restaurants nearby. You will need to climb up a steep flight of stairs to reach the entrance of the home and there are stairs inside, so we'd recommend packing light. Once you're up there, it's a cosy and welcoming pad to return to after sightseeing ventures. The kitchen is a little compact but well-equipped for preparing antipasti bites and pre-dinner snacks before heading into the city. 

Tiber Twilight

Tucked away in a historic building once belonging to a famous Baroque painter, this apartment offers a refreshing city sanctuary. There’s a private terrace for laidback gatherings. Inside, the rooms are well suited to families and groups in search of simplicity, ease and comfort. You’ll find all the essentials you could need and the location couldn’t be better. From here, it’s just a short stroll to the famous Piazza di Campo de Fiori, while iconic sights like the Piazza Navona and the Pantheon are within easy reach. 	


Art of Now

From Dusk Herald, the Vatican, Piazza Navona and Trastevere are all easily reachable on foot. You’ve also got the Tiber just around the corner – it’s hard to overstate just how well-placed the flat is. Inside it’s simple, but with a pretty wooden ceiling upstairs, and lots of light. The kitchen is a little beige, but we did like the geometric wallpaper. We also noticed a lot of birdsong coming through the windows, which added a lovely, bucolic feel to the place.

Tucked away in the historic heart of Rome, this apartment delivers a great base for an inspiring city stay. From here, it’s just a short stroll to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, while the Trastevere neighbourhood is just across the river. Wherever the day takes you, this home makes it easy to switch off and unwind in the open-plan living room. The main bedroom has an additional single bed which is ideal for children and the second bedroom has an ensuite bathroom – making this a great option for those in search of a little extra privacy.

This eccentric home is a little gem on the edge of Regola and overlooking the Campo de' Fiori market. It occupies the top floor of a historic fifteenth-century building that once belonged to Vannozza dei Cattanei, courtesan and lover of Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia, whose family crest still adorns the outside. There's no getting away from the fact that the living room is small, but there is just about space for an extra person on the bed. Really, though, this flat is all about the bedroom. The wallpaper is the first thing you notice, but pretty much every detail has been carefully thought through, and they all come together wonderfully. The host, Paola, lives on the same floor of the building, so she's always close by should you need anything during your stay.

Located in Rome’s wonderfully scenic and beautifully bohemian Trastevere neighbourhood, this welcoming apartment is just the ticket for those looking for an authentic stay neighboured by traditional trattorias, craft beer pubs and artisan shops galore. 

Housed in a coral-coloured building along a cobblestone street, you’ll find this charming home laid out over two floors with a beamed mezzanine bedroom and an eclectically designed living area downstairs, replete with terracotta tile floors and plenty of rustic charm. Start mornings with fresh coffee and locally bought pastries at the cosy dining table and spend evenings on the striped sofa with a glass of Italian wine. At night, the inviting bed beckons a comfortable night’s sleep, while the shelf of books offers the perfect excuse for an easy-going morning of reading before setting off to see the sights.

The apartment is full of colour and a sense of fun, though it's fair to say it won't appeal to lovers of neutral tones and pared-back decor. It's in an old building on one of the more characteristic streets in the charming Regola district. Several details remind you of that, such as the stone arches, vaulted ceilings and the ornate entryway at street level. Step out onto the cobbles and you're a five-minute walk from the lively Campo de' Fiori, seven minutes from the baroque beauty of Piazza Navona, and just over twenty minutes from the labyrinthine streets of trendy Trastevere.
