Nestled high up on the hills overlooking the sea, this villa offers guests stunning views and comfy outdoor spaces, complete with an infinity pool and alfresco dining areas. A short drive away from Taormina and the beaches, the home makes for a good base for families or groups of friends on the lookout for a Catania escape. Bear in mind that there are quite a few steps to climb inside, some of which are steep, so children will need to be supervised at all times. The proximity of a busy road also means that some street noise is to be expected here.

Offering breathtaking views of Mount Etna, this is a nature lover's paradise, with easy access to the Cyclops Riviera, Taormina, and Catania. The garden is the perfect place to sit back and relax and comes with a private Jacuzzi and patio for alfresco dining. The garden gate leads down to the sea, so you couldn’t be any closer to the ocean. If you’re looking for a sandy beach, however, you’ll find one just fifteen kilometres away.

Located inside a villa that’s been split into four apartments, this home is the perfect base for a small family or a couple of friends looking to explore Stazzo. The apartment is surrounded by a lush green garden and offers access to a communal swimming pool. Mere steps from a small inlet with a rocky beach, you needn’t venture very far to enjoy the ocean, but if you prefer sandy shores then we’d recommend renting a car to see what else the area has to offer.

This home sits on the mystifying Cyclops Riviera, just a forty-minute drive from Catania and a fifty-minute drive from the park of Mount Etna. Its scenery is nothing short of breathtaking, surrounded by the region's iconic jet-black lava rock and, overlooking the endless blue of the Ionian Sea, boasts direct access to the crystal clear waters.

Though compact, the interior is stylish and contemporary, providing the perfect base for families and small groups. Floor-to-ceiling windows usher in floods of sunlight while offering glimpses of your stunning surroundings. After a restful slumber, prepare breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen and spend mornings on the private terrace, sipping coffee and tucking into pastries in the crisp sea breeze.

With plenty of outdoor space and shared amenities, this home beckons you to unwind in the splendour of your surroundings. The outdoor pool offers a glistening oasis from the Sicilian sun, while a lush lawn boasts a play area and trampoline – perfect for the little ones.

This former fisherman's cottage, situated right by the rocky shoreline and overlooking water in the picturesque village of Santa Tecla, has been lovingly renovated by your hosts to create an alluring home that caters to all your needs.

Unique, original features have been carefully preserved, maintaining the home's charm, while comfortable contemporary furnishings have been added alongside carefully chosen antique pieces to create a characterful space that's a real pleasure to spend time in.

An open-plan layout on the ground floor allows plenty of light in through double doors that lead out into a private garden at the rear. In addition to an outdoor dining space, there's an inviting Jacuzzi tub bubbling away, plus steps leading down to the rocky shoreline and direct access from the rocks for swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.

This coastal cottage is well placed for access to a small selection of restaurants, pizzerias and a conveniently located mini market, while there's a weekly Saturday market a kilometre away in Acireale for stocking up on local produce. From here, you can head an hour or so further inland to explore Etna Park, home to the island's iconic volcano, or drive forty minutes north along the coast to the ever-popular and picturesque city of Taormina.

The charming home is situated in a fantastic spot, overlooking the sparkling blue waters of the ocean and the surrounding landscape of Acireale. One of our favourite spots in this home is the wonderful bedroom that is encompassed by floor-to-ceiling windows that light up the space whilst giving you a peek into nature – we recommend relaxing in bed as the day draws in, with the amber glow streaming into the bedroom. The second bedroom in the loft has a TV, making it easier than ever to snuggle up in bed while you watch a movie with some tasty snacks. 

Cook up a storm in the sleek kitchen and tuck into a variety of homemade meals alfresco style on the patio, followed by a snooze in the tree hammock as the children enjoy themselves on the garden playground. Dip your toes into the refreshing water of your very own pool whilst you admire the view of the sea and the relaxing sound of the waves. To the right of the pool, you'll notice a rocky beach, giving you a sense of rurality as you soak up the rays.

A short drive takes you to the city centre of Acireale, a delightful coastal destination that is located at the foot of Mount Etna. Throughout the city, you'll find a wide range of eateries to sample some of the finest Italian cuisine as well as a great selection of tourist spots that provide you with ample opportunities for those gorgeous holiday snaps.

This fantastic home is perfect for large groups. It’s made up of four apartments and a cosy annex, all with access to the delightful gardens and swimming pool. There’s a small inlet with a rocky beach just a few steps from the garden, and you’re in a great spot for exploring the island of Lachea by boat, or for visiting the park of Mount Etna. The style of each apartment varies, with some much more modern than others, but we think the waterfront setting and flexible sleeping arrangements make it a great option for groups of family or friends.

The whole family will love this fantastic apartment, nestled right on the seafront. With room for two adults and two wee ones, and plenty of outdoor space, it's a wonderful spot just 20km away from the city of Catania.

Step inside, and you'll find a bright space, with a hint of vintage charm. Mix your favourite aperitivo to sip at the curved wooden bar, before you whip up some pasta dishes. There is space to eat inside, but we think you'll want to head out to the patio, where you can dine alfresco and admire the views over a glass of prosecco. And, on hot days, there's nowhere better to cool off than in the sparkling swimming pool – bliss. 

The home also has direct access to the water – there's an outcrop of lava rock that allows you to take a dip in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Catania, the ancient port city, is roughly a forty-minute drive away, making it an excellent day trip destination. And, if you're feeling adventurous, you can explore Parco dell'Etna National Park, and take in the views of the famous volcano.

Just a forty-minute drive from the vibrant city of Catania, the easy-going lifestyle in the village of Stazzo offers a relaxing stay in Sicily. While the glorious, blue Ionian Sea laps the shore at the local marina, a five-minute stroll (passing waterside restaurants and diving centres) will take you home to a similarly coastal abode.

This modern, mid-century villa has quite a striking appearance. But surrounded by lush foliage and palm trees, it’s almost hidden from sight. Its gently undulating, curved roofs mirror the shape of the calm waves of the neighbouring sea. And to add to this theme, a glistening infinity pool sits in the garden. While you might spend a lot of time on the pool terrace, sipping chilled prosecco and listening to the waves, the kids can keep entertained in the playground. Or better still, your host can arrange an array of excursions, activities, and even babysitting services.

When you're not out and about, the cosy, homely interiors of your apartment will make you feel truly welcome. Vintage wooden furniture and 60s-style dining chairs take centre stage in the lounge. With old-fashioned touches like crocheted table linen and a tartan armchair, it’s easy to feel like part of Nonna’s family in this villa.

This is the holiday villa of your dreams. Located on the waterfront in Sicily, the only thing between you and the Mediterranean Sea is your private staircase over the lava rocks. If you prefer, you can slip into your private swimming pool above the waves. In such a dramatic and photogenic setting, everything about this home is orientated to the sea. The elegant main living areas enjoy wonderful views, the dining area opens out onto the terrace and there's even a detached gazebo, for when you want to be outside, but the sun is just that little bit too bright. Inside, the decor reflects the setting too, with blue and grey furnishings splashing colour against the neutral walls. The kitchen is sleek and minimalist in style, with all the essentials cleverly and discreetly stored. The bathrooms are luxurious extensions of the bedrooms, which remain cool and tempting even in the heat of the day. Of course, the light, sounds and scent of the sea will always draw you back to those views. So dine on the terrace as the sun sets into the sea, and enjoy an evening with loved ones as the stars pop out above.

Alternatively, tour Etna’s wineries or venture a little further and you’ll reach Taormina in just over half an hour.

Located just a few kilometres away and all reachable by car – discover Mount Etna's park, Acireale, Catania, Taormina and Syracuse. Lachea island is also well worth a visit if boat trips are your thing and the stacks at Aci Trezza and Aci Castello are not to be missed.
