Outside is where you’ll probably enjoy all of your meals considering the beautiful view of the Sicilian countryside. The saltwater pool will offer reprieve from the blazing sun when it’s at its apex – paddle lazily in it’s crystalline waters and enjoy a cocktail in the sunlounger after. One of our favourite features is the cobbled floor of the dining space – the farmhouse style goes a long way in making this feel homely, which makes it the perfect room for tiramisu, copious amounts of coffee, and a board game or two. 

Now that you’re among some of the most charming towns found on this side of Sicily, you may as well visit the mediaeval town of Erice or the salt pans of Marsala.

This modern villa, located in Castellammare del Golfo, is the perfect base for exploring the western region of Sicily, including Trapani, Marsala, and Segesta. Set across two floors, you’ll find two en-suite bedrooms and two triple bedrooms, ideal for families travelling with young children. While you’ll find all the mod-cons you need inside this home, it’s the outdoor space that caught our eye. With far-reaching sea views, sun-drenched terraces and a private pool, it’s just the spot to soak up the Sicilian sun in complete serenity.

We love the tropical garden, sun-kissed terraces, and seasonal pool here. Hydromassage tubs and showers await indoors, though some en-suite layouts are partially open-plan with less privacy. Curious kittens might pop by when you're sunbathing, which could be a dealbreaker for those with severe allergies. There's a beach nearby, plus Marsala boasts ancient sights and a buzzing nature reserve.

This villa rests on a hillside, 600 metres from Cala Mazzo di Sciacca beach. If you want to explore traditional Sicilian cuisine and wine in the local bars, the seaside village of Scopello sits prettily nearby. The coastline here is dotted with sweeps of soft sand and crystalline water, and the nature reserve of Zingaro is in the area.

 The home’s burnt-sienna facade is striking against a near-constant blue sky, and a terracotta roof and wooden shutters speak of old-world Sicily. In the private garden, olive trees shade the outdoor kitchen and the group can dine with a view of the endless sea. A bamboo pergola keeps things cool in the outdoor lounge and, when the heat gets too much, there’s a plunge-style swimming pool to cool off. The interior is crisp and clear with pops of sea-blue and turquoise matching the view from the corner windows.

A fifteen-minute drive will bring you down to Capo Bianco Beach, a mesmerising spot with white sand and crystal clear water. Agrigento is thirty-five minutes away by car, where you'll find ancient temples and a historic old town. And, if you head inland, you can visit rustic villages or do some hiking through the striking landscapes.

Marakaikko beach, with white shores and shallow waters, is only a fourteen-minute walk when you’re craving an afternoon on the sand. If you’re seeking a cultural excursion, drive seventeen minutes to Marsala, where you’ll discover the ancient ruins, The Grignani Palace and Baglio Anselmi Archaeological Museum – don’t forget to sample a glass of Marsala wine in one of the many charming bars.

Stretch out and put your feet up on one of the sun loungers as you spend the early afternoon in pure bliss before heading out to the beach. A seven–minute walk takes you to the golden sands for a day trip by the sea, followed by wandering through the streets of San Vito to discover local hidden gems and some delicious eateries.

Standing brilliant white in the rugged Sicilian countryside, overlooking the glittering Mediterranean, it feels like pure bliss waking up here every morning. The house faces northeast, so you’re in for some spectacular sunrises – if you can get up, that is, as the plush beds are irresistible. 

Slick, all-grey interiors are kept deliberately simple to allow the technicolour landscapes to sing. The bedrooms are minimalist yet comfortable and with food at the heart of Sicilian living, it’s only right that this home’s only interior communal space is a large kitchen and dining room. 

Outside, it’s delightfully quiet – the ocean and the soft melody of birdsong the only sounds. Splash around in the pool before enjoying an aperitivo on the terrace. When you’re ready to head out and explore, the picturesque town of Castellammare del Golfo with its ochre fishermen’s houses and golden beaches are just twenty minutes away by car.

Surrounded by over two hectares of verdant parkland, this home is perfectly placed for making the most of the beautiful Sicilian sunshine. From the saltwater infinity pool to the shaded hammocks, there are plenty of spots to unwind here. In fact, we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to spend all day outdoors, sipping a refreshing Amaro Averna cocktail beneath the ancient pines while one of your fellow guests fires up the barbecue. We can almost taste the skewers now…

When you’re ready to head inside, you’ll have two buildings to choose from: the main villa – a converted farmhouse with authentic design features galore – or a separate annex with its own living and sleeping quarters. Whichever you choose, you’ll have loads of space to socialise with your fellow guests, so why not while away the evening with a parlour game or two before heading upstairs for a well-deserved rest? 

Come morning, there’ll be plenty of places to explore nearby, from the idyllic seaside town of Castellammare del Golfo to the ancient streets of Palermo, an hour’s drive from home. Set off for a day of sightseeing, sample delicious cuisine at a local restaurant, or make your way to the Riserva dello Zingaro and beat the heat with a dip in the Mediterranean Sea.

Set within acres and acres of olive groves, this villa is all about Sicily’s peace and quiet. If you do want to catch a bit of the island’s buzz and stock up on supplies, the historic town of Castelvetrano is a short drive away. But this place is all about the tranquil life, floating in the huge, turquoise swimming pool or enjoying a long, lazy lounge thanks to the full outdoor kitchen. There are plenty of shaded spots with comfy seating dotted around the grounds. 

The villa is set out courtyard-style, all on one level (except for one little turret) with white buildings clustered around the pool terrace. Bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas have their own entrances onto the terrace. Inside, we love the old-world feel of the place with its sloped, wooden ceilings in the bedrooms and Persian rugs in the living room. Furniture feels like it belongs to a 19th-century aristocrat. There’s a big wood-burning stove in the dine-in kitchen, though we doubt you’ll need it in the heat of spring, autumn and summer. All in all, this place feels like you’ve got your own castle in the Sicilian countryside.
