There's plenty of room, but we think it's a tight fit for all sixteen guests – especially since some of the bedrooms are on the smaller side. Outside is a sparkling pool and alfresco dining space. Not only is every inch beautifully decorated, but we adore the focus on sustainability – think solar panels, recycled materials and wastewater systems. While some areas of the home are a little compact, you’ll find everything you need to feel right at home. If you’re planning to travel as a group of four, keep in mind two people will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area.

Our favourite spot was the outdoor space – it's the ideal place to relax for the duration of your stay. The private pool is the main attraction – just perfect for cooling down amidst the Portuguese heat. For those who could stretch out in the sun all day, the loungers allow you to do so – all you’ll need is a cool beverage in hand. As lunchtime rolls around, light the barbecue and indulge in a tasty snack on the wrap-around terrace, complete with countryside and sea views.

Inside, the home is full of traditional charm. In colder months, light the fire in the dining room for a cosy evening meal, tucking into a delicious home-cooked dinner as the fire casts a glow around the room. When you’re keen to explore, we’d recommend a trip to nearby Praia da Marinha beach – with glorious sunsets, it’s the most serene place to end the day.
