This lovely townhouse is a great choice for a relaxing break in Portugal. You’ll have multiple terraces to unwind on and can enjoy ocean views. The swimming pool is shared with nearby homes, but when you want to spread out more you can stroll to Praia Grande to kick back on the beach. You’ll also be close to the attractive fishing village of Ferragudo, where you can meander along the seafront and dine alfresco. This home is a little dated in places so it won’t suit those seeking a slick, modern abode, but it’s a comfortable base, and the outside space is a real treat.

At the foot of Castelo de Ferragudo, this former carriage house is now a contemporary retreat in the heart of town. Not only are you close to restaurants, nightlife and shops in the city centre, but you're also a mere two-minute walk from Praia Grande beach. You'd never be able to tell this home's history from the sleek and modern interiors. There's plenty of room, but we think it's a tight fit for all sixteen guests – especially since some of the bedrooms are on the smaller side. Outside is a sparkling pool and alfresco dining space. Why not kick your holiday up a notch and hire a private chef to do all the cooking for you?

With just as much outdoor space as indoor space, you'll be enjoying the warm Portuguese weather in no time. Go for a dip in the private plunge pool, with views of the surrounding skyline beneath gorgeous blue skies. Take advantage of the underfloor heating in the morning, and make your first coffee of the day as natural sunlight pours in through the sliding doors to greet you.

With shops, restaurants, and beautiful alleys filled with flowers that Ferragudo is known for all within walking distance, you won't need to worry about planning long drives to make the most of your stay here. And being indoors won't stop you from admiring this beautiful historic village – if watching the sunset as you dine alfresco or float in the pool with a drink isn't enough, you can always head up to the second terrace, one level higher with a plush lounge area where you can see all the way out to the horizon for that extra elevated feel.

Thanks to the unfiltered terrace views of the water, a location that’s a short distance from Ferragudo’s beaches and ultra-modern amenities, this home is comfort and holiday bliss personified. When you’re not laying in the sand at Pintadinho Beach or watching the waves lap the shore at Grande Beach, you’ll probably be outside, savouring the sunlight. 

Take a late-morning dip in the pool, rustle up a meal in the sleek kitchen and tuck into lunch on the dining bench. Your afternoons are made for sunbathing and enjoying the weather on a lounger, or if you want to escape the heat – lying up on the plush sofa where floor-to-ceiling windows still let you admire that sea view. Should you need to work remotely, there's a full home office with a monitor and printer set up in the open living area. Once the sun starts to set, head to the terrace with a glass of wine, relax and admire the scenic landscape tinged golden.

Overlooking the white sands of highly sought after Praia Grande beach is this rustic and charming villa in a renovated former bee cottage. The villa broods harmony between raw nature, beautiful coastline, and easy living to match the charm of the Portuguese fishing village. The lush garden provides space for children to roam while the adults watch from plush sun loungers. As soon as you bore of the pool, just 600m away lies the stunning white beach. One of our favourite highlights was the private steps that led from the villa right out onto the sand, providing immediate beach access. Aside from time spent relaxing at the seaside-chic villa, the outside area of the town provides sailing boat rental, canoeing, and a bustling village square with local fare and fishermen showcasing the catch of the day.

Praia Grande is a few minutes away on foot, and there are countless other beaches along the coastline. The villa boasts Atlantic Ocean views, which can be admired from the terrace and the alfresco dining area. Your host can arrange for a private chef to dazzle your guests while you whip up a round of cocktails.

You will find this gorgeous property in the picturesque fishing village of Ferragudo. It is decorated in a modern style with colourful yet muted interiors. Combining warm colours, textured soft furnishings and stylish oak furniture, you will feel at home from the minute you arrive.

A typical day starts with a scrumptious breakfast on the terrace, soaking in the delightful morning sunshine. The fully equipped kitchen also has a coffee machine so you can read your favourite book with an espresso, making the most of every moment you have in this beautiful property. Then, wander just 1km to the nearest sandy beach and enjoy a wonderful day of sunbathing and sandcastle building before cooling off in the turquoise waters. Once you’ve dried off, walk just two minutes along the cobblestone streets to head to any of the delicious local restaurants. As you can expect, the local fishermen of Ferragudo are passionate about their produce. You will love eating paella made with fresh seafood and finish off every meal with a Pastel De Nata, the egg custard tart that Portugal is known for.

Ferragudo is an ideal location for anyone looking for a tranquil break away from the tourist hotspots. Immerse yourself in the local culture here and spend your days at some of the finest beaches in the Lagoa region. For those who enjoy shopping, there are plenty of local boutiques and market stalls to explore.

Around this region of Portugal, you can’t move for secluded sandy bays, hidden between honey-hued cliffs. The sun shines year-round and this modern, sleek villa means making the most of days outdoors. Let’s start with the swimming pool, shimmering like a jewel in the wooden deck. From here, you can look out to sea and realise how close you are to the beach (a ten-minute walk). Sofas, loungers and a dedicated open-air gym surround the pool. But our favourite spot might be the sunken lounge beneath the wooden pergola. On the other side of the villa, you’ve got dining for the group, a second shaded outdoor lounge, a trampoline and ping pong table, so there’s enough room for everyone to spread out. Head up to the rooftop terrace for the perfect sunset view. 

Walls of glass cast the open living area in sunlight inside and chefs will be happy in the monochrome kitchen where all mod cons are on hand to help make a memorable feast. Choose between the grand, slate-grey sofas to unwind in the open social space, or tuck yourself away in the second sitting room with a good book. There’s a dedicated office room too should you need to work remotely. Bedrooms have been set up with families in mind, with guitar-strewn twins for teenagers, toy-filled singles for younger kids and a lavish master with its own private balcony for parents.

As you pad around this sleek home, you’ll find everything you need for your stay – if a villa could go above and beyond, this one does. Made for outdoor living, you can soak up the Portuguese sun as you relax on a poolside lounger with your summer read or enjoy a spot of table tennis on the terrace. 

Our favourite spot, however, is the roof terrace. Boasting a Jacuzzi and quaint seating area, this is the place to be as day drifts towards night. Gather your loved ones, a selection of snacks and a bottle of wine, and watch as the sky changes from brilliant blue to amber and pink hues. As the sun finally sinks into the Atlantic Ocean, raise your glasses in a toast to a memorable family escape.
