Sitting pretty close to the Algarve's celebrated coastline, this villa treats guests to a panoramic view of the region's white rooftops and the Mediterranean Sea from the terrace up on the third floor – and this isn't the only bit of outside space. Although you'll undoubtedly be spending a vast amount of your time here outside, you'll like what you see when you eventually have to head indoors. There's a traditional edge to the design, what with the terracotta tiles underfoot and the colourful artwork hung on whitewashed walls, but other parts feel way more contemporary – the bright and airy kitchen and bathrooms, in particular. 

When you want to see a little more of the local region, the local town of Armação de Pêra can be easily reached on foot and offers a 6km-long stretch of bay, plus lots of restaurants and nightlife. Further along the coastline, the destinations of Albufera and Faro, as well as a huge number of golf courses, lie not too far away by car.

And that's all without mentioning that amazing outdoor private pool, where you can float on a lilo and top up your tan, or splash about to your heart's content.

Inside, the home is somehow even more striking. Colourful retro interiors give the home a wonderfully charming feel – the dining area looks like something from an Alice in Wonderland book, and is ideal for feasting on Piri-Piri chicken – and the vibrant lounge is fantastic for late-night drinks and party games. There's even a sauna here for when you need ultimate relaxation.

This charming farmhouse, nestled in the Portuguese countryside, promises a peaceful base for making memories with your loved ones. Beautifully restored, it has just the right mix of old and new – retaining its character, but with all the modern conveniences you’d want in a home-away-from-home. Wander inside, and the home is light and bright, with comfortable furnishings and rich brown beams stretching overhead. In summer, it provides the perfect respite from the heat of the sun, while in winter, your feet will stay nice and toasty with the welcome underfloor heating.

Our favourite spot has to be the outdoor space. It’s easy to imagine days spent here, enjoying the cool water of your sparkling pool as the sun warms your skin. Perhaps you’d prefer to stretch out on a sun lounger, armed with a cocktail and a good book, as you listen to the delighted chatter of your children playing on the swing nearby. If an afternoon siesta is calling your name, climb onto your hammock for a little doze as the breeze drifts gently by. 

If you can tear yourself away from the relaxing vibe of this home, there’s so much to enjoy in the local area. Head north, and you’ll find the historic town of Silves. If the beach is what you seek, drive south and you can enjoy the white, sandy beaches of Armaçao de Pera. Just the spot to prop up one of the beach bars or enjoy a spot of lunch.
