This holiday home just south of Bude is a great spot to spend some quality time with the whole family. It’s only a short walk to the beach, where you can take surf lessons or go for a hike with your four-legged friend along the Atlantic coast. The house has got three ensuite bedrooms and a large family bathroom, but it’s the garden with the sea view that we like best. There are a small local shop and pub nearby and the town of Bude is but a short drive away.

With an enviable clifftop location on the coast of northern Cornwall, this pet-friendly beach house offers great views of the Atlantic Ocean. While the wi-fi may not always be reliable, the outdoor dining facilities, large garden and board games mean everyone will be entertained. Outside of the home, Widemouth Bay Beach is minutes away and Bude's centre is an easy drive. You'll also find Blue Flag beaches nearby, along with some great hiking trails.

This delightful stone cottage is nestled in the heart of the quintessential Cornish fishing village of Boscastle. It was built in 1908, but a renovation in 2016 saw the home fitted with every modern comfort you could need. This cottage is wonderfully snug, retaining its characterful original features such as exposed beams and wooden flooring. The interior has benefitted from a creative’s touch, with quirky furnishings and bold artwork creating a modern space. The cosy sitting room is decorated in such a way that you'll want to spend hours inside wiling away the time with board games in front of the fire. We also love the bathroom with its lino floor and rustic bathtub. However, this home’s perfect location means there’s also lots of fun to be had outside of the garden – even with that sea view. Whip up a picnic in the kitchen or make a smoothie with the Nutribullet and head up to Beeny Cliff, a dramatic headland immortalised in the poem by Thomas Hardy. Or alternatively, walk into the village and watch the boats go past in Boscastle’s historic harbour, less than a fifteen-minute stroll from your front door.

This is one for the ramblers and the folk that love the great outdoors. The former barn has been turned into a country bolthole in the rolling landscape of Cornwall. Lace up your hiking boots and hit the South West Coastal Trail at Crackington Haven, a twelve-minute drive away. This stretch of coastline is home to secret sandy bays and stunning sea views from the tops of cliffs. 

From the windows inside, you’ve got a view of the verdant green fields and tumbling hills that make up this peaceful area. The old walls of the barn are on display in patches of exposed stonework amidst the otherwise pristine white walls. In the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room, the L-shaped sofa creates a snuggly nook for cosy evenings in. Should the weather stay fine, there’s a flower-filled private garden with a barbecue and patio dining to make the most of the Cornish sun.

On the other hand, Holywell Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the county. You’ll be pleased to know it's only a five-minute walk from your door, where alongside stunning scenery, you’ll find a gorgeous coastal path, and a handful of charming beachside cafes and eateries. Refuel on local produce at the Gull Rocks Bar & Coffee House at the beach’s entrance after an afternoon spent splashing about, and take in the stunning vistas afforded by its prime location. The Treguth Inn, hailing back to the thirteenth century also awaits just five minutes away, while several more traditional pubs and desirable restaurants can be found within a fifteen-minute drive. The choice is all yours. 

A short twenty-minute drive away is the Gannel Estuary, which separates neighbouring Crantock village from Newquay. Have a go at canoeing in the estuary, or try your hand at paddle-boarding over in Crantock. On quieter days, why not go for fish and chips followed by some ice cream in idyllic fishing villages such as Mevagissey, Mousehole or Gorran Haven, all within an hour's drive? Whatever you choose to do, you won't be short of fun.
  
Of course, such is the high-quality amenities, you don't even need to leave the house. An open living area is blessed with natural light and plenty of space, perfect for social evenings. Chill on the sofas, sit with a glass of beer on the kitchen bar or take to the circular table for dinner. Just over a mile from the village of Stithians, down by the River Kennall, this stone cottage is set in the 7-acre land surrounding an old farmhouse. But despite its incredibly rural setting, staying here is far from the rustic experience you might expect. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Upon arrival, your host will warmly welcome you with a hamper full of luxury Cornish fare and home-baked goods to start your holiday right. While you nibble and sip, you can start exploring the cosy home. Fluffy rugs, plush sofas, and wooden floors create a sense of warmth and softness in the living space, but floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in. And the great outdoors are particularly great in this case. Under the wooden decking, get ready to pop champagne and soak in the hot tub. Or perhaps you’d rather recline on the outdoor sofas by the wood-burner, have a barbecue, or play a few rounds of table tennis? As you’re just a fifteen-minute drive to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, you’ll also need to pack a picnic one day and head for the shore (don’t forget to grab the beach towels that your host kindly provides).

If the gentle trickle of water helps you relax and you're a lover of the great outdoors, this fabulous home is sure to delight you. Right next to a narrow part of the River Harbourne, which leads to the Dart, it's a converted fruit barn with bags of character and more than its fair share of chic styling. 

Built around 1825 and once a rubble ruin, the home has been completely modernised, with plenty of contemporary luxuries blending with the building's original structures. We love the extended kitchen and dining space, where beams and exposed stone walls give way to gunmetal grey patio doors and a glass ceiling.

Designed to be cosy for four but with the option of adding two children in the spacious master suite, it's a beautiful home with several standout features. As well as the modern log burner in the sitting room, there's the private garden beside the river, the high-spec kitchen, glamorous bathrooms and comfy beds. Plus a friendly local host who'll be on hand with tips and recommendations about the area.

On the outskirts of a village near Totnes, you'll be ideally positioned to access all of the South Hams easily by car. And keen walkers can head off to Totnes, Tuckenhay, Cornworthy and more. There are two good pubs within walking distance and the nearby Sharpham Estate has a great farm shop.

Located in the coastal village of Marlborough, this home makes it easier than ever to relax. Out in the palm-filled garden, you can sit back in the hot tub before getting out and taking a perch next to the fire. Alternatively, the alfresco lounge on the terrace isn't a bad spot for a languorous evening over a bottle of wine.

Heading through the glass doors, you'll see the interior is just as geared towards laid-back living. Not only in the decor — heavy as it is with faux fur, house plants and neutral colours — but also in the numerous sumptuous spots where you can kick back. During the colder evenings, you can get cosy on the sofa with the log-burner crackling in the background or lie back in the freestanding bathtub. During brighter days, the dining table in the conservatory complete with an upright piano is sure to see some action.

As you can probably guess from the nautical view from many of the windows, the seaside isn't too far away. South Sands Beach is only seven minutes away in the car, for instance. That's just one of many beauty spots in the surrounding South Devon AONB and once you've worked up a hunger from seeing all the locale has to offer, simply drive over to Salcombe in six minutes and hit up one of the seafront gastropubs.
